Introduction. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines burnout syndrome as a condition caused by chronic stress at work, which may be associated with the onset and worsening of psychosomatic ...illnesses and the quality of life of sufferers. The aim of the work was to determine the prevalence of burnout syndrome in the population of people with leading, chronic, massive, non-communicable diseases, type 2 diabetes and arterial hypertension, while assessing the impact of this syndrome on the quality of life of the subjects.
Methods. The research was conducted as a cross-sectional study from March 2019 until October 2019 on a randomized sample of 92 patients with type 2 diabetes and 99 patients with hypertension from two Health Centres in East Sarajevo. A special criterion for inclusion in the research was that the respondents were employed and that their age did not exceed 65 years. The research instrument was a general questionnaire, the WHO questionnaire on burnout syndrome, as well as the WHO SF-36 questionnaire on the quality of life, and statistical data processing was done in the SPSS program version 19.0. The significance of the difference was tested by the χ2 test, and the existence of burnout syndrome was defined according to the WHO questionnaire.
Results. In subjects with diabetes, burnout syndrome was present in 52.8% (mildly expressed in 15.2% of the subjects, candidate for burnout syndrome in 19.6% of the subjects, burnout syndrome was present in 17.4%, while in one subject burnout syndrome that endangers health was found) and in subjects with hypertension, burnout syndrome was found in 32% of the subjects. Burnout syndrome was more present in subjects with diabetes than in subjects with hypertension. The difference was statistically significant (χ2 = 8.42; p = 0.003). Subjects with diabetes were significantly more depressed and discouraged than subjects in the group with hypertension (χ2 = 16.14; p < 0.01). The subjects with diabetes had significantly more difficulty in performing their job than those with hypertension during the past four weeks (χ2 = 13.098; p = 0.011).
Conclusion. There is a significant frequency of burnout syndrome in patients with diabetes, but also in patients with hypertension. The existence of cause-and-effect relationships significantly affects the quality of life of patients and their ability to work.
Background/Aim. Some professions are somewhat more exposed to stress and have been the subject of research for a long time, and research of occupational stress among employees at workplaces with a ...special health risk is of a special significance. That is the case with miners. The aim of the study was an assessment of the relation between the sociodemographic variables and interpersonal sources of stress at work among miners. Methods. The study was designed as a cross-sectional study and covered 170 respondents, classified into two groups: a study group comprised of miners (n = 142) and a control group (n = 28) comprised of administrative workers. The research was conducted at the Occupational Medicine Service of the Health Center Zvecan and at the Institute of Occupational Medicine in Nis. The questionnaire on the basic sociodemographic indicators of respondents, the Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Related Stressors Questionnaire (IRS), the Work Ability Index Questionnaire (WAI), the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ), the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) and the Questionnaire on the stressors were used in this research. Results. Statistically, the miners consumed alcohol significantly more than the respondents from the control group (68.30% vs. 25.00%; p < 0.001). Relative to age, there was a statistically significant difference in the subscales: demands (p = 0.037), control (p = 0.010), relations (p = 0.009) and change (p = 0.008). The control score values increased with age. The relations values were highest among the oldest respondents. The values of change decreased with age. Relative to exposed years of service (ERS), there was a statistically significant difference in the subscale relations; the miners with ERS longer than 15 years had a statistically significantly higher relations score (p = 0.003). The values of subscales control (p < 0.001), manager support (p = 0.010), relations (p < 0.001) and work role (p < 0.001) were statistically significantly lower among the miners compared to the control group. The values of subscales peer support (p = 0.002) and change (p < 0.001) were statistically significantly higher among the miners compared to the control group. Conclusion. The results indicate the correlation of sociodemographic variables with interpersonal sources of stress at work among the miners. The following prevention measures are proposed: adequate professional orientation, professional selection, professional adaptation, organizational measures, progressive development of knowledge and skills, development of good interpersonal relationships, strengthening the family-organization-company relation, relaxation techniques at the workplace, stress control, application of physiological techniques, application of cognitive techniques.

Background:
Burnout is a special a state of physical or emotional exhaustion that also involves a sense of reduced accomplishment and loss of personal identity.
