Purpose
This study was conducted using a descriptive design to examine the correlation between spousal support and postpartum depression (PPD) in fathers.
Design and Methods
The participants of the ...study were the fathers of infants born in the obstetrics and gynecology clinic of a state hospital affiliated with the Ministry of Health in a province in Turkey.
Findings
It was determined that while the possibility of paternal PPD was lower in the early postpartum period (p < 0.001), it increased in the late postpartum period (p < 0.001). A negative statistically significant correlation was identified between the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) scores and the Spouse Support Scale (SSS) scores of the participants in the early postpartum period (p = 0.031). There was a highly negative significant correlation between late postpartum EPDS scores and the early (p < 0.001) and late period (p < 0.001) SSS scores. A highly negative significant correlation was observed between the mean score of the early spousal support period and the mean score of the late spousal support period (p < 0.001). In this study, spousal support decreased PPD in fathers.
Practice Implications
This study indicated the necessity of routinely screening men for PPD symptoms. Early diagnosis and spousal support would contribute to reducing early and late paternal PPD, thus protecting the family's integrity.
This study was conducted to determine prenatal distress levels of pregnant women from seven provinces of Turkey and factors affecting prenatal distress levels. The multicentre descriptive study ...included 2365 pregnant women who were in the twentieth gestational week and above. The data were collected using the pregnancy information form, prenatal distress questionnaire and spousal support scale. Descriptive statistics, Student's t-test, ANOVA and logistic regression were used to evaluate the data. The results of this study demonstrated that pregnant women's prenatal distress levels are affected by such factors as the region lived in, lack of spousal support and being a primary school graduate. Nurses should develop intervention strategies that involve the pregnant woman's spouse to reduce prenatal distress and the factors affecting prenatal distress.

What is already known on this subject? Prenatal distress can have significant effects on pregnancy, maternal health and human development across the lifespan.
What the results of this study add? Spousal support could also have an effect on the psychological health of mothers.
What the implications are of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? Nurses and midwives monitor the pregnant women, and therefore, they should evaluate the prenatal distress levels in the prenatal period, plan intervention strategies for pregnant women with high stress levels and include the pregnant women's spouses in these intervention strategies.
Introduction. The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), which emerged in Wuhan, China, in late 2019, has affected the whole world. Pregnant women who are expected to give birth during this period are ...one of the most important groups affected by these processes.
The aim of this study was to identify the relationship between the fear of childbirth and anxiety among pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Materials and Methods. The cross-sectional study was conducted on 181 pregnant women in a city in the eastern region of Turkey between July and November 2020.
Results. Mid-level fear of childbirth was experienced by 44.8% of pregnant women. A positive correlation was found between the average anxiety score of pregnant women and childbirth fear.
Conclusions. The findings of the study will guide healthcare professionals in finding applicable solutions to the problems experienced by pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
Providing care to someone with a chronic disease requires being physically, emotionally, and mentally energetic. In particular, the presence of a patient with a disease that requires palliative care ...changes daily activities and routines, increases responsibilities of those who take the responsibility for patient’s care and changes the roles in the family.
The objective of this study was to determine the care burden and social support levels among the caregivers providing care for patients hospitalized in palliative care clinics.
Materials and Methods: The population of this descriptive and correlational study consisted of caregivers taking care of patients treated at the Palliative Care Clinic of Training and Research Hospital between May and October 2018; the sample consisted of 73 caregivers who volunteered to join the study and were open to communication. Data were collected by questioning patients and their caregivers about their sociodemographic characteristics, using the Caregiver Burden Scale and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Data analysis included percentages, the Kruskal-Wallis test, the Mann-Whitney U test, and the Spearman’s Correlation Coefficient.
Results: The average caregivers’ age was 45.44±13.76 years; 75.3% of caregivers were females, 30.1% of caregivers were literate or had primary school degrees. Caregiver’s gender and educational levels were found not to affect caregiving and social support levels; however, the economic status affected caregiving and social support levels. There was a reverse correlation between the caregiver burden and their social support levels.
Conclusions: With increased caregiver burden, their social support level decreased. Nurses caring for patients in palliative care clinics will benefit from educating and supporting caregivers about clinic and home care; it will result in a positive level of social support for both caregivers and patients receiving care.
Background: Self-confidence, which is an important emotional need in women, affects women's quality of life. This research was conducted to evaluate the self-confidence of women with chronic ...diseases. Methods: This study was conducted at the internal medicine clinic of Erzincan Mengücek Gazi Training and Research Hospital in Turkey between August 2019 and June 2020. The sample consisted of 339 female patients with chronic diseases who agreed to participate in this study. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews using information form and the Women’s Self-Confidence Scale. Results: The mean total score of the participants was 136.40 ± 24.92. Scores on the self-confidence scale significantly differed in accordance with the women’s age, body mass index, educational status, type of family, place of residence, number of children, self-care, history of smoking, allocation of time-to-herself, activity, perceived health status, presence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other chronic diseases, and information received about the disease (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Women with chronic diseases had a moderate level of self-esteem. Self-confidence is a person’s belief that they will perform a particular activity successfully and feel valued. People with high self-confidence are likely to be compatible with themselves through accumulating positive thoughts and feelings about themselves. Therefore, increasing the self-confidence of women with chronic diseases is important.

