The ferromagnetic Weyl semimetals with inversion symmetry usually possess odd pairs of Weyl fermions. Here, we present an inversion eigenvalue argument to dictate the existence of even pairs of ...ferromagnetic Weyl fermions. We show, by a combination of first-principles calculations and symmetry analyses, that this exotic topological feature can be verified in ferromagnetic oxides in different space groups. In particular, a realistic candidate, i.e., hollandite RbCr_{4}O_{8} with a high Curie temperature (∼295 K), hosts intriguing twin pairs of Weyl fermions, which are robustly stable against perturbations. Moreover, our effective model and symmetry analysis show that the twin pairs of Weyl fermions originate from a mirrored nodal ring pair. The nontrivial surface states and Fermi arcs of RbCr_{4}O_{8} are clearly visible, further revealing the topological features. This work strengthens the understanding of the parity analysis in exploring ferromagnetic topological materials with unconventional fermionic excitations.
The development and application of second generation high temperature superconducting (2G-HTS) tapes have attracted much attention in China recently. Progress in upscaling high performance 2G-HTS ...tape production at Shanghai Superconductor Technology (SST) is reported in this paper. With ion beam assisted deposition, biaxially textured buffer layers with a configuration of CeO2/LaMnO3/MgO/Y2O3/Al2O3/C-276 have successfully been fabricated. In-plane and out-of-plane texture degrees of CeO2 films achieve 2°-4° and 2°, respectively. A multi-plume multi-turn pulsed laser deposition (PLD) system combined with the so-called 'radiation assisted conductive heater' has been proposed and further developed for REBCO layer deposition. Our effort was focused on minimizing the temperature variations in the deposition region by modifying the heating shield that assists the conductive heater of the drum-like cylinder. A tape travelling speed of 100-180 m h−1 can be achieved with a steady temperature profile when passing through the deposition zone, which is very beneficial for the growth of the REBCO layer. Taking advantage of the liquid phase growth mode, several compositions of superconducting films with a thickness in the range of 1-2.5 m have been grown with high growth rates of over 40 nm s−1. Furthermore, the microstructures and superconducting performance were investigated in detail. Based on these studies, superconducting tapes with piece lengths of up to 500 meters have been developed. High Ic values at 77 K, self-field (over 520 A cm−1 width) or at low temperature, high magnetic field conditions (over 560 A/4 mm width at 4.2 K, 10 T, perpendicular field) have been achieved. Lamination and jointing techniques have also been developed by SST for power and magnet applications.
The Tibetan Plateau is the highest and one of the most demanding environments ever inhabited by humans. We investigated the timing and mechanisms of its initial colonization at the Nwya Devu site, ...located nearly 4600 meters above sea level. This site, dating from 40,000 to 30,000 years ago, is the highest Paleolithic archaeological site yet identified globally. Nwya Devu has yielded an abundant blade tool assemblage, indicating hitherto-unknown capacities for the survival of modern humans who camped in this environment. This site deepens the history of the peopling of the "roof of the world" and the antiquity of human high-altitude occupations more generally.
We study the e^{+}e^{-}→γωJ/ψ process using 11.6 fb^{-1} e^{+}e^{-} annihilation data taken at center-of-mass energies from sqrts=4.008 GeV to 4.600 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII ...storage ring. The X(3872) resonance is observed for the first time in the ωJ/ψ system with a significance of more than 5σ. The relative decay ratio of X(3872)→ωJ/ψ and π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ is measured to be R=1.6_{-0.3}^{+0.4}±0.2, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic (the same hereafter). The sqrts-dependent cross section of e^{+}e^{-}→γX(3872) is also measured and investigated, and it can be described by a single Breit-Wigner resonance, referred to as the Y(4200), with a mass of 4200.6_{-13.3}^{+7.9}±3.0 MeV/c^{2} and a width of 115_{-26}^{+38}±12 MeV. In addition, to describe the ωJ/ψ mass distribution above 3.9 GeV/c^{2}, we need at least one additional Breit-Wigner resonance, labeled as X(3915), in the fit. The mass and width of the X(3915) are determined. The resonant parameters of the X(3915) agree with those of the Y(3940) in B→KωJ/ψ and of the X(3915) in γγ→ωJ/ψ observed by the Belle and BABAR experiments within errors.
Particles directly produced at electron–positron colliders, such as the J/ψ meson, decay with relatively high probability into a baryon–antibaryon pair1. For spin-1/2 baryons, the pair can have the ...same or opposite helicites. A non-vanishing phase ΔΦ between the transition amplitudes to these helicity states results in a transverse polarization of the baryons2–4. From the joint angular distribution of the decay products of the baryons, this phase as well as the parameters characterizing the baryon and the antibaryon decays can be determined. Here, we report the measurement of ΔΦ = 42.4 ± 0.6 ± 0.5° using Λ → pπ− and Λ¯→p¯π+,n¯π0 decays at BESIII. We find a value for the Λ → pπ− decay parameter of α− = 0.750 ± 0.009 ± 0.004, 17 ± 3% higher than the current world average, which has been used as input for all Λ polarization measurements since 19785,6. For Λ¯→p¯π+ we find α+ = −0.758 ± 0.010 ± 0.007, giving ACP = (α− + α+)/(α− − α+) = −0.006 ± 0.012 ± 0.007, a precise direct test of charge–parity symmetry (CP) violation in Λ decays.The decay asymmetry and helicity phase of polarized baryon–antibaryon pairs are measured at the BESIII experiment, testing charge–parity symmetry and revealing a discrepancy of the Λ → pπ− decay asymmetry with respect to the current world average.
