Abstract
Despite various RPA-based approaches being widely used, each has its own advantages and disadvantages that can influence the results. In spite of its several drawbacks, using realistic ...mean-field potential and just small number model-dependent parameter makes TGI-QRPA a very efficient RPA-based approach for investigating dipole responses. This work tests the applicability of the TGI-QRPA approach for investigating dipole excitations through a comparison with the up-to-date, fully self-consistent FAM-QRPA approach and the available experimental data. Take into account the fact FAM-QRPA approach has its own drawbacks, such a comparison will also show how the pros and cons of both models can influence the results. The result obtained here with the TGI-QRPA approach was close to that obtained through the up-to-date FAM-QRPA approach and in some aspects, it better reflected the experimental results in terms of the resonance energy and photo-absorption cross -sections of E1 strength. It can therefore be said that despite not being fully self-consistent, using the realistic mean-field potential (Woods–Saxon), analytically restoring the broken translational and Galilean invariances, and using a only two model parameters make the TGI-QRPA approach an effective tool for investigating dipole excitations, where calculations are performed for the electric dipole responses in deformed

With recent advances in the growth of CdZnTe (CZT) sensors, high-flux photon-counting detectors (PCDs) have begun to see more use commercially in non-destructive testing (NDT). One such application ...is food inspection, where radiography is currently used to detect undesirable contaminants introduced in the production and packaging processes. PCDs can offer better detection than conventional radiography due to the preservation of energy data by analyzing the pulse height of each x-ray detection and sorting the x-ray into one of a number of energy bins. However, there are a number of parameters that must be explored in order to offer efficient and efficacious detection of contaminants. Here, two such parameters were investigated in a phantom study with an 8×24 mm2 CZT detector for a number of common contaminant materials. The detectability of contaminants was evaluated based on their contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) in 2D transmission images. First, the energy bin demonstrating the highest CNR for each contaminant material was found by adjusting the threshold energies defining the edges of the bin. Second, various pixel binning schemes were utilized to lower noise and investigate the effect on the detectability based on the size of contaminants. CNR was maximized for pixel binning that corresponded to the approximate size of the contaminant objects in x-ray images.
High-speed atomic force microscopy (AFM) is actually a functional tool for the studies of dynamical phenomena of biological and chemical objects on a sub-second timescale. In order to increase the ...imaging speed, all dynamic components of AFM have to be optimized. This paper presents advancement in the development of a novel x-y scanner for high-speed non-contact AFM. We have developed a quasi-monolithic integration of a silicon parallel kinematic mechanism with piezoelectric actuators. Decoupling of motion in x-y directions is realized due to novel -shaped flexures. For the control of the stage motion, we employed piezoresistive sensors integrated into silicon L-shaped guidance features. Due to the use of a push-pull actuation principle, we obtained a large scanning frequency and a 6 × 6 µm2 scanning area. The resonance frequency of the stage is about 26 kHz. The silicon stage facilitates fast quantitative imaging with high lateral resolution.
In this paper presented the results of the ionizing radiation detector modules, which developed on the basis of a new generation of micropixel avalanche photodiode (MAPD) of MAPD-3NK type. The ...samples were produced in cooperation with the Zecotek Photonics and characterized by the following parameters: sensitive area-3.7 mm x 3.7 mm, density of pixels-10000 pixels/mm super(2), photon detection efficiency-35-40% (at wavelength of 450-550 nm) and operation voltage-91 V. The beta particle and gamma ray detection performance of MAPD with different single scintillation crystal such as NaI, LFS and p-terphenyl was investigated. The gamma ray detector modules demonstrated a perfect linear behavior of detected signal amplitudes as a function of the gamma ray energy (from 26.3 keV up to 1.33 MeV). Energy resolution for 662 keV gamma rays was 11.2% and the minimum detectable energy was 26.3 keV.
Objectives. The infrastructural aspects of integrated interaction and factors impacting on the efficiency increase of regional participation in the creation of added value chains on the example of ...cooperation between developed and developing countries during the implementation of joint production projects are considered.Methods. A factor analysis of the degree of various countries’ involvement into global added value chains is carried out, taking into account their geographical location, natural resources and openness of markets, as well as the infrastructure, professional knowledge of the workforce, practice of cooperation of domestic firms with foreign partners and the attractiveness of their investment climate.Results. An evaluation of the integrated potential of individual countries, which could undertake the functions of integrators and mediators within the implementation of regional programmes of social and economic development, is presented. The growth potential is estimated and the role of global creation chains of added value (AVC) revealed as a tool for increasing the competitiveness of national trade policies. It is determined that, when adopting the latest technologies, companies strive to geographically approximate the placement of the middle links of added value chains to specialised suppliers, “smart” consumers and scientific centres as a means of maintaining innovation continuity.Conclusion. The countries of the EEU and the CIS have significant potential for developing cooperation in the field of transition to a model of new economic growth, as well as in the development and application of regional added value chains. As well as the extractive sector of the economy of the EEU and CIS countries, included in the regional added value chains, agriculture, chemical and textile industries, metallurgy, transport engineering, and services sector have the potential to be key industries.
