PurposeAnalysts expect reduced bank earnings as a result of the impact of the increase in bad loans. Banks have strategically created high provision coverage ratios allocating large funds for ...possible deterioration in asset quality. Given the expected faster growth and recovery in the bank lending sector, investors have always been interested in banking stocks, despite the waves of non-performing assets (NPAs) and recessionary influences. Historical references reiterate that the banking stocks have been better performers in their returns compared to the capital markets.Design/methodology/approachThe study aims to examine the impact of key accounting variables on the stock prices of Indian banks in the panel data framework.FindingsThe current study explores the impact of accounting variables on the market prices of shares. After the study, it may be concluded that earning per share (EPS), return on equity (ROE), capital adequacy ratio (CAR) and net interest margin (NIM) have an incremental impact on the prices of banking stocks, and the current ratio (CR) and NPAs have a detrimental impact on them.Practical implicationsStudying their impact on stock prices is the most convenient fundamental analysis that could be conducted on the stock prices of the banks.Originality/valueTo provide insights into the association of the accounting and regulatory variables there is a severe limitation in the quantity of the literature available. This study has attempted to build a relationship between the accounting and regulatory variables and the stock prices of banking stocks, to help investors with some reliable methods to estimate the stock prices in the future.
Orbital defects represent difficulties in head and neck reconstruction owing to 3-dimensional complexity of the socket with aim to restore form and function. Recommended methods of reconstruction ...include mucosal and skin grafts free microvascular myofascial or fasciocutaneous flaps. However, most frequently, reconstruction of orbital defects calls for measures somewhere in between. The temporoparietal fascia flap (TPFF) fits well as it provides thin, pliable coverage of defects with dependable blood supply, tolerance for a large degree of rotation and minimal donor site morbidity. We hereby present our experience and results of 10 cases using TPPF and temporalis muscle post orbital exentration defects.Ten patients (7 male and 3 females) age ranging from 25 to 64 years underwent reconstruction of orbital exenteration defects using TPPF and temporalis muscle from June 2019 to June 2020 in our department. The primary disease was squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of orbital structures (anterior compartment) in all 10 patients. All cases were clinically N0 and M0.All patients had successful transfer of TPFF grafts and temporalis muscle transfer without flap compromise. TPPF was used in all 10 patients while Temporalis muscle flap was used to fill orbital socket in our 9 patients. Temporoparietal fascial flap showed viable option for subtle orbital and malar contour defect. All patients had intact dura with residual orbital cavity after resection reconstructed with TPPF and temporalis muscle without any additional flap usage. No frontal paralysis or orbital fistula was seen but local recurrence occurred in one patient in follow up and managed with RT. The TPFF is one of the most reliable and versatile regional flaps in the head and neck for orbital reconstruction.
Plastic waste poses a serious threat to the environment and it has been increasing at an alarming rate. In 2022, global plastic waste generation was reported to be around 380 million tonnes as ...compared to 353 million tonnes in 2019. Production of liquid fuel from plastic waste is regarded as a viable method for disposing of the plastic and utilizing its energy. Currently, a wide range of technologies have been explored for turning plastic waste into fuel, including the conventional pyrolysis, incineration, gasification and advanced oxidation. However, a systematic summary and comparative analysis of various technologies has still not reported. Traditional non-biodegradable plastic waste (NPW) treatment methods include landfilling and incineration, but these methods encounter bottlenecks and are unable to adequately address NPW issues. This review attempts to present a thorough summary of treatment methods for plastic waste (both conventional and novel treatment technologies that have recently been reported), examine their mechanism and their current state of development. Furthermore, the superiority and drawbacks of each technology are analysed and the prospects of technology application are proposed. By tackling the problems of white pollution and energy scarcity, this review intends to inspire the use of solid waste as a source of energy.

Five different Fe–Cu/SiO2 catalysts were prepared by a combination of co-precipitation and wet impregnation technique at different K-loading ranging from 0 to 5wt.% for the conversion of syngas to liquid fuel. The physiochemical characterization of these catalysts was performed by using N2 adsorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD), H2-TPR, NH3-TPD, TEM, Inductive Couple Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS), and SEM–EDX to study the effect of potassium on the textural properties, structural change, reduction behavior, acidity and morphological change to the above K-loading catalysts. The effect of addition of potassium promoter was studied for CO-Hydrogenation in a fixed bed reactor simultaneously with the effect of promoter on the CO-conversion, selectivity and deactivation. The maximum catalytic activity was obtained from 1% K-loading and the catalytic activity decreased thereafter. The activity for water–gas shift (WGS) also enhanced with increasing K loading. The results revealed that increasing K loading decreases gaseous hydrocarbon formation and shifts selectivity to higher molecular weight hydrocarbons. Incorporation of potassium suppresses the hydrogenation activity of the Fe–Cu/SiO2 catalyst, leading to higher olefin yield in the products.
Numerous methods are available to profile several epigenetic marks, providing data with different genome coverage and resolution. Large epigenomic datasets are then generated, and often combined with ...other high-throughput data, including RNA-seq, ChIP-seq for transcription factors (TFs) binding and DNase-seq experiments. Despite the numerous computational tools covering specific steps in the analysis of large-scale epigenomics data, comprehensive software solutions for their integrative analysis are still missing. Multiple tools must be identified and combined to jointly analyze histone marks, TFs binding and other -omics data together with DNA methylation data, complicating the analysis of these data and their integration with publicly available datasets.
