Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most prevalent neoplasm in females globally, with an increasing incidence trend almost in all regions. Previous studies have indicated that non-alcoholic fatty ...liver disease (NAFLD) may be an emerging risk factor for extrahepatic cancers, including BC. This systematic review and meta-analysis study aimed to determine the association between NAFLD and the development of BC.Method: Data were systematically collected without time limitation until 21 April 2022, from the following electronic databases: PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The association between NAFLD and BC with odds ratio (OR) was calculated with a 95% confidence interval (CI) and presented via forest plots. Hazard ratios along with incidence rate ratios in the cohort studies transformed into OR.Results: According to the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) and the inclusion criteria herein, 11 eligible studies were obtained from various countries. The pooled OR of NAFLD as a risk of developing BC, using a random-effects model, was estimated at 1.61 (95% CI: 1.30-2.00) (Q-value: 51.35, I2 = 80.52%, P < 0.0001). Multivariate meta-regression analysis showed that the publication year-, country-, detection method-, study design-, and body mass index-adjusted status did not cause heterogeneity. The Egger's regression (P = 0.32) and the symmetry in the funnel plot showed no publication bias in the studies.Conclusion: The present research revealed that NAFLD had a significant association with BC, independent of traditional risk factors.
Background: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a widespread health concern with high recurrence rates and substantial economic impact, and they can increase the prevalence of antibiotic resistance. ...This study employed an integrated bioinformatics approach to identify key genes associated with UTI development, offering potential targets for interventions. Materials and Methods: For this study, the microarray dataset GSE124917 from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database was selected and reanalyzed. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between UTIs and healthy samples were identified using the LIMMA package in R software. In this section, Enrichr database was utilized to perform functional enrichment analysis of DEGs. Subsequently, the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of the DEGs was constructed and visualized through Cytoscape, utilizing the STRING online database. The identification of hub genes was performed using Cytoscape’s cytoHubba plug-in employing various methods. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was performed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of hub genes. Results: Among the outcomes of the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis, the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) signaling pathway was identified as one of the notable pathways. The PPI network of the DEGs was successfully established and visualized in Cytoscape with the aid of the STRING online database. Using cytoHubba with different methods, we identified seven hub genes (STAT1, IL6, IFIT1, IFIT3, IFIH1, MX1, and IRF7). Based on the ROC analysis, all hub genes showed high diagnostic value. Conclusion: These findings provide a valuable baseline for future research aimed at unraveling the intricate molecular mechanisms behind UTI.

Most patients with HS, who are not aware of their primary disease, visit primary care physicians to superinfection lesions instead of specialists. If these physicians suspect HS, their illness will not get misdiagnosed. This brief and comprehensive information in this article may help doctors to decide better about the same situation.

Background
Comorbidity is a current area of interest in multiple sclerosis (MS) and is essential for multidisciplinary management. Although recent studies suggest that patients with MS have an ...elevated risk of developing inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), this systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to estimate the overall risk of developing ulcerative colitis (UC), specifically in patients with MS.
Methods
In 2021, a comprehensive literature search was performed on PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science to identify studies investigating the association between UC and MS. The selected papers were utilized to estimate the associations, risk ratios (RRs), and a 95% confidence interval (CI).
Results
The analysis revealed a slightly elevated risk of UC incidence in patients with MS compared to controls, but this finding was not statistically significant (RR: 1.27 95% CI: 0.96–1.67). In contrast, the study found that patients with UC have a significantly higher risk of developing MS than controls (RR: 1.66 95% CI: 1.15–2.40).
Conclusion
Our findings highlight that the presence of UC increases the risk of developing MS by more than 50%, whereas the presence of MS does not increase the risk of UC occurrence. These results underscore the importance of considering the potential development of UC in the clinical management and early diagnosis of patients with MS, as it may contribute to better therapeutic outcomes.
Introduction

