Prispevek povzema primerjavo kulturnih interesov in možnosti slovenske manjšine v BiH in ene največjih etničnih manjšin v Sloveniji, namreč Bošnjakov. Avtorica kombinira kvalitativno obravnavo in interpretacijo rezultatov terenske raziskave s statistično primerjavo nekaterih demografskih vidikov in stopnje samoorganiziranosti obeh izbranih manjšin.
Immigration of Slovenians to other areas of the former Yugoslavia and their organization of ethnic societies there is a subject of research that became interesting for researchers in the field of ...international migration studies only after the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia. Compared to the research into Slovenian immigration to other countries and continents, this subject had been neglected for decades. The book ('Slovenian Immigration and Society Activities across the Former Yugoslavia: Historical Outline and the Present') is divided into three chronological parts: Historical Outline, Between the Past and the Present, and The Current Situation. In this book, the data and findings of previous research are revised, upgraded and completed by the results of the authors' own archival and statistical research as well as extensive fieldwork (questionnaire, half-structured interviews, meetings/roundtables, informal interviews, observation with participation), carried out in the framework of two research projects.
The article discusses some key questions regarding the study of migrant literature in the context of migration research. In the introduction, the author outlines the history of the use of migrant ...literary production as a source in Slovenian and international migration studies. Particular attention is paid to various polemics concerning the use of the term emigrant/immigrant literature and to major differences between disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches to migrant literature. In the following sections, the article discusses some methodological challenges in this field, the achievements of Slovenian literary history in the framework of migration studies, the disproportion between the academic research into Slovenian emigrant literature compared to the literature of immigrants to Slovenia, and the question of the status of emigrant/immigrant literary production written in foreign languages. The first part of the book discusses the position of Slovenian émigré literature and its place in the framework of Slovenian national literature and culture. In the second part, the most significant ...immigrant writers in Slovenia are presented, and their position in the cultural context of Slovenia is analyzed. The third part comprises a broader examination of the immigrants’ position in Slovenia, their (cultural, socio-economic, political) integration, and the level of their equality regarding the status of their cultural-artistic activities and their affirmation in broader Slovenian society. The last part of the book opens a number of comparisons between the positions of Slovenian emigrants and the immigrants in Slovenia. The comparative analysis focuses on the factors influencing cultural life of the immigrant community as such. This is followed by a chapter on literary bilingualism among emigrant/immigrant writers. The concluding chapters continue to problematize the concept of a single “national language” as the demarcation line between national literatures. A theoretical concept of a “concentric paradigm of national literature” is introduced. The authors of the included foreword and review are Matjaž Hanžek and Aleš Debeljak.
The article is a result of empirical research among Slovenian cultural societies in other republics of the former Yugoslavia. The central part of the article presents the results of a survey carried ...out in the spring of 2012 by members of the Slovenian Migration Institute at ZRC SAZU in the context of the research project entitled "Slovenian Labour Migration to the Countries of Former Yugoslavia: from Settlers to Transmigrants". General introductory data about the past and current presence of Slovenians in the discussed territories are followed by a summary of the findings based on a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the survey results as well as the findings of the informative-strategic roundtables co-organised by the Institute at the time of the survey.
