First, This paper constructs a multimodal teaching model based on teaching contents, activities, learning environment and learning means and examines measures to illustrate teaching English and ...American literature under language acquisition theory. Secondly, it uses Fourier transform and discrete cosine transform to preprocess audio signals, extracts emotional features from MFCC according to the bidirectional long and short-term memory network algorithm of attention, proposes to use representational learning and attention mechanism to focus on the detected emotional regions, and analyzes the multimodalized teaching of English and American literature course and the emotion of teaching speech reading in multimodal English and American literature. The results showed that on the multimodalized English and American literature course, the experimental class had mean scores of 21.81, 8.04, 6.71, and 7.08 on each test, respectively, and the experimental class outperformed the control class on all tests of English and American literature instruction. On the analysis of speech reading aloud emotion evaluation, the model assessment score and teacher assessment error were 2.3, the correlation coefficient was 0.6982, and the overall performance of the model of speech reading aloud emotion analysis of English and American literature was relatively reliable. Students' literary emotional literacy is developed through this study, and a multidimensional interpretation of English and American literature is achieved.
This research creates an online communication platform using a mathematical statistics multiple regression model to modify the online lesson plan. The irregular variables in the resource base data ...are precisely measured, and the regularity of the variables is discovered using mathematical statistics. To improve the teaching resource base, the partial derivatives of the sum of squares are found, the regression values are obtained, and the dispersion of the regression values are all obtained using the maximum likelihood estimation approach. Learning English using the developed instructional resource base increased average score by 1.7 points. It demonstrates how the created teaching resource base for English in colleges and universities is effectively used and how multiple linear regression causes the independent and dependent variables to correlate nicely.
Theories of perceived overqualification have tended to focus on employees’ job-related responses to account for effects on performance. We offer an alternative perspective and theorize that perceived ...overqualification could influence work performance through a relational mechanism. We propose that relational skills, in the form of interpersonal influence of overqualified employees, determine their tendency to experience social acceptance and, thus, engage in positive work-related behaviors. We tested this relational model across two studies using time-lagged, multisource data. In Study 1, the results indicated that for employees high on interpersonal influence, perceived overqualification was positively related to self-reported social acceptance, whereas for employees low on interpersonal influence, the relationship was negative. Social acceptance, in turn, was positively related to in-role job performance, interpersonal altruism, and team member proactivity evaluated by supervisors. In Study 2, we focused on peer-reported social acceptance and found that the indirect relationships between perceived overqualification and supervisor-reported behavioral outcomes via social acceptance were negative when interpersonal influence was low and nonsignificant when interpersonal influence was high. The implications of the general findings are discussed.
Based on the job characteristics model and career construction theory, this study examined the role of internship quality in the employment success of Chinese university students. A four-wave survey ...study was conducted in a sample of university graduates (N = 207) and the results showed that after the effects of baseline career adaptability (Time 1) were controlled, internship quality (Time 2) and proactive personality (Time 2) positively were both associated with subsequent career adaptability (Time 3), which was further related to indicators of employment success (number of job offers, starting salary, and job search efficiency) at Time 4. In addition, internship quality was also found to be a significant moderator of the relationship between proactive personality and career adaptability as well as employment success, such that when internship quality was lower, the indirect effect of proactive personality on job search success through career adaptability was stronger. The corresponding moderated mediation model was also supported by the results. These findings carry implications for future studies on school-to-work transition and organizational recruitment practices.
•This paper demonstrated the beneficial effect of internship quality on employment success.•Career adaptability mediated the positive relationship between proactive personality and employment success.•Internship quality significantly predicted career adaptability after controlling for proactive personality.•Internship quality moderated the mediation of career adaptability.

•All the reclaimed soil nutrients tested increased between 2013 and 2017.•Land use type and reclamation age interacted to affect reclaimed soil nutrients.•The most improved SAP, SAK, ...STN and SOM were mainly distributed in grassland.•Grassland with alfalfa should be considered in the initial stage of reclamation.•Hybrid models of trees, shrubs, and grasses should be explored in the long term.
Soil nutrients are critical indicators of land reclamation effects and play significant roles in soil restoration in degraded mining areas; however, few studies have analyzed the characteristics and variations in soil nutrients after reclamation in ecologically fragile regions on the Loess Plateau. To analyze the spatial and temporal variations in reclaimed soil nutrients, an experimental field was established in an inner reclaimed dump consisting of four land use types (cultivated land (CL), forestland (FL), grassland (GL), and barren land (BL)) in the Antaibao mine on the Loess Plateau of China. Sampling was conducted in 2013 and 2017, with 78 and 81 sampling points, respectively. The soil available phosphorus (SAP), soil available potassium (SAK), soil total nitrogen (STN) and soil organic matter (SOM) contents at depths of 0–20 cm were measured at each sampling point, and the variations in soil nutrients were analyzed using two-way multivariate analysis of variance, geostatistical analysis, and correspondence analysis. This study revealed the following: (1) All the reclaimed soil nutrients tested increased between 2013 and 2017. (2) There were significant differences in the SAP, SAK, STN and SOM contents among land use types and reclamation ages, and land use type and reclamation age had an interaction effect on the reclaimed soil nutrients. (3) The spatial distributions of the SAP, SAK, STN and SOM contents in 2017 were significantly different from those in 2013 but were almost consistent with the distributions of soil nutrient changes between 2013 and 2017. (4) The most improved SAP, SAK, STN and SOM (SAP-VI, SAK-VI, STN-VI, and SOM-VI) were predominantly distributed in the GL, and there was no obvious trend for the other land use types. These findings are significant for the restoration of reclaimed soil nutrients and provide reasonable land use type options for land reclamation in coal mining areas, especially in ecologically fragile areas on the Loess Plateau.
