The integration of renewable energy into power grid planning poses significant challenges. In this investigation, planning strategies across eight key indicators encompassing economic, reliability, ...environmental, and adaptability are assessed. Leveraging the analytical hierarchy process alongside the entropy weight method, subjective and objective weights are ascertained and comprehensive weights with parsimonious discriminative data are synthesized. Scores for planning strategies are then derived utilizing these weights. To illustrate and validate the efficacy of the proposed methodology, it was applied to four schemes within the IEEE‐6 node system, incorporating wind and photovoltaic power plants.
Abstract
In order to protect the offshore environment and strengthen the comprehensive rectification of sewage outfalls, an evaluation method of regional sewage outfalls by combining the marine ...numerical simulation and comprehensive evaluation technology was constructed, considering the marine environmental capacity and the ecological impact of sewage discharge from outfalls on the marine eco-environment sensitive areas. Then the layout rationality of each outfall was evaluated and the discharge scale was optimized with a case study of existing sewage outfalls in Xiamen. The results show that, the comprehensive evaluation score of Yundang outfall was 3 points in 2025, evaluated as the outfall with irrational layout. In 2035, the comprehensive evaluation scores of Fenglin and Dalipu outfalls were 3 and 2 points respectively, evaluated as the outfall with irrational discharge scale. It is suggested to control the scale of expansion or increase the reclaimed water reuse rate in Jimei and Gaoqi Wastewater Treatment Plants. This method has enriched the evaluation system for layout optimization of sewage outfalls, providing scientific supports for comprehensive improvement of sewage outfalls and marine environmental management.
Sepsis and sepsis-related diseases cause a high rate of mortality worldwide. The molecular and cellular mechanisms of sepsis are still unclear. We aim to identify key genes in sepsis and reveal ...potential disease mechanisms. Six sepsis-related blood transcriptome datasets were collected and analyzed by weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA). Functional annotation was performed in the gProfiler tool. DSigDB was used for drug signature enrichment analysis. The proportion of immune cells was estimated by the CIBERSORT tool. The relationships between modules, immune cells, and survival were identified by correlation analysis and survival analysis. A total of 37 stable co-expressed gene modules were identified. These modules were associated with the critical biology process in sepsis. Four modules can independently separate patients with long and short survival. Three modules can recurrently separate sepsis and normal patients with high accuracy. Some modules can separate bacterial pneumonia, influenza pneumonia, mixed bacterial and influenza A pneumonia, and non-infective systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). Drug signature analysis identified drugs associated with sepsis, such as testosterone, phytoestrogens, ibuprofen, urea, dichlorvos, potassium persulfate, and vitamin B
. Finally, a gene co-expression network database was constructed ( https://liqs.shinyapps.io/sepsis/ ). The recurrent modules in sepsis may facilitate disease diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.
High growth of the population and developed industries, on the one hand, increased the demanded energy considerably. Growth of the fossil fuel-based power generation, on the other hand, has high ...environmental effects. Accordingly, renewable energy sources are mainly interested in the recent years as clean resources. These sources also can be economical cases in long term. Nevertheless, their intermittent feature is a main drawback. Integration of these resources with the rest of the grid can increase their advantages and tackle their main drawbacks. In the present work, a novel programming method is proposed for energy management and optimization of operational expenses over a grid-connected microgrid (MG). The considered MG contains various renewable resources. Some uncertainties should be considered in the integration of renewable resources with the grid, which can affect the system performance. Main uncertain parameters are studied in this paper such as predicted values for green power sources, maximum capacity for fuel cells (FCs), energy storage sources (ESSs), maximum capacity for transmission line, and also hourly loads, achieving a higher efficiency. This paper utilized fuzzy idea for presentation of mentioned uncertain parameters in the MG. Moreover, this work employed a 3-stage optimization algorithm for obtaining the best programming for the MG by considering the uncertain parameters. This paper also used a practical test system to validate the proposed method through minimizing the total cost. Additionally, a sensitivity analysis is performed to study the effects of oscillations of all components in the MG and their associated uncertainties over the obtained results.
