The SAFEHEART study was designed to analyze the situation of familial heterozygous hypercholesterolemia (FHH) and improve knowledge of this disease in Spain. SAFEHEART is a prospective, open, multicenter, nationwide cohort study, with long-term protocol-based follow-up in a population of individuals with molecularly-characterized FHH. We analyzed patients older than 18 years with complete follow-up.
We included 2648 patients with FHH. The median follow-up was 6.6 (4.8-9.7) years. The overall incidence rate of cardiovascular events was 1.3 events/100 patient-years. After the follow-up, the 10-year estimated risk of developing a cardiovascular event was reduced from 1.6% to 1.3% (P <.001). In the last follow-up, 20.6% and 22.2% of the patients in primary and secondary prevention achieved low-density lipoprotein cholesterol values <100mg/dL and <70mg/dL, respectively.
This study was performed in the largest population of patients with FHH in Spain. We identified the incidence rate of cardiovascular events, the estimated risk of developing a cardiovascular event and its modification, the achievement of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol targets, and the therapeutic management in this population. Although the cardiovascular risk of FHH is high, appropriate treatment reduces the likelihood of an event.

El estudio SAFEHEART se diseñó para analizar la situación y mejorar el conocimiento de la hipercolesterolemia familiar heterocigota (HFH) en España. Nuestro objetivo es determinar la tasa de incidencia de eventos cardiovasculares, el riesgo estimado de sufrir un evento y su modificación, el empleo de tratamiento hipolipemiante y la consecución de objetivos de colesterol unido a lipoproteínas de baja densidad en pacientes con HFH.
El SAFEHEART es un estudio prospectivo de cohorte, abierto, multicéntrico, de escala nacional, con seguimiento protocolizado a largo plazo en una población de HFH caracterizada molecularmente. Se analizó a los pacientes mayores de 18 años con seguimiento completo.
El análisis en este estudio se hizo con 2.648 pacientes con HFH. La mediana de seguimiento fue de 6,6 (4,8-9,7) años. La tasa de incidencia general de eventos cardiovasculares fue de 1,3 eventos/100 pacientes-año. El riesgo estimado de sufrir un evento cardiovascular a 10 años se redujo en el seguimiento, y pasó del 1,6 al 1,3% (p <0,001). En el último seguimiento, el 20,6 y el 22,2% de los pacientes en prevención primaria y secundaria consiguieron un colesterol unido a lipoproteínas de baja densidad <100 y <70mg/dl respectivamente.
En este estudio se muestra la tasa de incidencia de eventos cardiovasculares, el riesgo estimado de sufrir un evento cardiovascular en la mayor población de pacientes con HF en España, así como su modificación, la consecución de objetivos en colesterol unido a lipoproteínas de baja densidad y su tratamiento. Aunque el riesgo cardiovascular de la HFH es elevado, un adecuado tratamiento reduce la probabilidad de sufrir un evento.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the pathogenicity and virulence of 16 native isolates and three collection strains of three species of entomopathogenic fungi that may have the potential for ...affecting Asian citrus psyllid nymphs, Diaphorina citri Kuwayama (Hemiptera: Liviidae), by developing an effective methodology for their evaluation. Bioassays were conducted in a laboratory using shoots of Citrus aurantium L., infested with second to fifth instar D. citri nymphs placed in Petri dishes and sprayed with 1 × 108 conidia mL-1 suspensions of the entomopathogenic fungi Beauveria bassiana, Isaria fumosorosea, and Metarhizium brunneum. Infested insects were incubated in a growth chamber at 26 ± 2°C, 60 ± 5% relative humidity, and 16:8 lightdark hours. The results showed that /. fumosorosea Pfr-612 strain scored the highest mortality (84.2%), while the isolate HIB-14 of B. bassiana induced the development of mycosis more effectively on psyllid nymphs.