Objectives
: This study aimed to evaluate testosterone level in men with ...and without metabolic syndrome to determine the relationship between testosterone and metabolic syndrome.
Patients and Methods
: This case-control study was conducted on 172 cases of metabolic syndrome and 172 participants as a control group in Rasoul Akram hospital, Tehran, Iran. Demographic characteristics, fasting blood sugar (FBS), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), cholesterol, triglyceride (TG), and testosterone levels were recorded. SPSS version 21.0 and SAS version 9.1 were used for statistical analysis. Level of significance was considered 0.05.
Results
: The mean age of the two groups were 45.1±9.3 years and 41.5 ±11.2 years, respectively. There was a significant difference in serum testosterone levels between both groups and low testosterone levels were associated with metabolic syndrome (P<0.001). Serum testosterone levels showed a significant negative correlation with age in the metabolic syndrome group (r= -0.16, P=0.02). The relationship between metabolic syndrome and total plasma testosterone level using logistic regression model showed that, by increasing the total plasma testosterone level, the odds ratio for metabolic syndrome was 0.076 (95% CI: 0.027-0.216; P< 0.001).
Conclusion
: According to the results, low level of testosterone was related to the presence of metabolic syndrome in adult males. Future studies can investigate diagnostic value of testosterone level in this syndrome.
Introduction: Diabetes is one of the most common diseases in the world that is accompanied with many microvascular complications. Any chronic disease such as diabetes can cause types of mood ...disorders such as depression in patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of depression in type 2 diabetics with microvascular complications. Execution Method: In this cross-sectional study, type 2 diabetics with microvascular complications that referred to Hazrat Rasoul Akram Hospital during 2016-2017 were studied. After verification of retinopathy and nephropathy in patients, 100 patients were enrolled in the study and correlated between variables such as age, sex, body mass index, medication, education, retinopathy, nephropathy, marital status, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL), blood pressure, and fasting blood sugar was investigated in patients given the possibility of depression. Results: The results of this study showed that 72% of patients were with depression and by evaluating the mentioned variables with depression disorder it was found that there was a significant relationship between fasting blood sugar, HbA1C, retinopathy, medication, and LDL with depression. Conclusion: Given the high prevalence of depression (72%) in diabetics in this study, it seems that psychiatric consultation is needed to diagnose depression in diabetics.

Background: Chronic functional constipation is one of functional gastrointestinal disorders. Constipation has negative impact on quality of life (QOL). Pharmacological and non-pharmacological ...treatments are considered for constipation. This study was designed to compare the efficacy of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and abdominal massage on symptoms and quality of life improvement in functional constipation. Methods: In this randomize clinical trial study, all the patients with functional constipation, based on Rome IV criteria, with age of 18-65 years, who referred to gastroenterology clinic of Rasoul-e-Akram university hospital, Tehran, Iran, were enrolled. The patients were randomly assigned to two groups of treatment with polyethylene glycol or abdominal massage. Basic demographic data, Patient Assessment of Constipation Quality of Life (PAC-QOL) questionnaire, Bristol score, and presenting symptoms were recorded. We visited our patients in 2 weeks at the end of treatment and 2 weeks after completing treatment. Drug adverse effects and patient's adherence to treatment were recorded in data gathering sheets, too. The data were compared between the two groups using SPSS software. Findings: 94 patients (47 patients in each group) completed the study. Constipation was more common in women, and low income, educated, and married patients. No significant difference was seen in demographic data between the groups. Quality of life score was significantly better in polyethylene glycol therapy than abdominal massage (P = 0.028). Moreover, symptoms (P = 0.032) and Bristol score (P < 0.001) were significantly improved more in polyethylene glycol therapy. Treatment side effects were seen in 8% of polyethylene glycol group, as well as 1% in abdominal massage group (P < 0.001), which were transient and mild. Conclusion: Abdominal massage is a non-surgical non-medical modality for treatment of functional constipation. It is feasible, without any cost and adverse effect; but it is not an effective modality, lonely. Further studies should be considered to combine abdominal massage with other treatment modalities in these patients.

To examine the association between hematological indices and anthropometric measurement, with prediabetes.
This cross-sectional study was conducted on 125 diabetics and 259 prediabetics in the 20-70 age range. They were selected by a convenience sampling method at the Taban Diabetes Center in 2015. An oral glucose tolerance test was performed for each participant who had never been diagnosed with diabetes. Participants were characterized as having prediabetes or diabetes according to American Diabetes Association criteria. The hematologic parameters were measured by using Sysmex-KX 21N analyzers. Data were analyzed by IBM-SPSS version 22 using independent-samples t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient at p<0.05.
There was significant difference in mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCVH) (33.81±0.92 g/dL vs. 34.06±1.05 g/dL) between prediabetes patients and diabetes. There was not a statistically significant difference in the prediabetics' hematological parameters, compared with the diabetics. In the prediabetic group, only the mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration was found to be negatively correlated with diastolic blood pressure (p=0.013) and FBS (p=0.026).
Hematological indices are important markers for the assessment of variations in size, number, and maturity of different blood cells. Hematological indices could be utile indicators of vascular complication and glycemic control in type 2 DM patients. Thus, they are important for the evaluation and early management of patients with per diabetes.
Cell‐derived exosomes are identified as carriers of lipids, proteins, and genetic materials that participate in cell‐cell signal communication, biological process, and cell signaling. Also, their ...involvement has been reported in a vast array of disorders and inflammatory conditions such as autoimmune diseases. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a common cause of joint disorder, is an inflammation‐based disease in which the precise understanding of its pathogenesis needs to be further investigated. Also, there is only a palliative care approach for the alleviation of RA symptoms. This paper discusses the recent advances in the biology of exosomes in autoimmune disorders especially in RA, and also provides a new line of research for arthritis therapy using exosomes.