To overcome the burden of integrating various data types with multiple tools, we developed two companion R/Bioconductor packages. The former, methylPipe, is tailored to the analysis of high- or low-resolution DNA methylomes in several species, accommodating (hydroxy-)methyl-cytosines in both CpG and non-CpG sequence context. The analysis of multiple whole-genome bisulfite sequencing experiments is supported, while maintaining the ability of integrating targeted genomic data. The latter, compEpiTools, seamlessly incorporates the results obtained with methylPipe and supports their integration with other epigenomics data. It provides a number of methods to score these data in regions of interest, leading to the identification of enhancers, lncRNAs, and RNAPII stalling/elongation dynamics. Moreover, it allows a fast and comprehensive annotation of the resulting genomic regions, and the association of the corresponding genes with non-redundant GeneOntology terms. Finally, the package includes a flexible method based on heatmaps for the integration of various data types, combining annotation tracks with continuous or categorical data tracks.
methylPipe and compEpiTools provide a comprehensive Bioconductor-compliant solution for the integrative analysis of heterogeneous epigenomics data. These packages are instrumental in providing biologists with minimal R skills a complete toolkit facilitating the analysis of their own data, or in accelerating the analyses performed by more experienced bioinformaticians.

The utility of pedicled latissimus dorsi kiss flap for the reconstruction of chest wall defect is still an underutilized option. But the peculiar design and structure of the kiss flap with two ...semicircular flaps of equal diameter with same vascular trunk makes it amenable to cover large chest wall defects especially at places where plastic surgery facility is unavailable. We have used this flap to reconstruct large chest wall defect of size 20×18 cm in our patient operated for recurrent chest wall dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. In the follow-up, both recipient kiss latissimus dorsi flap and donor site flap healed well without edema or extravasation.
Abstract
With the increasing population and per capita demand for freshwater, the burden of natural resources has increased many folds. Indian agriculture is still largely dependent on conventional ...methods of crop production that are mainly inefficient. Water security is essential for social and economic development, having an indispensable role in enhancing health, well-being, and economic progress, particularly in a developing country like India. Water footprint (WF) is an important indicator that helps ascertain the direct and indirect use of water in any process. WF modeling in agriculture enables us to pinpoint the impacts and limitations of the current crop production system. Assessing vulnerabilities across various regions and time helps us prepare actions to improve water productivity and promote sustainable water use. There is considerable spatial variability in blue, green, and gray WF among the different states of India due to their varied climate, soil, and topographic characteristics. WF assessment is critical for developing water allocation strategies, planning water trade, making policies, and implementing remedial measures. This paper describes the significance of WF and its proper management for sustainable crop production in India.
Th17 cells are key drivers of autoimmune disease. However, the signaling pathways regulating Th17 polarization are poorly understood. Hedgehog signaling regulates cell fate decisions during ...embryogenesis and adult tissue patterning. Here we find that cell-autonomous Hedgehog signaling, independent of exogenous ligands, selectively drives the polarization of Th17 cells but not other T helper cell subsets. We show that endogenous Hedgehog ligand, Ihh, signals to activate both canonical and non-canonical Hedgehog pathways through Gli3 and AMPK. We demonstrate that Hedgehog pathway inhibition with either the clinically-approved small molecule inhibitor vismodegib or genetic ablation of Ihh in CD4
T cells greatly diminishes disease severity in two mouse models of intestinal inflammation. We confirm that Hedgehog pathway expression is upregulated in tissue from human ulcerative colitis patients and correlates with Th17 marker expression. This work implicates Hedgehog signaling in Th17 polarization and intestinal immunopathology and indicates the potential therapeutic use of Hedgehog inhibitors in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.
Abstract
The present study aimed to assess the groundwater quality in the hard rock aquifer system of the Nand Samand catchment for irrigation use by employing distinct water quality indices (sodium ...adsorption ratio, per cent sodium, electrical conductivity, residual sodium carbonate, soluble sodium per cent, Kelly's ratio, and permeability index) and also, using graphical illustration techniques (United States Salinity Laboratory (USSL) diagram, Piper, Gibbs, Wilcox, and Chadha diagram, Rajasthan, India. Groundwater samples were collected in two seasons, i.e., pre-monsoon and post-monsoon seasons (for the years 2019 and 2020). Ninety-five samples were collected and analyzed to assess overall groundwater quality for irrigation use. The USSL diagram indicated that the maximum groundwater samples were classified under categories C3S1 and C4S1 during the pre-monsoon season, indicating groundwater suitable for irrigation. The major facies observed in groundwater are mixed Ca–Mg–Cl, CaHCO3, and Ca–Mg–Cl type. Gibbs's diagram depicts that the maximum groundwater samples belonged to the evaporation–crystallization zone, which raises salinity by raising sodium and chloride concerning the increase of total dissolved solids. The results showed that the majority of the samples are suitable for irrigation, and the suitability improves during the post-monsoon season.