Objectives:
To evaluate the predictors ...of burnout among work staff in the seven private agencies for support and defense of persons and their property.
Material and Method:
We performed a multicentric cross-sectional study that involved representative sample of working staff from Agencies of Private Security in Central Serbia. Burnout was assessed using Maslach Burnout Inventory- (MBI)-Human Services Survey.
Results:
A total number of participants were 353 (330 men and 23 women). Measured level of burnout as assessed by high emotional exhaustion, high depersonalization, and low personal accomplishment was 66.3, 82.4, and 13.4%, respectively. We identified that female gender, younger age, shorter work experience, working in shifts, working 12 h a day and more than 8–12 h a day as well as dissatisfaction with working conditions. Work in shifts, working 12 h a day and more than 8–12 h a day and dissatisfied with dissatisfaction with working conditions significantly increase the risk of total burnout.
Conclusion:
Our results showed that significant predictors for the development of burnout syndrome were female gender, younger age, shorter work experience, working in shifts, as well as dissatisfaction with working conditions.
Introduction/Objective. Estimating the prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCD), multimorbidities, and their association with self-rated health as well as satisfaction with healthcare. Methods. ...This cross-sectional study was conducted among ethnic Serb communities at Kosovo and Metohija during 2015?2016. Data of socio-demographic and lifestyle characteristics, self-rated health status and satisfaction with healthcare was obtained through a survey which included 1067 adults, 535 of whom reported presence of NCD. Multinomial regression was performed to analysis factors associated with self-rated health and self-rated satisfaction with the healthcare. Results. Presence of one NCD was reported by 50.1% respondents, whereas 23.1% of the respondents reported multimorbidity. While self-reported NCD presence was negatively associated with self-rated health (p = 0.001?0.016), no association between NCDs and satisfaction with healthcare was observed (p = 0.178?0.974). Being single (p = 0.011?0.017), lower educational level (p = 0.031?0.047), regular breakfast (p = 0.032), frequent vegetable intake (p = 0.009?0.029), no alcohol use (p = 0.010), shorter waiting time (p = 0.001?0.004) and sufficient finance for dental care (p = 0.021) were factors statistically significantly correlated with greater satisfaction with the healthcare. Conclusion. Presence of NCD was negatively associated with self-rated health status, while shorter waiting time and adequate finances were associated with higher level of satisfaction with the healthcare. The results of our study could be of the importance for policy makers in creating the more effective healthcare service in unstable political and security situations.

INTRODUCTION: Internet addiction is a topic that is widely debated in scientific circles and the media. Students spend a lot of time in content-related activities online, neglecting common activities ...such as socializing, business obligations, learning, home affairs, etc., and have difficulty interrupting internet activities, even when they themselves recognize it is time for it. AIM: The aim of this research was to investigate Internet addiction among students of the Medical Care, Faculty of Medicine in Foča. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The research was conducted at the Medical Faculty in Foča in the period from 07.11. until 09.11.2016. year with health care students. The selected study design is a cross section study. The study covered 60 students, the first, second and third year of studies that were present on the days of the study and volunteered to participate in the research. RESULTS: The survey involved 60 respondents, of whom 21 are men (35%) and 39 women (65%), ages 18 to 24 years old. All of our respondents are Internet users. The largest percentage of respondents (66.7%) use the internet for 2 to 4 hours. The largest number of respondents first accessed the Internet at the age of 13 (21.7%). Most respondents use Facebook as a social network 56 (93.3%), while the least number of Twitter users. CONCLUSION: All of our respondents are Internet users, and the largest percentage of respondents (66.7%) use the internet for 2 to 4 hours. This study aimed to assess the prevalence and the severity of oral impacts and the relationships between oral health‐related quality of life (OHRQoL) and clinical measures of oral function in a ...sample of older adults in Bosnia. The sample comprised 261 community‐dwelling adults of ≥65 yr of age. Participants were randomly drawn from three senior day‐centres for elderly people. Data were collected using clinical examination and a questionnaire. The OHRQoL was assessed through the Oral Impacts on Daily Performances (OIDP) measure, in terms of the prevalence, intensity, and extent of oral impacts. Overall, 55.2% reported at least one oral impact in the last 6 months. Difficulty eating (43.3%) and difficulty speaking (34.1%) were the most common impacts. These were also the most severely affected performances, while ‘going out’ and ‘enjoying the contact of other people’ were the least severe. A higher number of natural teeth, natural occluding pairs, and anterior and posterior occluding pairs were all significantly associated with a lower prevalence of oral impacts and correlated with the OIDP score, even after adjusting for sociodemographic factors. The prevalence of oral impacts was high and there was a strong and consistent association between OHRQoL and clinical dental indicators of function.
