Herein, a nitrogen doped carbon nanotube supported NiFe/NiSe2 heterostructure rich in oxygen vacancies (DBD-NiFe/NiSe2@NCNT) is successfully synthesized using atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier ...discharge plasma. It exhibits superior bifunctional catalytic activity towards the OER (η = 292 mV@10 mA cm−2) and ORR (E1/2 = 0.811 V), with a ΔE as low as 0.711 V in 0.1 M KOH electrolyte, outperforming most of the ones previously reported in the literature. Through physical structure characterization, electrochemical properties and DFT calculation studies, the unique heterostructure and oxygen vacancies/defects that synergistically promote the catalytic process and greatly improve the catalytic performance were verified. Impressively, the as-assembled rechargeable ZAB based on DBD-NiFe/NiSe2@NCNT as an electrocatalyst obtains a remarkable maximum power density of 131.61 mW cm−2 and an exceptional stability for 1000 cycles at 10 mA cm−2. Furthermore, the DBD-NiFe/NiSe2@NCNT-based flexible all-solid-state ZAB revealed excellent performance with robust flexibility. This work provides worthy insights into the search for high-efficiency and low-cost energy storage and conversion devices.
In present work, we have developed a simple but effective template carbonization method for producing hollow carbon materials with high content of nitrogen and oxygen from thiocarbanilide. Among all ...samples, the NPC-1 exhibits high specific surface area (736 m2 g−1) and large pore volume (5.93 cm3 g−1) with high content of heteroatoms (∼11.25 at% nitrogen and ∼5.74 at% oxygen), which is conducive to the improvement of electrochemical performance. Specifically, the high specific capacitance and excellent cycling stability over 5000 cycles of the NPC-1-based electrode are achieved in 1 mol L−1 H2SO4 electrolyte. Additionally, pyrocatechol and rutin as novel redox additives that can easily cause redox-reactions have been incorporated into H2SO4 electrolyte to improve the capacitances. As a result, the NPC-1-R-0.15 and NPC-1-P-0.15 samples deliver high specific capacitances of 120.5 and 368.7 F g−1 at 2 A g−1, respectively, which are much higher than that of the NPC-1 sample (66.2 F g−1) without redox-additives at same current density. Furthermore, the large energy density of 18.9 and 11.9 Wh kg−1 of the NPC-1-based symmetric supercapacitors have been obtained in H2SO4+pyrocatechol and H2SO4+rutin electrolyte, respectively, and both samples also demonstrate excellent cyclic performance for 5000 cycles.

A carbon nanotube reinforced polypyrrole nanowire network was constructed by in situpolymerization of pyrrole in the presence of carbon nanotubes using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide micelles as a ...soft template. Carbon nanotubes as a reinforcer were embedded into a network of polypyrrole nanowires, thus retaining in the latter a complete network. The resulting network possessed a specific surface area of 112.1 m super(2) g super(-1) and a rough porous structure. The embedding of carbon nanotubes decreased the charge transfer resistance in the polypyrrole nanowires and allowed easy access and rapid diffusion of ions/electrons. When applied as a capacitive electrode, a specific capacitance of 183.2 F g super(-1) was observed at a current density of 8 A g super(-1). The specific capacitance retention was 85% after 1000 cycles at 1 A g super(-1). An asymmetric supercapacitor was fabricated using the network as a positive electrode and active carbon as a negative electrode, and when operated at a maximum voltage of 1.5 V, had a high energy density (15.1 W h kg super(-1) at 3000 W kg super(-1)). A long-term cycling test of the asymmetric supercapacitor at a current density of 1 A g super(-1) displayed a capacitance retention of 72% even after 3000 cycles of charge and discharge.
Recent studies have shown that nucleophagy can mitigate DNA damage by selectively degrading nuclear components protruding from the nucleus. However, little is known about the role of nucleophagy in ...neurons after spinal cord injury (SCI). Western blot analysis and immunofluorescence were performed to evaluate the nucleophagy after nuclear DNA damage and leakage in SCI neurons in vivo and NSC34 expression in primary neurons cultured with oxygen–glucose deprivation (OGD) in vitro, as well as the interaction and colocalization of autophagy protein LC3 with nuclear lamina protein Lamin B1. The effect of UBC9, a Small ubiquitin‐related modifier (SUMO) E2 ligase, on Lamin B1 SUMOylation and nucleophagy was examined by siRNA transfection or 2‐D08 (a small‐molecule inhibitor of UBC9), immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence. In SCI and OGD injured NSC34 or primary cultured neurons, neuronal nuclear DNA damage induced the SUMOylation of Lamin B1, which was required by the nuclear Lamina accumulation of UBC9. Furthermore, LC3/Atg8, an autophagy‐related protein, directly bound to SUMOylated Lamin B1, and delivered Lamin B1 to the lysosome. Knockdown or suppression of UBC9 with siRNA or 2‐D08 inhibited SUMOylation of Lamin B1 and subsequent nucleophagy and protected against neuronal death. Upon neuronal DNA damage and leakage after SCI, SUMOylation of Lamin B1 is induced by nuclear Lamina accumulation of UBC9. Furthermore, it promotes LC3‐Lamin B1 interaction to trigger nucleophagy that protects against neuronal DNA damage.

