Diaphragmatic rupture after blunt abdominal trauma is a rare entity in pediatric age group. We report a 2-year-old child who presented to us with respiratory distress after he fell from bike. Initial ...evaluation had a suspicion of pneumothorax, but computed tomography scan confirmed that he had a diaphragmatic tear along with herniation of abdominal contents in left hemithorax. The child was managed successfully with open surgical approach. Since there are no specific signs and symptoms to diagnose this condition, high index of suspicion should be kept in all cases of abdomino-thoracic injuries.
Labial adhesions occur most often in infants and young girls and are associated with low oestrogen levels. Herein, we report a case of labial adhesion in a 24-year-old young girl, who presented with ...acute retention of urine. Clinical examination revealed normally developed external genitalia and a thin membrane occluding the introital opening. Her secondary sexual characters were normal; the most probable cause being acute vaginitis, her hormonal profile was not done. Patient was managed with sharp excision of membrane followed by local application of antibiotics. Patient was asymptomatic at three months follow-up with completely healed labia. Hence, all women including unmarried ones who present with urinary complaint need to have a complete gynaecological examination as the two can be related.
Leprosy in pregnancy is a rarely encountered event. Out of the 2000 patients detected of leprosy annually, two to three are pregnant women and majority of them are diagnosed in the third trimester. ...We, hereby, report a case of borderline tuberculoid leprosy with Type I lepromatous reaction in a 26-year-old pregnant woman in early second trimester with a large raised red coloured lesion over the forehead and six other small lesions involving the trunk and limbs with reduced sensory perception over involved skin. Occurrence of leprosy in an obstetric patient belonging to low prevalence area of India is infrequent especially in the post elimination era. However, we do need to have a high index of suspicion in lesions suggestive of the disease.
Routine placement of indwelling catheter preoperatively in Caesarean Section is being practiced without justified scientific evidence.

Case-Control study carried in a tertiary teaching hospital.
This study was carried over 150 women undergoing primary Caesarean section without any medical complication or pre-existing Urinary Tract Infections (UTI). The subjects were randomly allocated to 2 groups i.e. Group 1(Non-Catheterized; NC) and Group 2 (Catheterized for 24 hours postoperatively; C). Parameters noted were; duration of surgery, time of ambulation, postoperative voiding discomfort {graded as - no, mild, moderate-severe, by Visual Analog Scoring (VAS)}, incidence of UTI, postoperative urinary retention, need of postoperative antibiotics and duration of hospital stay.
Results were analysed using unpaired t-test.
There was no significant difference in duration of surgery and postoperative urinary retention in both groups. However, it was seen that non-catheterized patients had significantly earlier ambulation, shorter hospital stay, took less time for first voiding, lesser voiding discomfort, less incidence of UTI and lesser use of postoperative antibiotics.
The routine use of indwelling catheter in Caesarean section is unscientific and unnecessary. There should be selective rather than routine catheterization.
From the last decade, research on dehydroacetic acid (DHA) and its derivatives has increased immensely due to its significant role in various fields, including medicine, cosmetics, food industry, and ...so on. In the medicinal area, DHA plays an essential role in developing novel action‐based drugs, which are helpful for treating various diseases. Besides its plethora of biological applications, its chelating ability offers the easiest synthetic route for synthesizing more active metal complexes. DHA derivatives along with their metal complexes show a number of biological activities and also exhibit various interactions with multiple biological targets. This article summarizes recent medicinal applications (2000‐onwards) of DHA‐based compounds and their analogs, along with their structure–activity relationship (SAR) analysis. Their interactions with different target enzymes are also discussed. This information derived from SAR analysis would be helpful for medicinal chemists working on the development of drugs based on heterocyclic frameworks, particularly those based on the DHA scaffold.
This review summarizes various reports highlighting the medicinal importance of dehydroacetic acid‐based derivatives and their metal complexes as an important precursor for the synthesis of more bioactive scaffolds.

Abstract
Background
To assess knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) of women regarding menstrual hygiene and to evaluate the use of reusable sanitary napkins as an alternative to disposable ...sanitary napkins.
Methods
A community-based cross-sectional study was done in two phases. In the first phase, 50 married women attending Gynecology OPD were asked to use reusable sanitary napkins for 2 months. A pre- and post-usage vaginal swab testing was done to rule out genital infection. This study was extended in the second phase to another 534 women after confirming that reusable sanitary napkins do not cause genital infection and are acceptable. KAP analysis regarding menstrual hygiene was done for all women.
Results
In phase 1 of the study, the microbiological evaluation revealed no pathological organisms on vaginal swab culture after 2 months of usage. KAP analysis of 584 women revealed that only 26% women had awareness about menstruation before attaining menarche; in 51.88%, the primary source of information was their mother; 76.54% women in the study used disposable sanitary pads of which 15% were disposing of them unhygienically; 80.49% women found the reusable napkins comfortable and easy to use and 83.6% women confirmed recommending these napkins to others.
Conclusion
Reusable sanitary pads are an effective, environment friendly, and cost-effective alternative to disposable napkins.
Background: Yoga is a practice which amalgamates the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual aspects of the human body through physical postures(asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), ...concentration and meditation (dharana and dhyana). Evaluation of databases suggests a positive role of yoga in pregnancies associated with depression, anxiety and lumbosacral pain and also in reducing antepartum complications and pain score during labor. These beneficial effects of yoga are suggested but more systematic researches are required to validate it. With the background of above researches, we undertook the study to evaluate the effect of prenatal yoga and meditation on maternal and fetal outcomes. Aim of the study was to determine the effect of antenatal meditation and yoga on obstetric and fetal outcome. Methods: This was a prospective randomized trial conducted in the antenatal OPD of the institute. Sixty primigravida women with low risk pregnancy between 18 to 26 weeks gestation were included in the trial.They were randomly divided into two equal groups; interventional group underwent meditation and yoga sessions of 30 minutes twice in a week till delivery. Obstetric outcomes including gestational age, antepartum and intrapartum complications, cord blood cortisol levels at delivery and neonatal outcomes were recorded.. Results: Thirteen women went post-dated as compared to 3 in the interventional group which was statistically significant (p=0.0003). APGAR scores of neonates in the interventional group showed a highly significant improvement with p=0.0013 as compared to the control group. Cord blood cortisol levels were higher than 10 ng/ml in 16 women in the control group compared to 7 in the group who performed yoga and meditation with p=0.01. NICU admissions were significantly more (p=0.002) in the control group. Conclusions: Meditation and yoga during pregnancy improves maternal and neonatal outcomes.