During 2006, laboratory studies were conducted to evaluate the pathogenicity of seven isolates of Pandora neoaphidis (Remaudière & Hennebert) against the cabbage aphid, Brevicoryne brassicae (L.). ...Two isolates were obtained from the aphids Rhopalosiphum padi (L.) (TEXRP1), and Myzus persicae (Sulzer) (TEXMP1), infesting broccoli (Brassica napus (L.)) in Texcoco, Mexico; the rest of the isolates were obtained from Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch) infesting sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench), in five localities in Tamaulipas, Mexico. The greatest percentages of mortality were caused by isolates RBF, TEXRP1, y RBB, at a rate of 87, 76, y 72%, respectively, 240 hours after the initiation of the treatments. These results show the potential of P. neoaphidis as an agent of biological control against B. brassicae, depending of the place and the origin of the isolate.
La efectividad del insecticida ometoato (Folimat® 1000) y de enemigos naturales nativos para controlar al psílido asiático de los cítricos, fue comparada en Río Bravo, Tamaulipas, durante 2010. Los ...resultados indicaron que ometoato fue más efectivo y no se observaron ninfas o adultos a las 264 h después de la aplicación; por otra parte, a las 72 h en el tratamiento de enemigos naturales, la población de ninfas fue reducida y similar al tratamiento con ometoato. En el testigo absoluto, la población de ninfas se incrementó a más 100% a las 264 h.

Las abejas son un grupo extremadamente diverso con más de 1000 especies descritas en la península ibérica. Además, son excelentes polinizadores y aportan numerosos servicios ecosistémicos ...fundamentales para la mayoría de ecosistemas terrestres. Debido a los diversos cambios ambientales inducidos por el ser humano, existen evidencias del declive de algunas de sus poblaciones para ciertas especies. Sin embargo, conocemos muy poco del estado de conservación de la mayoría de especies y de muchas de ellas ignoramos cuál es su distribución en la península ibérica. En este trabajo presentamos un esfuerzo colaborativo para crear una base de datos de ocurrencias de abejas que abarca la península ibérica e islas Baleares que permitirá resolver cuestiones como la distribución de las diferentes especies, preferencia de hábitat, fenología o tendencias históricas. En su versión actual, esta base de datos contiene un total de 87 684 registros de 923 especies recolectados entre 1830 y 2022, de los cuales un 87% presentan información georreferenciada. Para cada registro se incluye información relativa a la localidad de muestreo (89%), identificador y colector de la especie (64%), fecha de captura (54%) y planta donde se recolectó (20%). Creemos que esta base de datos es el punto de partida para conocer y conservar mejor la biodiversidad de abejas en la península ibérica e Islas Baleares. Background and objective: The last few years have seen the appearance many mobile applications aimed at improving health, but studies analyzing their effectiveness on cardiovascular risk factors ...(CVRFs) are few and far between. Our aim was to assess the effect on CVRFs such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes and global CVR, of adding the use of a smartphone app to an intervention consisting of standard counseling on physical activity and the Mediterranean diet.
Method: This is a multicenter, randomized and controlled clinical trial. From January 2014 and September 2016, a total of 833 subjects selected by random sampling from six health centers participated. Of these, 415 were assigned to the counseling + app group (IG) and 418 to the counseling only group (CG). The IG additionally received training in the use of a mobile application. The main outcome was the change in CVRFs and estimated CVR at 3 and 12 months in the IG compared to the CG.
Results: No significant changes were observed at 3 or 12 months in terms of CVR. Nevertheless, an effect between groups was observed in favor of the CG at 12 months in some CVRFS: SBP, DBP, total cholesterol and triglycerides: 2.02 mmHg (95%CI: 0.43–3.61), 1.21 mmHg (95%CI: 0.20–2.24), 5.24 mg/dl (95%CI: 1.22–9.26) and 7.24 mg/dl (95%CI: 0.53–14.32).
Conclusion: Adding an intervention with the use of an app for three months to standard counseling on diet and physical activity, does not provide additional benefits for improving CVRFs or the estimated CVR in the long term.
