A novel conducting sulphur-polypyrrole composite material was prepared by the chemical polymerization method with sodium
p-toluenesulphonate as the dopant, 4-styrenesulphonic sodium salts as the ...surfactant, and FeCl
3 as the oxidant. The new material was characterized by Raman spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and scanning electron microscopy. Nanosize polypyrrole particles were uniformly coated onto the surface of the sulphur powder, which significantly improved the electrical conductivity, the capacity and the cycle durability in a lithium cell compared with the bare sulphur electrode.
The newly presented structure of integrated monitoring includes geological and geotechnical conditions of mineral mining, peculiarities of the production and infrastructure objects, as well as ...specifications and manuals of measurement tools. The monitoring-embraced hazardous objects are listed and grouped. Each group of the hazardous objects is described with the common features, properties, criteria and other characteristics meant for the monitoring supervision toward efficient and faultless operation. A prototype monitoring system for instability of mine objects is implemented using mining and geological information system MINEFRAME, and the data base on the objects of monitoring is composed.
A 64-year-old White woman was admitted to the hospital with complaint of progressive right hip ulceration at the wound site following a total right hip arthroplasty. Initial history and physical ...examination gave a leading differential diagnosis of pyoderma gangrenosum. Until recently, the exclusion of infection for pyoderma gangrenosum has been largely clinical and supported by cultures/biopsies demonstrating the absence of infection. The MolecuLight i:X (MolecuLight, Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a novel bedside fluorescent imaging device capable of determining the bacterial burden within a wound in real time. Fluorescent imaging excluded infection at the initial visit, and debridement was avoided. Subsequently, pathergy was avoided as well. The patient was started on topical clobetasol with hypochlorous acid-soaked dressings. She also received 80 mg daily of prednisone and high-dose vitamin D3 (10,000 IU). Recovery was complicated by a deep tunnel along the incisional line at 3 months postdiagnosis, which required slowing of the prednisone taper and the addition of colchicine. Repeat cultures grew Parvimonas, Pseudomonas, and Streptococcus species. Appropriate antibiotics were given. The patient was transitioned from prednisone to adalimumab and started on negative-pressure wound therapy. Negative-pressure wound therapy was discontinued at 5 months, and the wound resolved at 6 months.
We present order-of-magnitude conductivity data for 'carbon-included' lithium iron phosphate (LFP) powders lightly pelletised as used as cathodes in Li-ion batteries. The powders were synthesised by ...a spray pyrolysis method, with a short ameliorating sinter to optimise phase purity. Carbon was introduced into the materials by adding stoichiometric amounts of sucrose into the starting ingredients. We obtained X-ray diffraction patterns and electrical conductivity estimates for carbon contents of between 0 and 31 wt.%. The resultant conductivities spanned almost seven orders of magnitude.
Xenoliths in kimberlites are the most promising material for studying the composition and structure of the lower levels of the continental crust. This study is aimed at the estimation of
P–T
...parameters and fluid regime of metamorphism for garnet–biotite–feldspar and orthopyroxene–garnet–biotite–feldspar rocks found as xenoliths in kimberlites of the Yubileynaya and Sytykanskaya pipes, Yakutian kimberlite province. The seven studied samples show inverse dependences of relative contents of garnet and orthopyroxene, orthopyroxene and biotite, garnet and plagioclase, plagioclase and potassium feldspar. This indicates a consistent series of transformations of the assemblage garnet + plagioclase + orthopyroxene ± quartz to the assemblage garnet + biotite + potassium feldspar. In this process, the replacement of plagioclase by potassium feldspar was the leading reaction. Evidence of this reaction is specific reaction textures in the rocks, negative correlations between the contents of the minerals, and petrochemical characteristics of the rocks. Modeling of the mineral assemblages of the xenoliths using the pseudosection approach (PERPLE_X) revealed two groups of rocks corresponding to different depth levels of the Siberian cratonic crust. For rocks without orthopyroxene or with this mineral as single relics, the pressure was estimated at 9.5–10 kbar, and it is 6–7 kbar for orthopyroxene-bearing samples. The xenolith rocks have close metamorphic peak temperatures of 750–800°C. They experienced 200–250°C cooling and 3–4 kbar decompression, regardless of the level of the crust at which they had initially occurred. This indicates that the metamorphic evolution of the rocks during their exhumation was probably associated with collisional processes during the amalgamation of individual terrains of the Siberian craton. Xenoliths enriched in K-feldspar might have been products of metamorphic reactions with participation of aqueous–(carbonic)–salt fluids, which were sourced from basaltic magmas in the lower crust. The most strongly metasomatized rocks were located closest to the place of accumulation of crystallizing magmas.
Single-phase, chemically pure vanadium pentoxide (V
2O
5) powders are prepared by co-precipitation and further calcination at 300
°C. The materials obtained are agglomerated in sub-micron particles, ...and BET analysis shows that the as-prepared V
2O
5 powders have a high specific surface-area of 41
m
2
g
−1. V
2O
5 shows the highest capacitance in 2
M KCl electrolyte when compared with other electrolytes such as 2
M NaCl and 2
M LiCl. It yields a maximum specific capacitance of 262
F
g
−1. The higher specific surface-area may be the reason for the high capacitance compared with previously published results.
