Eine Strategie für die Synthese dreidimensionaler Hexakisimidazolium‐Käfigverbindungen wurde entwickelt. Die Reaktion von trigonalen Trisimidazolium‐Salzen H3L(PF6)3 mit drei terminalen ...N‐Olefin‐Substituenten und Silberoxid ergibt molekulare Trisilber‐Hexacarben‐Zylinder des Typs Ag3(L)23+, in denen die N‐Olefin‐Substituenten von zwei unterschiedlichen Tricarben‐Liganden paarweise angeordnet sind. UV‐Bestrahlung führt über drei 2+2‐Cycloadditionen zu drei Cyclobutan‐Brücken zwischen den beiden Tris‐NHC‐Liganden und damit zu einem dreidimensionalen Hexakis‐NHC‐Liganden. Das Entfernen der Metallionen ergibt dreidimensionale Hexakisimidazolium‐Käfigkationen mit einem großen inneren Hohlraum; dies sind die ersten Beispiele für derartige Verbindungen.
Aller guten Dinge sind drei: Mithilfe einer effizienten Templatsynthese lassen sich dreidimensionale Hexakisimidazolium‐Käfigverbindungen ausgehend von trigonalen Trisimidazolium‐Salzen mit drei N‐Olefin‐Substituenten und Silberionen als Metalltemplaten herstellen.
We present and interpret simultaneous new photometric and spectroscopic observations of the peculiar magnetic white dwarf WD 1953--011. The flux in the V-band filter and intensity of the Balmer ...spectral lines demonstrate variability with the rotation period of about 1.45 days. According to previous studies, this variability can be explained by the presence of a dark spot having a magnetic nature, analogous to a sunspot. Motivated by this idea, we examine possible physical relationships between the suggested dark spot and the strong-field magnetic structure (magnetic 'spot' or 'tube') recently identified on the surface of this star. Comparing the rotationally modulated flux with the variable spectral observables related to the magnetic 'spot,' we establish their correlation and therefore their physical relationship. Modeling the variable photometric flux assuming that it is associated with temperature variations in the stellar photosphere, we argue that the strong-field area and dark, low-temperature spot are comparable in size and located at the same latitudes, essentially overlapping each other with a possible slight longitudinal shift. In this paper, we also present a new, improved value of the star's rotational period and constrain the characteristics of the thermal inhomogeneity over the degenerate's surface.

Der hierdurch entstehende SMN-Mangel verursacht eine progressive Degeneration anteriorer Motorneurone, die zu einer muskulären Atrophie und in zwei Drittel der Fälle zu einer Skoliose führt. In Abhängigkeit von den beschriebenen Subtypen kommt es bei der SMA zu einer zunehmenden Ateminsuffizienz und einem frühen Versterben der PatientInnen. Herausragende Fortschritte in der Grundlagenforschung haben in den letzten Jahren zur Zulassung neuer Therapien geführt, die das Krankheitsbild und dessen Therapie verändern werden. Wir stellen diese innovativen Therapieansätze als auch die operativen Strategien bei Skoliosen vor, und geben einen Ausblick auf zukünftige Herausforderungen.
The mass function and statistics of binaries provide important diagnostics of the star formation process. Despite this importance, the mass function at low masses remains poorly known due to ...observational difficulties caused by the faintness of the objects. Here we report the microlensing discovery and characterization of a binary lens composed of very low mass stars just above the hydrogen-burning limit. From the combined measurements of the Einstein radius and microlens parallax, we measure the masses of the binary components of 0.10 ? 0.01 M and 0.09 ? 0.01 M . This discovery demonstrates that microlensing will provide a method to measure the mass function of all Galactic populations of very low mass binaries that is independent of the biases caused by the luminosity of the population.
Antagonism of the bradykinin B1 receptor was demonstrated to be a potential treatment for chronic pain and inflammation. Novel benzodiazepines were designed that display subnanomolar affinity for the ...bradykinin B1 receptor (K i = 0.59 nM) and high selectivity against the bradykinin B2 receptor (K i > 10 μM). In vivo efficacy, comparable to morphine, was demonstrated for lead compounds in a rodent hyperalgesia model.