INTRODUCTION Chronic non-contagious diseases: heart and blood vessel diseases, malignant tumors, diabetes, obstructive pulmonary disease, injuries and poisoning, mental health disorders and others, ...have dominated the world and our national pathology for decades. Arterial hypertension is one of the most common diseases of the present, which affects in more than 60% of people over the age of 60, and represents a risk factor for infarction, insult, chronic heart failure, renal insufficiency, progressive atherosclerosis and dementia, indicating the importance of hypertension frequency testing in the geriatric population in our country and in the world. OBJECTIVE is to point out the specificity, the high frequency and the risk of hypertension in the geriatric population in our country and in the world. METHODS We analyzed the data and literature in the field of geriatrics, internal medicine, neurology, public health, social medicine and health statistics in the part dealing with the protection of the health of the elderly in our country and in the world. The research was conducted through the analysis of previous scientific research obtained from the literature and the search of electronic databases in accordance with the areas defined in the aim of the work. Using the analytical observational method, all necessary data on this topic were collected, recorded and analyzed. A systematic review of the literature in the researched area was carried out, with the aim of reviewing the methodological characteristics of published studies in the mentioned area. Relevant papers based on this search were collected in full text. Data were extracted from such works, analyzed and presented in this paper. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Cardiovascular disease is the primary cause of elderly mortality, and it is believed that by removing it in people over the age of 65, the life expectancy would be prolonged for 16 years. The results of some studies show that a third of patients over the age of 65 have isolated systolic hypertension, which is a significant risk factor for apoplexy. In developed countries, the geriatric population is on the rise and reaches more than 30% of the general population, and cardiovascular disease is one of the most common diseases and causes of mortality in this population. Studies have shown that the incidence of myocardial infarction and cerebrovascular events is doubled in patients over 65 years of life with hypertension. Only two groups of diseases, heart and blood vessels diseases and malignant tumors, account for over half of all causes of death. In the Republic of Serbia, in 2021 the population aged 65 and over accounted for 21.28% of the population, while the percentage representation of very old people, over 85 years of age, is constantly increasing. Observed since 2002, more than 100,000 people die annually in Serbia from all causes of death, and almost every second resident of Serbia dies from diseases of the heart and blood vessels. The burden of diseases of the circulatory system or diseases of the heart and blood vessels is on the rise globally, and in recent years in Serbia, on average, 55% of people who have died are victims of one of the diseases from this group. The most common diagnosis within the group of diseases of the cardiovascular system is essential arterial hypertension. The most common causes of death in 2021 belong to the following groups of diseases (according to ICD-10 - International Classification of Diseases of the World Health Organization): Diseases of the circulatory system 41.4%; Tumors 15.1%; Diseases of the respiratory system 5.3%; Diseases of glands with internal secretion, nutrition and metabolism 2.6%. Diseases of the heart, blood vessels and malignant tumors accounted for over half (55.7%) of all causes of death in 2021 in Serbia. As many as 41.4% of all deaths were the result of dying from diseases of the circulatory system, and every sixth person who died (15.1%) was a victim of a malignant tumor. Studies have shown that in patients over 65 years of age with hypertension, the frequency of myocardial infarction and cerebrovascular events is twice as high. CONCLUSION Hypertension is very common in elderly and is a growing problem for them, their family and entire community, as it significantly affects the quality of their lives. The number of elderly in general population is increasing and a growing number of them is with hypertension. Successful prevention can significantly affect the reduction in the incidence of this disease in the population of elderly, which would certainly be one of the priority tasks in improving their health and quality of life.