The maximization principle—that people aspire to the highest possible level of something good if all practical constraints are removed—is a common yet untested assumption about human nature. We ...predict that in holistic cultures—where contradiction, change, and context are emphasized—ideal states of being for the self will be more moderate than in other cultures. In two studies (Ns = 2,392 and 6,239), we asked this question: If participants could choose their ideal level of happiness, pleasure, freedom, health, self-esteem, longevity, and intelligence, what level would they choose? Consistent with predictions, results showed that maximization was less pronounced in holistic cultures; members of holistic cultures aspired to less happiness, pleasure, freedom, health, self-esteem, longevity, and IQ than did members of other cultures. In contrast, no differences emerged on ideals for society. The studies show that the maximization principle is not a universal aspect of human nature and that there are predictable cultural differences in people’s notions of perfection.
Basing on career construction theory and self-verification theory, current research examined the mediating and moderating models for the relations among self-esteem, proactive personality, career ...exploration, future work self and career adaptability. A two-wave survey study was conducted among Chinese university students (N=305). The results showed that both self-esteem and proactive personality (measured at time 1) positively predicted future work self and career adaptability (measured at time 2), with these relationships mediated by career exploration (measured at time 1). In addition, the results further revealed that the positive effect of self-esteem on career exploration was stronger among students who had a higher level of proactive personality. In support of the hypothesized moderated mediation model, for individuals with a higher level of proactive personality, the indirect effects of self-esteem on future work self and career adaptability through career exploration were stronger. These findings carry implications for research on career construction theory and career counseling practices.
•We examined effect of personality on career exploration and adaptability.•Both self-esteem and proactive personality positively predict career adaptability.•Career exploration mediates effects of self-esteem and proactive personality.•The effects of self-esteem are stronger at a higher level of proactive personality.

•We propose a new index based on phenological responses to effectively identify the disturbance ranges of coal mining activities.•The range of influence of PS on vegetation phenology ...-climate coupling relationship is 11–12 km.•Underground mining may have a greater impact on vegetation phenology than surface mining.
Coal mining activities not only damage the ecosystems located inside mining areas, but also affect the buffer areas located within a certain radius of the mining activities. Effectively identifying the range disturbed by mining activities is beneficial for guiding ecological restoration and ecological assessments in mining areas. However, methods for quantitatively identifying the range of disturbances associated with coal mining activities are still lacking. In this study, the phenological disturbance range index (PDRI) based on remote sensing observed vegetation phenology was proposed. Normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) time series data were collected, and land surface phenology parameters were estimated in the Pinshuo mining area on the Loess Plateau. The proportion of the phenology-climate coupling relationship destroyed by human activities was then calculated. The range of mining activity disturbances was then determined by mutually validating the function-fitting and trajectory-segmentation algorithms. The results show that the proposed PDRI can effectively identify the extent of disturbances resulting from mining activities. Clear differences among the PDRIs reflecting mining activity disturbances, urbanization disturbances and natural states were found. Taking the Pingshuo mine as an example, the range of disturbances was approximately 11 ∼ 12 km, and shaft mining was found to have a greater impact than open pit mining. The PDRI proposed herein solves the initial problem from a climate-response perspective and can be used as a standardized scheme to detect the extent of disturbances resulting from coal mining activities. This study can also provide a reference for policy formulation and ecological compensation range.
A hydrodynamic model of an interconnected fluidized bed for chemical looping combustion was established based on the Eulerian–Eulerian two-fluid model with the kinetic theory of granular flow. The ...effect of the drag model on the computational results was investigated and detailed hydrodynamics were predicted in the three-dimensional circulating fluidized bed (composed of a riser, bubbling bed, pot-seal and cyclone). Both qualitative and quantitative results indicated that the drag model had a significant effect on the flow behavior. The Gidaspow and the Syamlal & O'Brien drag models both produced accurate predictions in this study. The pressure balance of an interconnected fluidized bed revealed that the pressure in the bubbling bed was lower than that in the pot-seal and the riser, whilst still being higher than the pressure in the cyclone. The riser and bubbling bed were individually operated in fast and bubbling fluidization regions. The three distinct regions identified from the bottom to the top of the riser were: entrance region, bulk region and exit region. The solids volume fraction was higher in the near-wall region but lower in the center region for both the riser and bubbling bed. The coupled characteristics of the fluidized bed were predominantly identified by the strong effect of operational gas velocity in the riser on the hydrodynamics in the bubbling bed.
The instantaneous solids volume fraction distribution was predicted in the interconnected fluidized bed for chemical looping combustion (CLC) process. Both of the different fluidization regimes were observed in the CLC system: fast fluidization in the riser, and bubbling fluidization in the pot-seal and bubbling bed. Display omitted