To address this gap, we performed Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) to identify and construct a cancer associated fibroblasts (CAFs) infiltration biomarker. We also depicted the intercellular communication network and important receptor-ligand complexes using the single-cell transcriptomics analysis of tumor and Adjacent normal tissue.
Through the intersection of TCGA DEGs and WGCNA module genes, 784 differential genes related to CAFs infiltration were obtained. After a series of regression analyses, the CAFs score was generated by integrating the expressions of EVA1A, APBA2, LRRTM4, GOLGA8M, BPIFB2, and their corresponding coefficients. In the TCGA-CHOL, GSE89748, and 107,943 cohorts, the high CAFs score group showed unfavorable survival prognosis (p < 0.001, p = 0.0074, p = 0.028, respectively). Additionally, a series of drugs have been predicted to be more sensitive to the high-risk group (p < 0.05). Subsequent to dimension reduction and clustering, thirteen clusters were identified to construct the single-cell atlas. Cell-cell interaction analysis unveiled significant enhancement of signal transduction in tumor tissues, particularly from fibroblasts to malignant cells via diverse pathways. Moreover, SCENIC analysis indicated that HOXA5, WT1, and LHX2 are fibroblast specific motifs.
This study reveals the key role of fibroblasts - oncocytes interaction in the remodeling of the immunosuppressive microenvironment in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. Subsequently, it may trigger cascade activation of downstream signaling pathways such as PI3K-AKT and Notch in tumor, thus initiating tumorigenesis. Targeted drugs aimed at disrupting fibroblasts-tumor cell interaction, along with associated enrichment pathways, show potential in mitigating the immunosuppressive microenvironment that facilitates tumor progression.
In present work, we demonstrate a simple but effective redox additive of pyrocatechol violet (abbr. PCV) to largely promote the capacitive performances especially when carried out in three different ...kinds of electrolytes (H2SO4, Na2SO4 and KOH), mostly due to its fast electron and proton transfer occurring in the electrode/electrolyte interface. It reveals that the PCV dosage incorporated into electrolyte plays a crucial role in the determination of capacitive performance. When conducted in a two-electrode system, incorporating 0.06 mol L−1 PCV into 1 mol L−1 H2SO4 can achieve large capacitance up to 200 F g−1, which is almost 2.06 times than the one without the addition of PCV; besides, the corresponding energy density is of 28 Wh kg−1 (also increasing 2 times). What’s more, PCV has been extended as the redox additive in other electrolytes such as Na2SO4 and KOH, and remarkable promotion in capacitance and energy density also occur, well evincing the high efficiency and universal applicability of PCV for the large promotion of supercapacitors’ performances due to its prominent electrochemical reversibility and high solubility.

To understand the oxygen fugacity (fO2) during subduction initiation, we examined proto‐arc boninites and associated mantle peridotites from the Troodos ophiolite, Cyprus. The Troodos ophiolite ...represents an exhumed piece of oceanic lithosphere that formed during subduction initiation in Neo‐Tethys in Late Cretaceous. Dunites and surrounding harzburgites in the Kokkinorotsos podiform chromite deposit of the ophiolite were formed by reactions between peridotites and ascending boninitic magmas. The olivine‐chromite oxybarometers show that the fO2 values (∆QFM −0.41 ± 0.37) of the dunites are slightly higher than those (∆QFM −0.85 ± 0.52) of the harzburgites under mantle conditions, indicating that the mantle fO2 was raised limitedly by percolation of the boninitic magmas. Meanwhile, the boninitic upper pillow lavas in the Margi area also recorded relatively reduced fO2 values (∆QFM −0.52 ± 0.20) during olivine‐chromite crystallization, comparable to the fO2 of mid‐ocean ridge basalts. Shallow‐level processes (i.e., magma ascent, crystallization, crustal assimilation, and degassing) appear to have limited influence on the estimated fO2 values in Troodos. The similarly low fO2 values of the mantle peridotites and boninitic magmas suggest that the Troodos primary boninitic magmas were perhaps not as oxidized as the Izu‐Bonin‐Mariana (IBM) proto‐arc boninitic magmas, though both mantle sources have captured the slab fluids released during subduction inception. This difference might be attributed to the different nature of the slab components (i.e., a more reduced subduction input for Troodos). Our study thus suggests that subducted slabs might not always release oxidized fluids, and the oxidation processes might be different for each nascent subduction zones.

