The thermodynamic stability of blood plasma main proteins of 17 patients (32–72-year-old women) with preliminary diagnosis of ductal carcinoma was studied. We had only one case, when a tissue with ...size <1.0 cm showed the same DSC results as blood plasma of healthy persons. In all other cases, the profile of curves and melting thermodynamic parameters of proteins were different from the norm. Depending on the disease stage, the albumin melting temperature (
T
m
) increased by maximum 6 °C, the integral melting width (∆
T
m
) increased by 40–100 %, the melting enthalpy (∆
H
m
) did not change practically, and it was 23.0 J g
−1
(protein). And what was more important, a new weakly expressed shoulder appeared in the range 57–58 °C when no rigid tissue mass was detected in breast yet. The shoulder that was expressed at stage I converted to a clear peak at stage III with melting parameters

m
= 58 ± 1 °C and ∆
T
m
= 2.5 ± 0.5 °C. It was supposed that the well-known cancer biomarkers—fibronectin and tenascins—could be the proteins that melted at 58 ± 1 °C. Estimation of these protein concentrations on the basis of DSC data gave us the values which varied within 500–850 µg mL
−1
depending on the disease stages. After accumulation of a large number of experimental materials, we suppose that DSC can be used as one of the cheap and fast methods for the estimation of risk factors for breast cancer development when no rigid tissue mass is formed in mammary glands yet.
The safety and efficiency of the therapy with the angiotenzin-II receptor blocker--teveten were compared with the ACE inhibitor prestarium and their combination in patients with NYHA functional ...classes II-III of the chronic heart failure (CHF), who were on conventional therapy with diuretics and cardiac glycosides. The special attention was given to the influence of a combination of teveten and prestarium on morphofunctional performance of the myocardium and vessels, the neurohumoral status, quality of life and survival in patients with left ventricular dysfunction. Our study confirmed that Prestarium or Teveten monotheraphy gives approximately identical result, while their combination have better influence on the quality of life and hemodynamic parameters. The combined use of teveten and the ACE inhibitor prestarium is the most optimal treatment regimen in patients with moderate and severe CHF.
The aim of the work was to study the effect of metabolic triad with different mechanisms of acting--high-dose Glucose-Insulin-Potassium--25% polarizing solution (25% glucose, 50 IU soluble insulin ...and 4% 144 ml KCL-GIK), mildronat, preductal MR on the functional condition of heart during the acute myocardial infarction. 20 patients from the main group and 20 from the control one have been under the study. Patients with diabetes and heavy forms of heart failure (killip class>2) were not included in the study. Evaluation of the functional condition of heart was based on ECG and echocardiography data received before and after the treatment. It was determined that the frequency of the rhythm disorder decreases in the conditions of metabolic triad as well as during the thrombolitic reperfusion. Average period of time for normalization of S-T segment elevation made up 5.4+/-1.8 days and 7.3+/-1.2 days in case of the control group. The received data make it relevant to include the complex metabolic triad for preventive purpose during the complications followed after the acute myocardial infarction.
The morphologic substrate of the gingival mucosa membrane during the increase of the proatherogenic lipids concentration and the damage the gingiva under the influence of the atherogenic diet was ...studied in experiment. By the planimetric method the middle indices of the number of capillaries, arterioles and venules and as well the quantities of immunocompetent cells (macrophages and lymphocytes) in the gingival subepithelial connective tissue were defined. The experiments were carried out on rabbits (race "Shinshila"). Animals were on atherogenic ration (cholesterol 0,3 g/kg with vegetables). The experimental gingivitis was modeled by ligation of a silk ligature around the dental neck of the tree superior basal teeth after peeling the gingiva. It was established that under the gingivitis developing against the background of hypercholesterinemia in the subepithelial layer of the gingival mucosa the degree of the vascularisation distinctly diminished, owing to the decrease the number of arteriols and partly capillaries and transformation their walls--the thin-walled capillaries with obliterated, deformated lumen appeared. Endotheliocites with changed structure, ordinary pycnosis of nuclei which creates the necessary prereqvisites for the disturbance of trophicity and progression of the inflammatory process.
This study provides a description of the functional changes occurring in rat skin grafts preserved at 4 C in natural honey during 3, 7, 14, 30 days. To determine of the preserved skin viability we ...used the physiological test by measurement of O2 consumption rate in the culture media. O2 consumption measurement provided by Zieger MA, et al. For control was used normal and dead skin samples. Normal skin O2 consumption rate was considered as 100% viability, and dead skin - 0%. Preserved skin O2 consumption rate per 3, 7, 14, 30 days was - 72%, 38%, 15%, 8% respectively. Natural honey is antiseptic and cryoprotective material. Based on our investigation we can conclude that preservation method--meliteration is effective storage procedure for transplantation means (satisfactory viability preserved about 2-3 weeks). At the same time O2 consumption test gives us objective information about tissue viability potential. This method is very simple and useful for scientific investigation and practical medicine.
Blood serum antioxidation activity (AOA) was studied by the biophysical method of inhibited electrochemiluminescence in 500 patients with acute myocardial infarction. The degree of increased AOA ...depends on the size of the affected area. AOA intensity is greater in macrofocal than in microfocal myocardial infarction. It was established that in non-complicated myocardial infarction AOA is characterized by smooth dynamics with normalization of the values on the 3d week. Rapid AOA dynamics are encountered in II or III degree chronic congestive circulatory insufficiency. Protracted dynamics of antioxidation activity (longer than 3 weeks) is evidence of a recurrent character of the disease.
The data are presented on providing with vitamins of schoolchildren in Tbilisi. Significant disorders were revealed in their providing with vitamins due to insufficient content of vitamins in daily ...food rations of the schoolchildren investigated. To correct their vitamin status an additional vitamin administration to schoolchildren with the multivitamin compound "Hexavitum" was conducted and its positive effect on the parameters of their physical and mental development was recorded.