The measures to control the COVID-19 pandemic in the academic 2020/2021 included full-time online courses for medical students in Serbia for the first time since the faculty was founded in 1920. The ...purpose of this study was to examine the attitudes and opinions about the full-time online course among medical students and their teachers. A qualitative study was carried out in the autumn of 2021. In-depth interviews were conducted with 38 participants (27 students in the 4th study year and 11 teachers who teach in the 3rd study year) about their experiences in the past academic year. To select study participants, purposive sampling was employed. The interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Qualitative content analysis was applied. Five topics emerged: 1) Theoretical online learning, 2) Practical online learning, 3) Motivation, 4) Technical aspects of online learning and 5) Evaluation of knowledge. Overall, students’ attitudes toward theoretical classes were mostly negative, but the attitudes of teachers were mostly positive. However, the attitudes of both students and teachers toward practical online classes were mostly negative. Students were, in general, less motivated to follow online classes compared to conventional courses, even though the teachers felt that they had to put more effort into making a suitable online course. Most participants considered that the online classes had a negative impact on their knowledge and practical skills, but their academic achievement was not inferior compared to previous years. The full-time online course should include conventional on-site teaching. The relevance of acquiring practical skills is strongly emphasized.

Burnout syndrome develops as a consequence of chronic stress among employees. The study objective was to examine what socio-descriptive characteristics of employees might be associated with the ...appearance of the occupational burnout and to evaluate the relationship between job burnout and the quality of life among security employees of the professional private security sector in Central Serbia.
A multicenter cross-sectional questionnaire-based study was performed. A multivariate logistic regression analysis and ANOVA post choc test was applied.
A total of 353 respondents (330 male and 23 female) participated in the study. Female sex and older age were associated with a higher risk of total burnout and the development of emotional exhaustion while male sex, higher education, and managerial position were associated with higher personal achievement and lower risk of total burnout. Male sex, marital union, two or more children, and direct contact with clients were significantly associated with a lower quality of life of employees. A significant negative correlation was found between total burnout and the Physical Health Composite Score (PHC) score with a correlation coefficient (
) of -0.265 (95%CI from -0.361 to -0.163); between total burnout and the and Mental Health Composite Score (MHC) score with a
of -0.391 (95%CI from -0.480 to -0.301); and between total burnout and TQL score with a
of -0.351 (95%CI from -0.445 to -0.258).
Female sex and older age were associated with a higher risk of total burnout and the development of EE while a managerial position and higher education were protective factors in relation to the development of burnout. Male sex, marital union, two or more children, and direct contact with clients were significantly associated with a lower quality of life of the employees. Shift work significantly reduced the total quality of life, while managerial positions increased the quality of life.
Previous research focused on the conventional approaches to test psychometric characteristics of the Night Eating Questionnaire (NEQ). The purpose of this research was to examine the psychometric ...properties of the Night Eating Questionnaire using the Rasch model in a sample of university students. The study was carried out from November 2018 to March 2019 on 300 students in health sciences at the University of Pristina temporarily seated in Kosovska Mitrovica, who completed the NEQ. A confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) suggested that the Serbian version mirrored the original NEQ structure: Goodness of fit index = 0.978, Comparative fit index = 0.996, Tucker-Lewis index = 0.995, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation = 0.011 and Standardized Root Mean Square Residual = 0.057. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the total scale was 0.627. The Rasch analysis showed that the item separation index classified the items into six groups based on their level of difficulty. The person reliability index separated well night eaters from day eaters. Few items did not fit the adequate range for the infit/outfit statistics. Overall, there were several groups of NEQ items that have a distinctive difficulty level, but the difference was not a remarkable one. This means that most students did not have night eating syndrome (NES), despite various levels of item difficulty. The NEQ performs well in the efforts to distinguish people who eat and do not eat at night. Most students reported conventional eating patterns and only a few had NES. The properties of the NEQ warrant its use in further night eating research.
•The Rasch analysis was used for the first time to test the (NEQ) in English.•The NEQ separates well day eaters and night eaters.•It is recommended to include more scales when testing eating behaviors.
