The paper will explain in more depth the particularities and ways of organizing an entrepreneurship activity in the SMEs. Furthermore, it would describe competitive strategies and their positioning within an SME. The aim of this study is to explore competitive strategies and ways of their application in the SME.
Having a qualified and trained workforce is an imperative for operating in the hotel management and tourism industry. Companies should show they care about their employees by giving them ...opportunities for promotion and development. The aim of this paper is to compare the staff training and development programs in the national hotels in Serbia with programs in international hotel chains. In order to achieve a predefined goal, we used the method of comparative analysis. Data for analysis were collected by researching the existing literature, the official hotel websites and interviewing managers in national hotels in Serbia. The results indicate that the staff training and development programs are more advanced in the international hotel chains. Management in the national hotels in Serbia is determined to follow different staff training and development programs. However, they should invest more in establishing more programs, especially those aimed at their staff's development which they can copy from the international hotel chains. The results of this research can be useful to hotel managers in the creation process of their own innovative staff training and development programs.
The coronavirus pandemic has a major impact on the global hotel industry. Hygiene, cleanliness, and safety have become crucial components in any hotel's recovery plan during the pandemic. Based on ...reviews from Booking.com, this paper examines the satisfaction of domestic guests in hotels in Vrnjačka Banja during the coronavirus pandemic. Additionally, by using the "Clean & Safe" certificate as a criterion for hotel classification, this paper seeks to discover whether there is any difference in the satisfaction of domestic guests depending on whether the facility has been certified in accordance with international quality standards as adequately prepared for virus control. Using a text mining approach, the components that led to guests' satisfaction or dissatisfaction were discovered and visualized with a word cloud. A sample of 206 reviews revealed that domestic guests are generally very satisfied with the hotels they stayed in during the pandemic. A slight difference in the components that affected guests' satisfaction, i.e., dissatisfaction, was noticed among the hotels that were certified (or not certified) as safe facilities for performing tourism activities. This paper provides a valuable insight for hotel managers to help them improve guest satisfaction during the coronavirus pandemic.
Meteorology is an essential part of people's lives. Its influence on every aspect of human life is vast and especially connected to the well-being of an individual. The objective of this paper is to ...ascertain how meteorologic changes influence the health of people who live in urban and rural environments. The testing was carried out on a sample of 130 respondents. The respondents are of different sex, age and come from various environments. This research was conducted via an anonymous questionnaire. The results point to the fact that meteorological changes affect the health and well-being of both healthy and ill individuals, whether they live in urban or rural environments. The significance of this paper is reflected in the acquiring of data that can be used in medicine as well as health tourism.
The development of domestic tourism is marked as one of the positive changes caused by the COVID-19 virus pandemic. The always popular spa destinations in Serbia are becoming more and more visited. ...Accordingly, it is necessary to determine which factors lead to the satisfaction or dissatisfaction of domestic guests in hotels. This paper will examine the satisfaction and dissatisfaction of hotel guests who shared their experiences through reviews on the Booking.com platform. The sample consisted of hotel guests in Vrnjačka Banja, because this destination stands out as the most visited during the coronary virus pandemic in Serbia. During August 2021, a total of 533 reviews of domestic tourists were collected, and the analysis of the obtained data was performed with the help of the SPSS 20 social science package and the RapidMiner data mining software. The analysis of the results revealed that a total of 8 factors affected the satisfaction of hotel guests during the corona virus pandemic, while a total of 5 factors influenced the dissatisfaction. The obtained results will help hotel managers in creating adequate strategies to improve those factors that are a source of dissatisfaction of guests such as the service provided, room equipment or additional facilities.

We sought to compare left ventricular deformation in subjects with white-coat hypertension to normotensive and sustained hypertensive patients. This cross-sectional study included 139 untreated ...subjects who underwent 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and completed 2- and 3-dimensional examination. Two-dimensional left ventricular multilayer strain analysis was also performed. White-coat hypertension was diagnosed if clinical blood pressure was elevated and 24-hour blood pressure was normal. Our results showed that left ventricular longitudinal and circumferential strains gradually decreased from normotensive controls across subjects with white-coat hypertension to sustained hypertensive group. Two- and 3-dimensional left ventricular radial strain, as well as 3-dimensional area strain, was not different between groups. Two-dimensional left ventricular longitudinal and circumferential strains of subendocardial and mid-myocardial layers gradually decreased from normotensive control to sustained hypertensive group. Longitudinal and circumferential strains of subepicardial layer did not differ between the observed groups. We concluded that white-coat hypertension significantly affects left ventricular deformation assessed by 2-dimensional traditional strain, multilayer strain, and 3-dimensional strain.
Seasonal blooms of the invasive ctenophore Mnemiopsis leidyi have been recorded throughout the Adriatic Sea, affecting the ecosystem and its pelagic resources. Gelatinous organisms such as M. leidyi ...release significant quantities of excreta as labile and surface active dissolved organic carbon (DOC) that supports the microbial activity.
The effects of M. leidyi's presence on heterotrophic prokaryotes (HP), cyanobacteria (CB) and heterotrophic nanoflagellates (HNF) were investigated at five locations in the coastal waters of Rovinj-Rovigno (northern Adriatic) during intensive blooms in September 2019. Additionally, circulation in the study area was examined using available current measurements and a hydrodynamic model. In September, low-pass filtered currents near the surface were mostly directed toward S-SE reaching 25 cm/s, indicating the presence of the Istrian Coastal Countercurrent (ICCC).
Ctenophores displayed a patchy spatial distribution from 0.05 to 100 M. leidyi individuals per m3. When ctenophore density in the swarms surpassed 1 individual per m3, the change in the abundances of microbial groups became evident. The lowest microbial densities and lowest concentrations of dissolved and particulate organic carbon (DOC and POC) and surface-active substances occurred in the absence of M. leidyi, while the highest were within the swarms.
We hypothesise that HP utilises the available DOC enhancing the remineralisation of organic matter. Finally, greater availability of HNF's prey (HP and CB) leads to an increase in their abundance.
This study illustrates how the release of surface-active DOC during intensive M. leidyi's blooms can stimulate the microbial loop. The current system with the ICCC prevailing in September enables the spreading of M. leidyi from its hypothetic origin in an open sea gyre towards the coast. Bora wind episodes may initiate and favour this type of circulation. In these conditions, M. leidyi agglomerates in large numbers along the coast, enabling the accumulation of organic matter and altering the abundance of pico- and nanoplankton.

•Mnemiopsis leidyi contributes to particulate, dissolved and surface-active carbon.•Dense swarms of M. leidyi are associated with the increase in pico and nanoplankton.•The presence of M. leidyi in the northeastern Adriatic Sea is related to the occurrence od anticyclonic gyres.
Long interspersed nuclear element-1s (LINE-1s, or L1s) are an active family of retrotransposable elements that continue to mutate mammalian genomes. Despite the large contribution of L1 to mammalian ...genome evolution, we do not know where active L1 particles (particles in the process of retrotransposition) are located in the cell, or how they move towards the nucleus, the site of L1 reverse transcription. Using a yeast model of LINE retrotransposition, we identified ESCRT (endosomal sorting complex required for transport) as a critical complex for LINE retrotransposition, and verified that this interaction is conserved for human L1. ESCRT interacts with L1 via a late domain motif, and this interaction facilitates L1 replication. Loss of the L1/ESCRT interaction does not impair RNP formation or enzymatic activity, but leads to loss of retrotransposition and reduced L1 endonuclease activity in the nucleus. This study highlights the importance of the ESCRT complex in the L1 life cycle and suggests an unusual mode for L1 RNP trafficking.