A unique avian-origin A/H7N9 influenza virus has so far caused 134 cases with 44 deaths. Probing the host factors contributing to disease severity, we found that lower levels of plasma inflammatory ...cytokines on hospital admission correlated with faster recovery in 18 patients with A/H7N9 influenza virus, whereas high concentrations of (in particular) IL-6, IL-8, and macrophage inflammatory protein-1β were predictive of a less favorable or fatal outcome. Analysis of bronchoalveolar lavage samples showed up to 1,000-fold greater cytokine/chemokine levels relative to plasma. Furthermore, patients with the rs12252-C/C IFN-induced transmembrane protein-3 (IFITM3) genotype had more rapid disease progression and were less likely to survive. Compared with patients with the rs12252-T/T or rs12252-T/C genotype of IFITM3, patients with the C/C genotype had a shorter time from disease onset to the time point when they sought medical aid (hospital admission or antiviral therapy) and a shorter interval to development of the acute respiratory distress syndrome stage (reflected by shorter intervals between clinical onset and methylprednisolone treatments and higher rates of mechanical ventilator use), as well as experiencing elevated/prolonged lung virus titers and cytokine production and higher mortality. The present analysis provides reported data on the H7N9 influenza-induced “cytokine storm” at the site of infection in humans and identifies the rs12252-C genotype that compromises IFITM3 function as a primary genetic correlate of severe H7N9 pneumonia. Together with rs12252 sequencing, early monitoring of plasma cytokines is thus of prognostic value for the treatment and management of severe influenza pneumonia.
Tea is a worldwide health beneficial beverage for its antioxidant ability. 1,1‐diphenyl‐2‐picryl‐hydrazyl (DPPH) assay is a common method to measure the antioxidant capacity of tea compounds, yet the ...contribution ratio of various characteristic tea compounds is still unclear. high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to examine the content of polyphenol compounds in 24 tea samples from four tea categories (green tea, white tea, oolong tea, and black tea). Based on the results of DPPH and HPLC, contribution ratio of each tea compound was analyzed by the Pearson correlation analysis and the partial least squares regression (PLSR). The Pearson correlation analysis showed that the order of correlation between the area of 13 peaks and the antioxidant ability of tea samples was x8 > x6 > x3 > x13 > x10 > x7 > x2 > x5 > x11 > x9 > x4 > x12 > x1; the regression equation fit by PLSR was Y = 47.258 − 0.760x1 + 0.287x2 − 1.484x3 − 0.569x4 + 0.674x5 + 2.257x6 + 1.698x7 + 1.389x8 − 0.188x9 + 0.467x10 + 0.297x11 + 1.314x12 + 0.963x13. We identified nine common peaks by reference standard substances: the x3 was gallic acid (GA), x4 was theobromine, x5 was catechuic acid (CA), x6 was epigallocatechin (EGC), x8 was epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), x9 was caffeine, x10 was epicatechin (EC), x12 was epicatechin gallate (ECG), and x13 was gallocatechin gallate (GCG). Based on the study of spectrum‐effect correlation, we obtain a better understanding of the antioxidant activity of complex tea polyphenols component.
Practical applications
Identify the contribution of specific chemical compound to antioxidant activity by the coefficients in PLSR equation and provide a deeper insight into the joint effect of multiple ingredients of tea. Further, we can infer the DPPH free radical scavenging ability of a new kind of tea by the PLSR equation without chemical detection.
Based on the results of 1,1‐diphenyl‐2‐picryl‐hydrazyl and high performance liquid chromatography, the contribution ratio of each tea compound to the antioxidant ability was analyzed by the Pearson correlation analysis and the partial least squares regression. We obtain a better understanding of the antioxidant activity of complex tea polyphenols component.
