A 2150×2150mm2 registration area drift chamber capable of working in vacuum is presented. Thin-wall tubes (straws) of a new type are used in the chamber. A large share of these 9.80mm diameter drift ...tubes are made in Dubna from metalized 36µm Mylar film welded along the generatrix using an ultrasonic welding machine created at JINR. The main features of the chamber and some characteristics of the drift tubes are described. Four such chambers with the X, Y, U, V coordinates each, containing 7168 straws in total, are designed and produced at JINR and CERN. They are installed in the vacuum volume of the NA62 setup in order to study the ultra-rare decay K+→π+vv¯ and to search for and study rare meson decays. In autumn 2014 the chambers were used for the first time for the data taking in the experimental run of the NA62 at CERN׳s SPS.
Autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) is a common organ-specific autoimmune disease. A strong influence of genetic and epigenetic modifications has been demonstrated to take part in the development and ...progression of autoimmune thyroid diseases. The linkage between the Vitamin D receptor (VDR) polymorphism and several autoimmune disorders, including the AITD. In this article, we aim to investigate the Frequency of VDR Fokl (rs2228570) genotypes (CC, CT, TT) and alleles (C,T) in autoimmune thyroiditis. The investigation of VDR Fokl (rs2228570) was conducted on 150 samples (control (75 healthy women) and diseased women (75 diseased with autoimmune thyroiditis)) patients from the Adjara (Georgia) Population. It also examined some clinical and laboratory characteristics of the study population. Autoimmune thyroiditis's disease was diagnosed by measuring blood antibodies, determining the level of thyroperoxidase, and conducting an ultrasound examination. Anti-TPO and TSH were studied using the ELISA method. The genomic DNA was extracted from the peripheral blood. The polymerase chain reaction was evaluated to examine the VDR Fokl rs2228570 SNP polymorphism. According to VDR Fokl (rs2228570) genotypes (CC; CT, TT) frequency, in the control group, the Frequency of CC-genotype is 48%, CT-heterozygous genotype is 29.33%, and TT-genotype is 22.67%; in the diseased population, the Frequency of CC-genotype is 57.33%, CT-genotype is 34.67%, and TT-genotype is 8%. According to VDR Fokl (rs2228570) alleles (C, T), the Frequency of the C-allele is high, and the Frequency of the T-allele is low in both populations. The Frequency of the CC and CT genotypes of VDR Fokl (rs2228570) is high in the population with autoimmune thyroiditis compared to the control group; the TT genotype is relatively low in the population suffering from autoimmune thyroiditis; According to VDR Fokl (rs2228570) alleles (C, T), the Frequency of C-allele is high both population.

The goal of this work was to design drift tubes and a chamber operating in vacuum, and to develop technologies for tubes independent assembly and mounting in the chamber. These design and technology ...were tested on the prototype. The main features of the chamber are the following: the drift tubes are made of flexible mylar film (wall thickness 36μm, diameter 9.80mm, length 2160mm) using ultrasonic welding along the generatrix; the welding device and methods were developed at JINR. Drift tubes with end plugs, anode wires and spacers were completely assembled outside the chamber. “Self-centering” spacers and bushes were used for precise setting of the anode wires and tubes. The assembled tubes were sealed with O-rings in their seats in the chamber which simplified the chamber assembling. Moreover the tube assembly and the chamber manufacture can be performed independently and in parallel; this sufficiently reduces the total time of chamber manufacture and assembling, its cost and allows tubes to be tested outside the chamber. The technology of independent tube assembling is suitable for a chamber of any shape but a round chamber is preferable for operation in vacuum. Single channel amplifier-discriminator boards which are more stable against cross talks were used for testing the tubes.
Independently assembled tubes were mounted into the chamber prototype and its performance characteristic measured under the vacuum conditions. The results showed that both the structure and the tubes themselves normally operate. They are suitable for making a full-scale drift chamber for vacuum.

The NA62 low mass spectrometer consists of 7000 straw tubes operating in vacuum. The front-end electronics is directly mounted on the detector and connected by a flexible PCB. The front-end board ...provides the amplification, shaping, discrimination and time measurements of the analogue signals from 16 channels. After digitisation the data is sent to a VME 9U read-out board. The data, once matched with the trigger, is sent to the next step and used by the trigger level 1 algorithm. The front-end and read-out systems of the detector will be presented along with the first results of the detector performances.

The HADES dielectron spectrometer has recently launched its physics program at the heavy ion synchrotron SIS at GSI Darmstadt. The spectroscopy of vector mesons in heavy ion collisions via their ...dielectron decay channel makes great demands on the HADES tracking system regarding acceptance and spatial resolution. The tracking system is formed out of 24 low-mass, trapezoidal multi-layer drift chambers providing about

of active area. Low multiple scattering in the in total four planes of drift chambers before and after the magnetic field is ensured by using helium-based gas mixtures and aluminum cathode and field wires. First in-beam performance results are contrasted with expectations from simulations. Emphasis is placed on the energy loss information, exploring its relevance regarding track recognition.
