with the DELPHI detector, the probabilities of the two W particles occurring in the joint polarisation states transverse–transverse (

) and longitudinal–longitudinal (

) have been determined using the final states

e
,
μ
). The two-particle joint polarisation probabilities, i.e. the spin density matrix elements
ρ
TT
,
ρ
LT
,
ρ
LL
, are measured as functions of the
W
−
production angle,
, at an average reaction energy of 198.2 GeV. Averaged over all
, the following joint probabilities are obtained:
These results are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions of 63.0%, 28.9% and 8.1%, respectively. The related polarisation cross-sections
σ
TT
,
σ
LT
and
σ
LL
are also presented.
The four LEP Collaborations, ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL, have collected a total of 2461 pb−1 of e+e− collision data at centre-of-mass energies between 189 and 209 GeV. The data are used to search for ...the Standard Model Higgs boson. The search results of the four Collaborations are combined and examined in a likelihood test for their consistency with two hypotheses: the background hypothesis and the signal plus background hypothesis. The corresponding confidences have been computed as functions of the hypothetical Higgs boson mass. A lower bound of 114.4 GeV/c2 is established, at the 95% confidence level, on the mass of the Standard Model Higgs boson. The LEP data are also used to set upper bounds on the HZZ coupling for various assumptions concerning the decay of the Higgs boson.
We report the results of a search for the bottomonium ground state η b ( 1 S ) in the photon energy spectrum with a sample of ( 109 ± 1 ) million of Υ ( 3 S ) recorded at the Υ ( 3 S ) energy with ...the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B factory at SLAC. We observe a peak in the photon energy spectrum at E γ = 921.2 + 2.1 − 2.8 ( stat ) ± 2.4 ( syst ) MeV with a significance of 10 standard deviations. We interpret the observed peak as being due to monochromatic photons from the radiative transition Υ ( 3 S ) → γ η b ( 1 S ) . This photon energy corresponds to an η b ( 1 S ) mass of 9388.9 + 3.1 − 2.3 ( stat ) ± 2.7 ( syst ) MeV / c 2 . The hyperfine Υ ( 1 S ) - η b ( 1 S ) mass splitting is 71.4 + 2.3 − 3.1 ( stat ) ± 2.7 ( syst ) MeV / c 2 . The branching fraction for this radiative Υ ( 3 S ) decay is estimated to be 4.8 ± 0.5 ( stat ) ± 1.2 ( syst ) × 10 − 4 .
We study the process $e^+e^-\to J/\psi\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ with initial-state-radiation events produced at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider. The data were recorded with the BaBar detector at ...center-of-mass energies 10.58 and 10.54 GeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 454 $\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$. We investigate the $J/\psi \pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ mass distribution in the region from 3.5 to 5.5 $\mathrm{GeV/c^{2}}$. Below 3.7 $\mathrm{GeV/c^{2}}$ the $\psi(2S)$ signal dominates, and above 4 $\mathrm{GeV/c^{2}}$ there is a significant peak due to the Y(4260). A fit to the data in the range 3.74 -- 5.50 $\mathrm{GeV/c^{2}}$ yields a mass value $4244 \pm 5$ (stat) $ \pm 4$ (syst)$\mathrm{MeV/c^{2}}$ and a width value $114 ^{+16}_{-15}$ (stat)$ \pm 7$(syst)$\mathrm{MeV}$ for this state. We do not confirm the report from the Belle collaboration of a broad structure at 4.01 $\mathrm{GeV/c^{2}}$. In addition, we investigate the $\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ system which results from Y(4260) decay.
Higgs boson production with subsequent decay to photons was searched for in the data collected by the DELPHI detector at centre-of-mass energies between 183 GeV and 209 GeV, corresponding to a total ...integrated luminosity of nearly 650 pb-1. No evidence for a signal was found, and limits were set on h0Z0 and h0A0 production with h0 decay to photons. These results were used to exclude regions in the parameter space of fermiophobic scenarios of Two Higgs Doublet Models.
Recent astrophysical and terrestrial experiments have motivated the proposal of a dark sector with GeV-scale gauge boson force carriers and new Higgs bosons. We present a search for a dark Higgs ...boson using 516 fb(-1) of data collected with the BABAR detector. We do not observe a significant signal and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product of the standard model-dark-sector mixing angle and the dark-sector coupling constant.
We report a Dalitz plot analysis of charmless hadronic decays of charged B mesons to the final state KS0π+π0 using the full BABAR data set of 470.9±2.8 million BB¯ events collected at the Υ(4S) ...resonance. We measure the overall branching fraction and CP asymmetry to be B(B+→K0π+π0)=(31.8±1.8±2.1−0.0+6.0)×10−6 and ACP(B+→K0π+π0)=0.07±0.05±0.03−0.03+0.02, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the signal model, respectively. This is the first measurement of the branching fraction for B+→K0π+π0. We find first evidence of a CP asymmetry in B+→K*(892)+π0 decays: ACP(B+→K*(892)+π0)=−0.52±0.14±0.04−0.02+0.04. The significance of this asymmetry, including systematic and model uncertainties, is 3.4 standard deviations. We also measure the branching fractions and CP asymmetries for three other intermediate decay modes.
This paper presents the final interpretation of the results from DELPHI on the searches for Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM). A few representative ...scenarios are considered, that include CP conservation and explicit CP violation in the Higgs sector. The experimental results encompass the searches for neutral Higgs bosons at LEP1 and LEP2 in final states as expected in the MSSM, as well as LEP2 searches for charged Higgs bosons and for neutral Higgs bosons decaying into hadrons independent of the quark flavour. The data reveal no significant excess with respect to background expectations. The results are translated into excluded regions of the parameter space in the various scenarios. In the CP-conserving case, these lead to limits on the masses of the lightest scalar and pseudoscalar Higgs bosons, h and A, and on tanβ. The dependence of these limits on the top quark mass is discussed. Allowing for CP violation reduces the experimental sensitivity to Higgs bosons. It is shown that this effect depends strongly on the values of the parameters responsible for CP violation in the Higgs sector.

We present a study of the decays B^{0,+} --> J/psi pi^+ pi^- pi^0 K^{0,+}, using 467 10^6 BBbar pairs recorded with the BABAR detector. We present evidence for the decay mode X(3872) --> J/psi omega, ...with product branching fractions B(B^+ --> X(3872)K^+) B(X(3872) --> J/psi omega) =0.6\pm0.2\stat \pm 0.1\syst 10^{-5}, and B(B^0 --> X(3872)K^0) B(X(3872) --> J/psi omega) =0.6\pm0.3\stat \pm 0.1\syst 10^{-5}. A detailed study of the pi^+ pi^- pi^0 mass distribution from X(3872) decay favors a negative-parity assignment.
