An advanced MVA technology, AMVA III (AUO or Advanced MVA generation III) which is a protrusion‐free technology has been developed. The AMVA III TFT‐LCD panel has high optical transmittance (20% ...higher than conventional MVA), high static contrast ratio (>8000:1), fast response time, low color washout, and substantially free from motion blur. This advanced technology is newly launched for mass‐production in LCD‐TV.
Objective The association between type 2 diabetes and low testosterone has been well recognized. However, testosterone levels in men with prediabetes have been rarely reported. We aimed to ...investigate whether prediabetes was associated with an increased risk of testosterone deficiency. Methods This study included 1,306 men whose sex hormones was measured during a medical examination. Serum total testosterone and sex hormone-binding globulin were measured; free and bioavailable testosterone concentrations were calculated by Vermeulen's formula. Prediabetes was defined by impaired fasting glucose (IFG), impaired postprandial glucose (IPG), or glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) 5.7%-6.4%. Logistic regression was performed to obtain the odds ratios (OR) for subnormal total testosterone (<300 ng/dL) or free testosterone (<6 ng/dL) in prediabetic and diabetic men compared with normoglycemic individuals, while adjusting for age, BMI, waist circumference, and metabolic syndrome (MetS). Results Normoglycemia, prediabetes, and diabetes were diagnosed in 577 (44.2%), 543 (41.6%), and 186 (14.2%) men, respectively. Prediabetes was associated with an increased risk of subnormal total testosterone compared to normoglycemic individuals (age-adjusted OR=1.87; 95%CI=1.38-2.54). The risk remained significant in all multivariate analyses. After adjusting for MetS, the OR in prediabetic men equals that of diabetic patients (1.49 versus 1.50). IFG, IPG, and HbA1c 5.7%-6.4% were all associated with an increased risk of testosterone deficiency, with different levels of significance in multivariate analyses. However, neither prediabetes nor diabetes was associated with subnormal free testosterone in multivariate analyses. Conclusions Prediabetes is associated with an increased risk of testosterone deficiency, independent of obesity and MetS. After adjusting for MetS, the risk equals that of diabetes. Our data suggest that testosterone should be measured routinely in men with prediabetes.

This study synthesized and characterized a novel series of polyurethanes containing nonlinear optic (NLO) chromophores, which possess different dimensional or various isolation-groups. These ...chromophores are based on 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-methyl-6-(p-(dimethylamino)styryl)-4H-pyran (DCM-typed dye). The NLO polyurethane containing a one-dimensional isolation-group of chromophores efficiently enhances thermal stability, but poling efficiency is not always improved as the size of isolation-group increases. The enormous isolation group restrained the mobility of chromophore in the polymer matrix and shows a worsening SH intensity. The maximum second harmonic coefficient (d₃₃ = 68.7 pm/V) is displayed as benzene is attaching to chromophore moieties as isolation-group in this study. Polyurethane containing two-dimensional chromophore shows superior thermal stability due to the large volume required to rotate the chromophore in the polymer matrix. Two-dimensional system exhibits lower SH intensity due to the rigid polymer main chain and twisted conjugated plane.
Distributed video coding (DVC), based on Slepian-Wolf Theorem and/or Wyner-Ziv Theorem, was proposed to apply for the situation with little encoding and big decoding. We design and implement a ...distributed video decoder which is majorly composed of low-density parity-check accumulate (LDPCA), correlation noise modeling, soft input computation, and side information creation. Our proposed DVC decoder architecture, implemented in TSMC 90nm GUTM process technology, can meet the requirement of decoding a QCIF video with a speed of 30fps. The maximum operating frequency of the designed chip is 100MHz, the chip area is 4.67 mm 2 , and the gate count is 690K.
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), resulted from the compression of the median nerve traveling through the carpal tunnel of the hand, is commonly leading to intermittent numbness and pain of the finger. ...The diagnosis of CTS is usually performed by physical or nerve electricity examinations, and which still has significant false negative rate. To improve on the diagnostic technique, an attempt was carried out to image a local anatomical structure of the wrist using high-frequency ultrasound and to detect the kinetic trajectory of the median nerve following fingers motions. A 32 MHz ultrasound imaging system was employed on each right wrist of 14 healthy volunteer. Ultrasonic radio-frequency signals and images were collected corresponding to fingers movements from extension (0°) to flexion (90°) with an increment of 5°. The kinetic trajectory of the median nerve was detected by correlation coefficient-based motion tracking technique. To better improve the analysis efficiency of motion tracking, the tracking calculation was amenable to rapid execution on the current generation of graphics processor units. High-frequency ultrasound images could provide adequate resolution to readily discern the median nerve in the wrist. The median nerve moves toward to palmar and ulnar direction as the finger flex. The averaged resultant displacements for male and female were 3.74 and 2.04, respective, as the flexuous angle was 90°. The resultant displacements of median nerve for males were significant larger than those for females as the flexuous angles were larger than 35°. The tendency of resultant displacement of the median nerve is exponential rise in the ulna-palmar direction corresponding to the movement of fingers form 0° to 90°. This study has verified that the kinetic trajectory of median nerve may be useful as baseline data for future studies of the motion analysis on the CTS.