The water environment carrying status (WECS) is the embodiment of the ability of an aquatic ecosystem to maintain healthy and stable development; as such, it is an essential factor in the sustainable ...social and economic development of a region. To evaluate the water environment carrying status of a region, a new Pressure-State-Response-Support (PSRS) framework is proposed firstly. Secondly, a water carrying status index system containing 21 indicators is constructed based on this new model, and a water environment carrying status index (WECSI) is introduced to describe the water environment carrying status. Then, projection pursuit and entropy methods are used to calculate the water environment carrying status index of eight cities along the Yangtze River in Jiangsu province as examples. The results reveal that although the government has made substantial effort, the pressure subsystem is still dominated the changes of water environment carrying status, the eight cities still face significant pressure. The analysis indicated that government departments should commit to alleviating pressure and monitoring and supervising surface water quality while continuing to maintain a supporting force. The proposed framework and methodology is sound and effective for measuring the carrying status of regional water environment, and the methods can provide guidance for the Ecological Environment Department in ensuring the carrying capabilities of water environment and achieving sustainable development mission at regional level.
Data mining in real-time data streams is associated with multiple types of uncertainty, which often leads the respective categorizers to make erroneous predictions related to the presence or absence ...of complex events. But recognizing complex abnormal events, even those that occur in extremely rare cases, offers significant support to decision-making systems. Therefore, there is a need for robust recognition mechanisms that will be able to predict or recognize when an abnormal event occurs or will occur on a data stream. Considering this need, this paper presents an Intuitionistic Tumbling Windows event calculus (ITWec) methodology. It is an innovative data analysis system that combines for the first time in the literature a set of multiple systems for Complex Abnormal Event Recognition (CAER). In the proposed system, the probabilities of the existence of a high-level complex abnormal event for each period are initially calculated nonparametrically, based on the probabilities of the low-level events associated with it. Because cumulative results are sought in consecutive, nonoverlapping sections of the data stream, the method uses the clearly defined rules of initialization and termination of the tumbling windows method, where there is an explicit determination of the time interval within which several blocks of a particular stream are investigated window. Finally, the number of maximum probable intervals in which an event is likely to occur based on a certain probability threshold is calculated, based on a parametric representation of intuitively fuzzy sets.
Intratracheal administration of a novel IL-10 formulation suppressed IL-17-driven, CD4
T cell-dependent tumorigenesis in the LSL-K-ras
murine lung cancer model. Analysis of lung lymphocyte ...populations demonstrated that antitumor activity of IL-10 was associated with a 5-fold decline in Th17 cell prevalence and a concurrent suppression of inflammatory M1-like macrophage activity. Further phenotypic characterization revealed that macrophages and dendritic cells, but not Th17 cells, expressed IL-10RA on the cell surface with the CD11b
F4/80
CX3CR1
interstitial macrophages representing the dominant IL-10RA
subset. Consistent with these observations, in vitro stimulation of sorted CD4
T cells with IL-10 did not affect their ability to produce IL-17, whereas similar treatment of purified interstitial macrophages resulted in a dramatic M1 to M2 phenotypic switch. Importantly, preconditioning of macrophages (but not of CD4
T cells) with IL-10 led to potent suppression of CD4
T cell IL-17 production in an in vitro coculture assay, suggesting that IL-10 suppressed Th17 cell activity primarily via its upstream effects on macrophages. In support of this notion, in vivo macrophage depletion resulted in a 5-fold decline in Th17 cell numbers and a concurrent 6-fold reduction in tumor burden. Collectively, these data demonstrate that in the LSL-K-ras
murine lung cancer model, inflammatory macrophage-Th17 cell axis is critical to tumorigenesis and that IL-10 blocks this process primarily via a direct effect on the former. Inhaled IL-10 formulations may be of use in prophylaxis against lung cancer in high-risk patients.
As a modulator of the sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor, siponimod is administered as a therapeutic intervention for multiple sclerosis. A previous phase 3 study first reported siponimod-associated ...macular edema. Since that report, there were only few relevant reports in clinical settings. Here, we report a case of secondary progressive multiple sclerosis developed macular edema after siponimod treatment. We also review the progress of sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor modulators, elaborate on accepted mechanisms in treating multiple sclerosis, and discuss the causation of siponimod-associated macular edema.
A 38-year-old Chinese female patient with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, who had recurrent numbness of the limbs and right leg fatigue, developed mild macular edema following 4 months of siponimod treatment. The macular edema resolved after discontinuing the medication, and did not recur after resuming siponimod.
Although siponimod-associated macular edema may be rare, mild, transitory, and manageable, it cannot be ignored and requires ongoing vigilance.
