Pešter peat is in the Pešter field, that there the height of about 1,100 m (a.s.l.). It extends over 200 ha, between the villages Bračak and Karajukića prison, mostly on the move Sevari, and belongs ...to the municipalities of Sjenica and Tutin. The aforementioned peat conducted a total of 237 wells to determine the total depth of peat and powerful layers of mineralized and non-mineralized peat. Based on the results obtained and respecting a valid environmental principles, examined territory moorland we divided into 5 exploitation fields (A, B, C, D and E). Field A and B have the overall average powerful peat below 150 cm, the field C above 230 cm, the field D over 270 cm, while the field E 390 cm. All researches conducted by the applicable national regulations and the whole peat, and all wells were recorded geodesic in X, Y and Z axis.

Pešter peat belongs to the type of acid peats. Its pH value in n KCl is between 4.6 and 4.9. As such, it cannot be directly applied in the production of the compost for agaricus mushrooms, because ...these mushrooms require the alkaline pH value, i.e. pH value in n KCl greater than 7.3. To satisfy this condition, the peat was calcified, and the experiment was established in the mushroom growing plant, owned by Milan Božić, at Leštane. Peat calcification was performed with fine-ground CaCO3, chalk, hydrated lime, and zeolite in various ratios. The experiment was established in ten variants. The best results were obtained by the variants in which calcification was performed with 4% hydrated lime, and by variant with 2% hydrated lime + 2% chalk + 2% zeolite.
Study the influence the conditions of production and the mass of mother tubers on yield of potato variety Desiree were carried out in the condition of western Serbia (Macva). The investigation were ...coducted by planting tuber weight: 50 +/- 5g, 70 +/- 5g, 90 +/- 5g and 110 +/- 5g during 2007 and 2008. The results show that the conditions of production had very significant impact on total yield and yield of potato marketable tubers. The mass of mother tuber significantly affected on total yield, while affect on yield of marketable tubers was not established. In both years of investigation the largest tuber yield was obtained by planting the biggest tuber weight (110g). Higher total yield tubers in the conditions of semiarid climate in western Serbia (Macva) are achieved by planting larger mass of mother tubers.

This study, and similar studies performed on other vegetable test crops, is aimed at the production of high quality substrate for vegetable production. The base for the preparation of these ...substrates is Pešter peat, which is, by rank of its physical-chemical qualities, classified in the highest quality group in the world. In addition to peat, for the experimental production of substrates, altogether forty-five, we applied sheep manure, CaCO3, zeolite, and a complex mineral fertilizer 15:15:15, in various combinations and quantities. To be able to determine whether the degree of peat mineralisation affects the quality of pepper seedling production, we produced the substrates in which the peat component is composed only of mineralised peat, semi-mineralised and non-mineralised. Based on the test results, it was conducted that the substrate quality was not affected by the ratio of the mineral and organic peat in it, but the quantity of the added sheep manure and mineral fertilizer. The effect of added quantities of ground limestone and zeolite did not affect the habit of pepper seedlings, which does not mean that the higher quantities of these materials would not have a positive effect. We shall test it in our future experiment.