The cross section for the process e^{+}e^{-}→π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ is measured precisely at center-of-mass energies from 3.77 to 4.60 GeV using 9 fb^{-1} of data collected with the BESIII detector operating ...at the BEPCII storage ring. Two resonant structures are observed in a fit to the cross section. The first resonance has a mass of (4222.0±3.1±1.4) MeV/c^{2} and a width of (44.1±4.3±2.0) MeV, while the second one has a mass of (4320.0±10.4±7.0) MeV/c^{2} and a width of (101.4_{-19.7}^{+25.3}±10.2) MeV, where the first errors are statistical and second ones are systematic. The first resonance agrees with the Y(4260) resonance reported by previous experiments. The precision of its resonant parameters is improved significantly. The second resonance is observed in e^{+}e^{-}→π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ for the first time. The statistical significance of this resonance is estimated to be larger than 7.6σ. The mass and width of the second resonance agree with the Y(4360) resonance reported by the BABAR and Belle experiments within errors. Finally, the Y(4008) resonance previously observed by the Belle experiment is not confirmed in the description of the BESIII data.

We present a detailed survey of the important topics in tau-charm physics and hadron physics that can be further explored at BESIII during the remaining operation period of BEPCII. This survey will help in the optimization of the data-taking plan over the coming years, and provides physics motivation for the possible upgrade of BEPCII to higher luminosity.
Abstract
As a novel X-ray focusing technology, lobster-eye micropore optics (MPO) feature both a wide observing field of view and true imaging capability, promising sky monitoring with significantly ...improved sensitivity and spatial resolution in soft X-rays. Since first proposed by Angel, the optics have been extensively studied, developed and trialed over the past decades. In this Letter, we report on the first-light results from a flight experiment of the Lobster Eye Imager for Astronomy, a pathfinder of the wide-field X-ray telescope of the Einstein Probe mission. The piggyback imager, launched in 2022 July, has a mostly unvignetted field of view of 18.°6 × 18.°6. Its spatial resolution is in the range of 4′–7′ in FWHM and the focal spot effective area is 2–3 cm
2
, both showing only mild fluctuations across the field of view. We present images of the Galactic center region, Sco X-1, and the diffuse Cygnus Loop nebular taken in snapshot observations over 0.5–4 keV. These are truly wide-field X-ray images of celestial bodies observed, for the first time, by a focusing imaging telescope. Initial analyses of the in-flight data show excellent agreement between the observed images and the on-ground calibration and simulations. The instrument and its characterization are briefly described, as well as the flight experiment. The results provide a solid basis for the development of the present and proposed wide-field X-ray missions using lobster-eye MPO.
Human parechoviruses (HPeVs) are widespread pathogens causing a wide spectrum of diseases. HPeVs belong to the family Picornaviridae, and 14 genotypes are known. We conducted a case–control study to ...investigate the role of HPeV in acute gastroenteritis. HPeV was detected and quantified using real-time RT-PCR, and then genotyped by sequencing of the nested RT-PCR product of the VP3/VP1 partial gene. HPeV was found in both the case and control groups (29.4% and 15.3% respectively, p 0.006). Six HPeV genotypes (HPeV1, HPeV3, HPeV4, HPeV5, HPeV6, and HPeV8) were detected. Nine positive samples could not be sequenced with negative genotyped RT-PCR. HPeV1 and HPeV3 were the most prevalent genotypes, and co-infection was common in the case group. No statistically significant differences in either viral load or the rate of HPeV1 and HPeV3 infection were found between the two groups. Additionally, no significant differences were found in fever rates, vomiting rates or mean duration and frequency of diarrhoea and vomiting between the positive and negative case groups with HPeV1 or HPeV3. Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that there was no association between the HPeV1 or HPeV3 infection and acute gastroenteritis. Multiple genotypes of HPeVs were highly prevalent in Chinese children. One potential new HPeV genotype was identified, but needs to be confirmed further by the picoma study group. However, the present study does not support a causative role of HPeV1 and HPeV3 in acute gastroenteritis.
Realizing stable two-dimensional (2D) Dirac points against spin-orbit coupling (SOC) has attracted much attention because it provides a platform to study the unique transport properties. In previous ...work, Young and Kane Phys. Rev. Lett. 115, 126803 (2015) proposed stable 2D Dirac points with SOC, in which the Berry curvature and edge states vanish due to the coexistence of inversion and time-reversal symmetries. Herein, using the tight-binding model and k·p effective Hamiltonian, we present that 2D Dirac points can survive in the presence of SOC without inversion symmetry. Such 2D Dirac semimetals possess nonzero Berry curvature near the crossing nodes, and two edge states are terminated at one pair of Dirac points. In addition, according to symmetry arguments and high-throughput first-principles calculations, we identify a family of ideal 2D Dirac semimetals, which has nonzero Berry curvature in the vicinity of Dirac points and visible edge states, thus facilitating the experimental observations. Our work shows that 2D Dirac points can emerge without inversion symmetry, which not only enriches the classification of 2D topological semimetals but also provides a promising avenue to observe exotic transport phenomena beyond graphene, e.g., nonlinear Hall effect.
