Examining the data on Pavle Horvat published on the basis of scientific and profes-sional papers as well as newspaper articles shows two basic views of his work. The first in-volves the beginnings of ...his public and political activity, and concerns a young man who wished to actively participate in the then current political events in Slovenia but, for various reasons, most of all probably his approach, failed. The second view is much more intense and focuses on moments from Horvat’s life that do not show him in a positive light, but as a “bad guy” who created a false public image of himself. Based on the gathered data, it is difficult to complete both images and it is certainly necessary to conduct more research in order to answer all questions. The data gleaned from the daily press is partial, as is the data from the documents.
The second image, which can be seen from the gathered data, serves as the basis for forming the literary character of Pavle Horvat in the novel Fara sv. Ivana (The Parish of St John) by Miško Kranjec. In it, Horvat’s character is showed in a negative light, as a person who primarily fights for his personal interests under the guise of caring for Slovenians in Cro-atia. Such a literary formation may be based on documents and newspaper articles that were available to author Miško Kranjec, but could also be based on Kranjec’s subjective opinion, since it is obvious he knew Horvat personally and therefore immortalised him in his novel. Even though the character of Pavle Horvat is today almost unknown in Slovenian and Croa-tian historiography, it is precisely the literary formation of his character that prompts us to think about the less-known Slovenian-Croatian political relations in the interwar period and especially during World War II.

U povijesti djelovanja današnjeg Gradskoga kazališta lutaka Rijeka važan je trag ostavilo gostovanje poljskih lutkara u Opatiji (u neposrednoj blizini Rijeke) i riječkih u Poljskoj i Slovačkoj tijekom 60-ih godina 20. stoljeća.
The picture book marks the development of children's literature throughout history in its various forms and as one of the fundamental books of children's literature, which in the modern world has ...many types and forms. The picture book is also a crucial factor influencing early literacy. It is essential for developing the environment of the educational institution of early and preschool education where the child resides, as well as the family environment. The picture book is the first reading material intended for children. It is relevant in all stages of their early and preschool development, encouraging them to learn and nurturing their love for reading. The paper aims to show the importance of picture books in children's literature and how children participate in the creation of picture books, including the role of their imagination in the process, which later results in their additional motivation to interact with the written word and picture. The paper shows the process of co-creating a picture book made by the educational group of the Kindergarten "Grobnički tići" in Mošćenička Draga near Rijeka. The picture book "Winter" was designed to bring children closer to the experience of snow and the accompanying winter joys, which are rare in that region. Encouraged by the story, the children expressed their creativity by making drawings and playing with materials reminiscent of winter and winter weather.
Literacy is one of the basic skills that represent an important cultural aspect. It is necessary to acquireinformation about different areas of human activity and is essential for education and the ...acquisition of new content. The development of early literacy is significantly influenced by three factors: adult encouragement, adult readingrole models, and exposure to appropriate reading materials. As a result, the role and importance of reading andtalking with the child are cited as important activities that adults engage in with children in the early literacy field, and numerous campaigns targeting reading aloud and reading with children speak to this. Parents are increasinglyreceiving training in early literacy, while early childhood educators, who are trained to promote children's readingskills during their training, are increasingly using numerous early literacy activities in their work. The number ofeducators who use picture books in their groups as a stimulus to promote early literacy is growing, using picturebooks not only as a means but also as a goal in developing creativity and pre-reading skills. This paper presents real-world examples of approaches to promoting early literacy in Croatian educationalinstitutions, based on research conducted as part of the project "Picture Gallery in Kindergarten and PrimarySchool", sponsored by the Faculty of Teacher Education University of Rijeka and the partner Faculty forEducational Sciences of Jurja Dobrila University in Pula. The project investigated the use of picture books as astimulus for a creative approach to the development of early reading skills. 363 teachers from all over the Republicof Croatia participated in the research. The research was conducted online in the form of a questionnaire. The paperhighlights and analyzes the results in relation to the use of picture books as a stimulus for a creative approach toearly literacy development. It also gives examples of good practice selected in the implementation of theinstitutional project "Let us read fun - a creative approach to reading in early and preschool age", conducted at theFaculty of Educational Sciences of Jurja Dobrila University in Pula. The main goals for which educators use picture books in pedagogical work with children are familiarization withbooks, development of a reading culture, love for books and reading, development of reading preparation skills, active listening and communication. The benefits that educators see in using picture books are also mentioned.Challenges cited by educators include the fact that a lot of effort and work must be put into creating a reading ritualand getting an individual child interested in reading and listening to stories, or the unwillingness of some parents touse picture books at home in the family setting. Some of the educators mentioned creating their own picture bookwith the children as a challenge. Therefore, the paper includes examples of best practices related to the creation ofpicture books in different early childhood and preschool education settings, as well as presentations of long-termproject activities that involve both parents and the local community in the creative process. It also presents theprocess of creating a picture book as an activity that can be done in a shorter period of time just within aneducational group or as a short activity in one day.
Oratorio choir of St. Mark was founded in 1920 and it is still active today. Many of conductors of this choir were quite famous at their time. From the August 1926 until August 1927, and then later, ...from 1930 until 1937 the choir conductor was Mladen Pozajic. In this period the choir preformed tunes of some the old masters, as well as melodies of the contemporary composers, which varied in style, and some of them were premieres written just for this choir. Contemporary critics followed the work of the choir, and among them one can easily notice some that wrote about certain notable performances, as for example the performance of Liszt's Christus. Therefore, author analyzes work and activities of this oratorio choir during the conducting of Mladen Pozajic, as it was seen by the contemporary critics.
