This note is concerned with the stability analysis of discrete-time systems with time-varying state delay. By defining new Lyapunov functions and by making use of novel techniques to achieve delay ...dependence, several new conditions are obtained for the asymptotic stability of these systems. The merit of the proposed conditions lies in their less conservativeness, which is achieved by circumventing the utilization of some bounding inequalities for cross products between two vectors and by paying careful attention to the subtle difference between the terms Sigma m=k-dk k-1 (middot) and Sigma m=k-dM k-1 (middot), which is largely ignored in the existing literature. These conditions are shown, via several examples, to be much less conservative than some existing result
This paper presents a new approach to solving the problem of stabilization for networked control systems. Mean-square asymptotic stability is derived for the closed-loop networked control systems, ...and based on this, a controller design procedure is proposed for stabilization purpose. An inverted pendulum system is utilized to show the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed results.
This paper investigates the multirate networked industrial process control problem in double-layer architecture. First, the output tracking problem for sampled-data nonlinear plant at device layer ...with sampling period T d is investigated using adaptive neural network (NN) control, and it is shown that the outputs of subsystems at device layer can track the decomposed setpoints. Then, the outputs and inputs of the device layer subsystems are sampled with sampling period T u at operation layer to form the index prediction, which is used to predict the overall performance index at lower frequency. Radial basis function NN is utilized as the prediction function due to its approximation ability. Then, considering the dynamics of the overall closed-loop system, nonlinear model predictive control method is proposed to guarantee the system stability and compensate the network-induced delays and packet dropouts. Finally, a continuous stirred tank reactor system is given in the simulation part to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
A brief overview on the model-based control and data-driven control methods is presented. The data-driven equivalent dynamic linearization, as a foundational analysis tool of data-driven control ...methods for discrete-time nonlinear systems, is introduced in detail with motivations and distinct features. The prototype model-free adaptive control schemes by using the dynamic linearization to an unknown nonlinear plant model, as well as the alternative model-free adaptive control methods by using the dynamic linearization to an unknown ideal nonlinear controller, are discussed. Furthermore, the extensions of the dynamic linearization to unknown nonlinear repetitive systems and the corresponding model-free adaptive iterative learning control methods are also overviewed and summarized. This work highlights the characteristics and comments of the different model-free adaptive control schemes in detail to facilitate the understanding of the readers. Finally, some perspectives on data-driven control methods in information-rich age are given.
This paper investigates the problem of vibration isolation for vehicle active suspension systems, where parameter uncertainties, external disturbances, actuator saturation, and performance ...constraints are considered in an unified framework. A constrained adaptive robust control technology is developed to not only stabilize the attitude of vehicle in the context of parameter uncertainties and external disturbances, but also cover the problems of actuator saturation and performance constraints. Furthermore, the performance analysis of the closed-loop systems is given, by means of rigorous mathematical derivations. Extensive comparative experimental results are obtained to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control law.
This paper concerns the asynchronously switched control problem for a class of switched linear systems with average dwell time (ADT) in both continuous-time and discrete-time contexts. The so-called ...asynchronous switching means that the switchings between the candidate controllers and system modes are asynchronous. By further allowing the Lyapunov-like function to increase during the running time of active subsystems, the extended stability results for switched systems with ADT in nonlinear setting are first derived. Then, the asynchronously switched stabilizing control problem for linear cases is solved. Given the increase scale and the decrease scale of the Lyapunov-like function and the maximal delay of asynchronous switching, the minimal ADT for admissible switching signals and the corresponding controller gains are obtained. A numerical example is given to show the validity and potential of the developed results.
In recent years, the analysis and synthesis of fuzzy-model-based nonlinear networked control systems (NCSs) have received increasing attention from both scientific and industrial communities, and a ...number of significant results have been proposed. This paper gives a review on recent advances on the analysis and design of fuzzy-model-based nonlinear NCSs with various network-induced limitations such as packet dropouts, time delays, and signal quantization. With these network-induced constraints, the developments on various control and filtering design issues are surveyed in details, and some essential technical difficulties are mentioned. Then, some latest results on event-triggered control and filtering design of fuzzy-model-based nonlinear NCSs are also summarized. Finally, some conclusions are drawn and several potential future research topics are highlighted.
This paper presents a new delay system approach to network-based control. This approach is based on a new time-delay model proposed recently, which contains multiple successive delay components in ...the state. Firstly, new results on stability and

performance are proposed for systems with two successive delay components, by exploiting a new Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional and by making use of novel techniques for time-delay systems. An illustrative example is provided to show the advantage of these results. The second part of this paper utilizes the new model to investigate the problem of network-based control, which has emerged as a topic of significant interest in the control community. A sampled-data networked control system with simultaneous consideration of network induced delays, data packet dropouts and measurement quantization is modeled as a nonlinear time-delay system with two successive delay components in the state and, the problem of network-based

control is solved accordingly. Illustrative examples are provided to show the advantage and applicability of the developed results for network-based controller design.
In this technical note, a distributed velocity-constrained consensus problem is studied for discrete-time multi-agent systems, where each agent's velocity is constrained to lie in a nonconvex set. A ...distributed constrained control algorithm is proposed to enable all agents to converge to a common point using only local information. The gains of the algorithm for all agents need not to be the same or predesigned and can be adjusted by each agent itself based on its own and neighbors' information. It is shown that the algorithm is robust to arbitrarily bounded communication delays and arbitrarily switching communication graphs provided that the union of the graphs has directed spanning trees among each certain time interval. The analysis approach is based on multiple novel model transformations, proper control parameter selections, boundedness analysis of state-dependent stochastic matrices 1 , exploitation of the convexity of stochastic matrices, and the joint connectivity of the communication graphs. Numerical examples are included to illustrate the theoretical results.
This paper is concerned with the exponential synchronization for master-slave chaotic delayed neural network with event trigger control scheme. The model is established on a network control ...framework, where both external disturbance and network-induced delay are taken into consideration. The desired aim is to synchronize the master and slave systems with limited communication capacity and network bandwidth. In order to save the network resource, we adopt a hybrid event trigger approach, which not only reduces the data package sending out, but also gets rid of the Zeno phenomenon. By using an appropriate Lyapunov functional, a sufficient criterion for the stability is proposed for the error system with extended (<inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">\mathcal {X} </tex-math></inline-formula>, <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">\mathcal {Y} </tex-math></inline-formula>, <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">\mathcal {Z} </tex-math></inline-formula>)-dissipativity performance index. Moreover, hybrid event trigger scheme and controller are codesigned for network-based delayed neural network to guarantee the exponential synchronization between the master and slave systems. The effectiveness and potential of the proposed results are demonstrated through a numerical example.
