Community-acquired pneumonia is a polietiologic disease and a significant cause of death worldwide. One of the pathogens of pneumonia is Mycoplasma pneumoniae, which in school-age children occupies ...the first place in the etiological structure, including the formation of foci of group morbidity. In most cases, mycoplasma infection has a smooth course, but possibly a protracted course with the development of progressive changes in the lungs. The aim of the work is to describe our own observation of the development of pneumofibrotic changes in a child who has undergone mycoplasma pneumonia. The article presents a description of a case of mycoplasma bronchopneumonia in a teenager, with prolonged persistence of febrile fever, catarrhal syndrome, the development of a rash in the structure of mycoplasma infection, a pronounced bilateral inflammatory process in the lungs followed by the formation of post-inflammatory changes in the form of pulmonary fibrosis, which were confirmed only by computed tomography and dynamic monitoring of the patient. Conclusion. The above example showed the need for long-term follow-up of patients with prolonged mycoplasma pneumonia by pulmonologists and the development of targeted rehabilitation.
We searched for the μ+μ− decay of a light vector gauge boson, also known as dark photon, in the e+e−→μ+μ−γISR process by means of the Initial State Radiation (ISR) method. We used 1.93 fb−1 of data ...collected by the KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE ϕ-factory. No structures have been observed over the irreducible μ+μ− background. A 90% CL limit on the ratio ε2=α′/α between the dark coupling constant and the fine structure constant of 3×10−6–2×10−7 has been set in the dark photon mass region between 519 MeV and 973 MeV. This new limit has been combined with the published result obtained investigating the hypothesis of the dark photon decaying into hadrons in e+e−→π+π−γISR events. The combined 90% CL limit increases the sensitivity especially in the ρ–ω interference region and excludes ε2 greater than (13−2)×10−7. For dark photon masses greater than 600 MeV the combined limit is lower than 8 ×10−7 resulting more stringent than present constraints from other experiments.
Self-organized disk-shaped quantum dots of CdSe embedded in diluted magnetic ZnMnSe barrier were studied by means of pump-probe time-resolved Kerr rotation (TRKR) technique at low temperature T = 7 ...K. In absence of the external magnetic field TRKR signal exhibits long-living spin dynamics with the decay time exceeding the period between laser pulses. Such spin dynamics is not typical for diluted magnetic semiconductors and nano-structures based on them and could be a trace of a bound magnetic polaron. Resonant spin amplification measured in transversal magnetic field up to 1 T shows the only one peak near B = 0. In B = 1 T the long-living non-precessing signal practically vanishes, while the precessing one appears with the Larmor frequency corresponding to the Mn2+ ions' net spin precession around the magnetic field. It was found that the signal consists of three components with slightly different precession frequencies that could be due to the fine structure of the manganese spin sublevels occurring because of a stress in quantum dots.
Based on a sample of 300 million KS mesons produced in ϕ→KLKS decays recorded by the KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE e+e− collider we have measured the branching fraction for the decay KS→πμν. The KS ...mesons are identified by the interaction of KL mesons in the detector. The KS→πμν decays are selected by a boosted decision tree built with kinematic variables and by a time-of-flight measurement. Signal efficiencies are evaluated with data control samples of KL→πμν decays. A fit to the reconstructed muon mass distribution finds 7223±180 signal events. Normalising to the KS→π+π− decay events the result for the branching fraction is B(KS→πμν)=(4.56±0.11stat±0.17syst)×10−4. It is the first measurement of this decay mode and the result allows an independent determination of |Vus| and a test of the lepton-flavour universality.
In tunnel-coupled quantum wells (QWs) CdTe (20 nm wide) and CdMnTe (8 nm wide) separated by Cd0.88Mg0.12Te barrier with a thickness of LB = 5, 7, 9, and 11 monolayers (MLs), the dependence of ...electron g-factor on the barrier thickness and temperature is investi-gated by means of the pump-probe Kerr rotation technique. The renormalization of the electron g-factor occurs due to the s-d exchange interaction of electrons with manganese ions in a magnetic QW. The most change of the electron g-factor value Δg = 0.25 is registered at the least barrier width of 5 MLs and temperature T = 5 K. In this case, the penetration of the electron wave function from the nonmagnetic QW into the magnetic one is estimated to be 0.6%.
Based on the literature sources, modern ideas about Kawasaki syndrome, its diagnostic criteria and the possible trigger role of M. pneumoniae are given. The author describes his own observation of ...Kawasaki syndrome, probably associated with mycoplasma infection, in a boy of 4 years and 8 months. A special feature of the case was also the presence of a combined mycoplasma-enterovirus infection, which explained the wave-like course of the disease, as well as the delayed development of the respiratory syndrome.
Since 2010 the CMD-3 detector has been collecting data at the e+e− collider VEPP-2000 in the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics. One of the main goals of experiments with CMD-3 detector is the ...precise measurement of the cross sections of the e+e− annihilation into hadrons. For a large number of processes the main source of systematic uncertainty in cross sections determination due to accuracy of polar angles determination of the tracks. Z-chamber is used for the reconstruction of the track longitudinal coordinate which is with low systematic uncertainty. The measurement of longitudinal coordinates is performed by the collecting of the charge which is induced on the strip cathodes of the Z-chamber. The algorithms of the reconstruction of cathodes clusters and calibration procedure are presented.