Subduction zones have played a key role in mass exchange between the Earth's surface and its interior, and are one of the main factories for the generation of Earth's magmas. The redox state of arc lavas produced at subduction zones controls the formation of important mineral deposits. In fact, subduction zone lavas are believed to be generally more oxidized than mid‐ocean ridge lavas, but the origin of their oxidized nature and how their redox state change during the birth of a subduction zone remains poorly understood. Boninites are special Mg‐ and Si‐rich but Ti‐poor lavas (SiO2 > 52 wt.%, MgO > 8 wt.%, and TiO2 < 0.5 wt.%), and are typical products of magmatism that formed during subduction initiation. Here, we show that the primary boninitic magmas of the Troodos ophiolite of Cyprus are in fact no more oxidized than mid‐ocean ridge basalts, even though their mantle source interacted with the slab fluids released from the incipient subducted plate. Therefore, we propose that proto‐arc magmas, that formed as the down‐going slab began foundering, might not always be oxidized during the inception of a subduction zone.

The associations of occupational activity (OA), commuting, leisure-time physical activity (LTPA), and sitting with overweight/obesity in working adults are controversial. This study explored these ...factors with the risk of overall and abdominal overweight/obesity in a Chinese working population and whether these associations differ by gender.
A cross-sectional study was conducted. Data analysis was done among 6739 employed participants. Multivariate logistic regression was used to estimate the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the studied associations.
For male employees, those with heavy OA had a lower overall (OR 0.76; 95% CI, 0.62–0.93) and abdominal (OR 0.76; 95% CI, 0.62–0.93) overweight/obesity risk than those with light OA. Those with LTPA ≥150 min/week had a lower risk of overall (OR 0.73; 95% CI, 0.56–0.96) and abdominal (OR 0.70; 95% CI, 0.53–0.91) overweight/obesity than those with LTPA <150 min/week. Men with leisure-sitting time <2.5 h/day had a significantly lower risk of abdominal overweight/obesity than those sitting ≥4 h/day (OR 0.80; 95% CI, 0.65–0.99). And men who cycled to/from work had a lower risk of overall (OR 0.69; 95% CI, 0.53–0.90) and abdominal overweight/obesity (OR 0.71; 95% CI, 0.54–0.92) than passive transports. However, the above significant associations disappeared among female employees.
Heavy OA, cycling to/from work, and LTPA were associated with lower risk of overall or abdominal overweight/obesity in male employees. Reducing leisure sitting time can also help male employees reduce the risk of abdominal overweight/obesity. More research on gender disparity in the risk of overweight and obesity should be done.

An easy method to synthesize a strongly coupled cobalt ferrite/carbon nanotube (CoFe2O4/CNT) composite with oxygen bridges between CoFe2O4 and reduced carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by calcining the ...precursor material was reported. The precursor was prepared by an electrostatic self-assembly of the exfoliated Co(II)Fe(II)Fe(III)-layered double hydroxide (CoFeFe-LDH) nanosheets and acid treated CNTs. The deoxygenation effect of ferrous ion (Fe2+) in CoFeFe-LDH nanosheets on the oxygen-containing groups of acid treated CNTs was investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurement. After thermal conversion, the obtained CoFe2O4 was bonded to the reduced CNTs through Metal–O–C (oxygen bridge), which was characterized by XPS, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. When applied as an anode for lithium-ion battery, the CoFe2O4/CNT composite exhibited a low resistance of charge transfer and Li-ion diffusion, good cycle performance, and high rate capability. At a lower current density of 0.15A·g−1, a specific discharge capacity of 910mA·h·g−1 was achieved up to 50 cycles. When current density was increased to 8.8A·g−1, the CoFe2O4/CNT composite still delivered 500mA·h·g−1.
In this work, by simply heating trisodium citrate dihydrate as sole precursor at 800°C, novel 2D amorphous carbon material (the SC-blank sample) occurs, whose high surface area and large pore volume ...can reach up to 1015.8m2g−1 and 2.0cm3g−1, respectively. Furthermore, we present a synchronous carbonization and graphitization method to produce partially graphitic carbon materials. When heating the mixture of trisodium citrate dihydrate and nickel nitrate hexahydrate as template and graphitization catalyst (the mass ratio of 7:1) at 800°C, the resulting SC-7:1 sample’s surface area has decreased to be 682.8m2g−1 due to its improved graphitization degree, together with a lower capacity, but a better rate capability. More importantly, in order to further enhance capacity, certain amount of sulfanilic acid azochromotrop (abbr. SAA) serving as redox additive has been introduced into KOH electrolyte. Notably, the SC-blank sample incorporated with SAA redox additive (12mmolL−1) indicates a largely enhanced capacity of 164mAhg−1 when measured at 3Ag−1, which is much larger than that of the pristine one (20mAhg−1). To sum up, the SAA is an efficient redox additive for elevating the capacity.