gebelik döneminde göz ardı edilebilecek olan distres sorununu belirlemek ...amacıyla
tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır.Materyal ve Metot: Çalışma Erzincan’da
araştırma hastanesinin doğum ve kadın hastalıkları polikliniğine başvuran 12 gebelik
haftası ve üzerinde olan 600 gebe
tarafından yürütülmüştür.Çalışma verileri yüz yüze görüşülerek ‘Gebe Bilgi
Formu’ ve ‘Tilburg Gebelikte Distres Ölçeği’ (Tilburg Pregnancy DistressScale
-TPDS) kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde sayı,
yüzdelik, ortalama, Kruskall Wallis Varyans analizi, tek yönlü varyans analizi
(ANOVA), bağımsız gruplarda t testi, Pearson korelasyon analizi ve Mann-Whitney
U testi kullanılmıştır.Bulgular:Araştırmaya
katılan gebelerin yaş ortalaması 27.42±5.36 olup %34.3’ünün 17-24 yaş grubunda
olduğu saptanmıştır. Gebelerin %33’nün (n=198) distres yaşadığı tespit
edilmiştir.Gebelerin yaş grubu, eğitim
düzeyi, çalışma durumu, eş eğitim düzeyi, gebelik sayısı, düşük/küretaj sayısı,
canlı doğum sayısı, aile için planlanan çocuk sayısı, önceki doğumlarında ve
doğum sonu dönemde yaşanan sağlık problemi, ile TGDÖ puan ortalamaları arasında
istatistiksel olarak anlamlılık saptanmıştır (p<0.001, p<0.01,
p<0.05).Sonuç:
Gebelerde distresin önemli düzeyde olduğu ve çeşitli faktörlerden etkilendiği
saptanmıştır. Gebelik döneminde kadınların sadece fizyolojik yönden değil
psikolojik yönden de değerlendirilmesi hem anne hem de fetüs/bebek sağlığının korunmasında

study was carried out by 600 pregnant women
who were admitted to the obstetrics and gynecology outpatient clinic of the research
hospital in Erzincan. Data of the study was obtained face to face by using the-Pregnancy
Information Form and ’Tilburg Pregnancy Distress
Scale‘(TPDS). In the evaluation of the data, number, percentage, mean, Kruskall
Wallis Variance analysis, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), independent groups
t test, Pearson correlation analysis and Mann-Whitney U test were used.Results:
The
meanage of the pregnant women was 27.42 ± 5.36 and 34.3% was in the 17-24 age group.
It was determined that 33% of the pregnant (n = 198) experienced distress. It was
determined that the pregnant women in terms of age group, education level,
working status, level of education, number of pregnancies, abortion / curettage
number, number of live births, number of children planned forthe family, health
problem sex perienced in previous birth sand postpartum period are significant statistically (p<0.001,
p<0.01, p<0.05).Conclusion:
It was found that the distress was significant
in pregnant women and affected by various factors. The evaluation of women not
only from a physiological point of view but also from a psychological point of
view during pregnancy will ensure the protection of both mother and fetus /

Cíl: Tento výzkum byl proveden jako popisná studie určující kvalitu života a pohlavní funkce žen s močovou inkontinencí (MI) v Turecku. Metodika: Studie byla provedena u 92 žen, které byly přijaty ...kvůli stížnostem na močovou inkontinenci na urologické ambulanci státní nemocnice. Data byla shromážděna výzkumným pracovníkem pomocí Úvodního informačního formuláře, Wagnerovy škály skóre kvality života (QOL) a indexu sexuální funkce žen (FSFI). Analýza dat byla provedena procentuálně, pomocí průměru, Kruskal-Wallisova testu a MW-U testu. Výsledky: Průměrné skóre žen na Wagnerově QOL stupnici bylo 41,69 ± 22,97 a celkový průměr indexu ženské sexuální funkce byl 50,26 ± 11,37. V této studii o ženách byly zjištěny významné statistické rozdíly mezi hodnotou Wagnerova průměru QOL a věkem, úrovní vzdělání a místem pobytu (p < 0,05). Průměrné skóre žen na stupnici FSFI bylo 50,26 ± 11,37. Závěr: Výsledky studie prokazují, že močová inkontinence negativně ovlivňuje kvalitu života a sexuální funkci žen.
