We report the first observation of the magnon-polariton bistability in a cavity magnonics system consisting of cavity photons strongly interacting with the magnons in a small yttrium iron garnet ...(YIG) sphere. The bistable behaviors emerged as sharp frequency switchings of the cavity magnon polaritons (CMPs) and related to the transition between states with large and small numbers of polaritons. In our experiment, we align, respectively, the 100 and 110 crystallographic axes of the YIG sphere parallel to the static magnetic field and find very different bistable behaviors (e.g., clockwise and counter-clockwise hysteresis loops) in these two cases. The experimental results are well fitted and explained as being due to the Kerr nonlinearity with either a positive or negative coefficient. Moreover, when the magnetic field is tuned away from the anticrossing point of CMPs, we observe simultaneous bistability of both magnons and cavity photons by applying a drive field on the lower branch.
Background and Aims
Mast cell activation interferes with the effects of allergen‐specific immunotherapy (SIT). Galectin‐1 (Gal‐1) is capable of regulating immune cells’ functions. This study tests ...the hypothesis that administration of Gal‐1 promotes and prolongs the efficacy of SIT via suppressing mast cell activation.
Methods
An intestinal allergy mouse model was developed. The coadministration of SIT and Gal‐1 on suppression of the allergic responses, prevention of mast cell activation, and generation of antigen‐specific regulatory T cells (Treg) in the intestine was observed in sensitized mice.
Results
The coadministration of Gal‐1 and SIT markedly suppressed the allergic responses in the mouse intestine vs the use of either SIT alone or Gal‐1 alone. The Gal‐1 binds to the IgE/FcɛRI complexes on the surface of mast cells to prevent mast cell activation during SIT. Gal‐1 promoted the SIT‐generated allergen‐specific Tregs in the intestine of sensitized mice. Coadministration of Gal‐1 and SIT significantly enhanced the efficacy of immunotherapy in suppressing allergic responses in the intestine, which lasted for at least for 12 months.
Conclusions
Long‐term effects of specific immunotherapy on intestinal allergy can be achieved with Gal‐1/SIT therapy by inhibiting mast cell activation and facilitating Treg development.
A stress assisted diffusion model considering concentration-dependent elastic modulus of active material has been established for the multi-layered electrodes of lithium batteries. The physical ...mechanism for the effect of modulus variation on the Li-ion diffusion and corresponding biaxial stress is well elucidated. Moreover, the analytic solutions of maximum stress in both active layer and collector are respectively derived. It has been found that the modulus stiffening gives rise to the additional stress gradient and enhances Li-ion diffusion, therefore to increase the biaxial stress in the plate electrode. In contrast, modulus softening makes the stress assisted diffusion less significant and the corresponding stresses are reduced. These coupled effects are more significant during potentiostatic charging and galvanostatic charging with high charging rates. Moreover, the maximum stress in the active layer is independent of charging process, but depends upon the elastic modulus variation due to Li-ion insertion. Finally, with increasing thickness ratio between collector and active material, the impacts of concentration dependent modulus on the Li-ion diffusion in active layer decreases, whereas this effect on maximum stress in the current collector increases.

Here we present an experimental emulation of creating anyonic ...excitations in a superconducting circuit that consists of four qubits, achieved by dynamically generating the ground and excited states of the toric code model, i.e., four-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states. The anyonic braiding is implemented via single-qubit rotations: a phase shift of π related to braiding, the hallmark of Abelian 1/2 anyons, has been observed through a Ramsey-type interference measurement.

Knowledge of the rigidity dependence of the boron to carbon flux ratio (B/C) is important in understanding the propagation of cosmic rays. The precise measurement of the B/C ratio from 1.9 GV to 2.6 ...TV, based on 2.3 million boron and 8.3 million carbon nuclei collected by AMS during the first 5 years of operation, is presented. The detailed variation with rigidity of the B/C spectral index is reported for the first time. The B/C ratio does not show any significant structures in contrast to many cosmic ray models that require such structures at high rigidities. Remarkably, above 65 GV, the B/C ratio is well described by a single power law R^{Δ} with index Δ=-0.333±0.014(fit)±0.005(syst), in good agreement with the Kolmogorov theory of turbulence which predicts Δ=-1/3 asymptotically.
Recently a dark matter-electron (DM-electron) paradigm has drawn much attention. Models beyond the standard halo model describing DM accelerated by high energy celestial bodies are under intense ...examination as well. In this Letter, a velocity components analysis (VCA) method dedicated to swift analysis of accelerated DM-electron interactions via semiconductor detectors is proposed and the first HPGe detector-based accelerated DM-electron analysis is realized. Utilizing the method, the first germanium based constraint on sub-GeV solar reflected DM-electron interaction is presented with the 205.4 kg·day dataset from the CDEX-10 experiment. In the heavy mediator scenario, our result excels in the mass range of 5-15 keV/c^{2}, achieving a 3 orders of magnitude improvement comparing with previous semiconductor experiments. In the light mediator scenario, the strongest laboratory constraint for DM lighter than 0.1 MeV/c^{2} is presented. The result proves the feasibility and demonstrates the vast potential of the VCA technique in future accelerated DM-electron analyses with semiconductor detectors.
Varied causative and risk factors can lead to cardiac dysfunction. Cardiac dysfunction often evolves into heart failure by cardiac remodeling due to autonomic nervous system disturbance and ...neurohumoral abnormalities, even if the detriment factors are removed. Renal sympathetic nerve activity plays a pivotal regulatory role in neurohumoral mechanisms. The present study was designed to determine the therapeutic effects of renal sympathetic denervation (RSD) on cardiac dysfunction, fibrosis, and neurohumoral response in transverse aortic constriction (TAC) rats with chronic pressure overload. The present study demonstrated that RSD attenuated myocardial fibrosis and hypertrophy, and structural remodeling of the left atrium and ventricle, up-regulated cardiac beta adrenoceptor (beta-AR, including beta(1)AR and beta(2)AR) and sarco-endoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+)-ATPase (SERCA) while down-regulated angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT(1)R), and decreased plasma B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), norepinephrine (NE), angiotensin II (Ang II), and arginine vasopressin (AVP) levels in TAC rats with chronic pressure overload. We conclude that RSD attenuates myocardial fibrosis, the left atrial enlargement, and the left ventricular wall hypertrophy; inhibits the overdrive of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS), renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), and AVP system in TAC rats with chronic pressure overload. RSD could be a promising non-pharmacological approach to control the progression of cardiac dysfunction.
