The problem under consideration is to determine the change of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) spectral shape due to the thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect. We numerically model the spectral ...intensity of the CMB radiation Comptonized by the hot intergalactic Maxwellian plasma. To this aim, a relativistic Monte Carlo code with photon weights is developed. The code enables us to construct the Comptonized CMB spectrum in a wide energy range. The results are compared with known analytical solutions and previous numerical simulations. We also calculate the angular distributions of the intensity of radiation emerging from the cloud, which show that the spectral shape of the tSZ effect is not universal for different directions of escaping photons. The numerical method can be applied to simulate the processes of Comptonization for different optical depths, temperatures, initial spectra of photon sources and their spatial distributions, the obtained results may have implications on investigating the profiles of galaxy clusters.
Aims. We address the task of modeling soft X-ray and optical light curves of X-ray novae in the high/soft state. Methods. The analytic model of viscous evolution of an externally truncated accretion ...α-disk is used. Relativistic effects near a Kerr black hole and self-irradiation of an accretion disk are taken into account. Results. The model is applied to the outbursts of X-ray nova Monocerotis 1975 (A 0620-00) and X-ray nova Muscae 1991 (GRS 1124-68). Comparison of observational data with the model yields constraints on the angular momentum (the Kerr parameter) of the black holes in A 0620-00 and GRS 1124-68: $0.3{-}0.6$ and ≤0.4, and on the viscosity parameter α of the disks: $0.7{-}0.95$ and $0.55{-}0.75$. We also conclude that the accretion disks should have an effective geometrical thickness $1.5{-}2$ times greater than the theoretical value of the distance between the photometric layers.

thiazol-2-yl)-6-methyl-5-phenylverdazyls were synthesized and characterized by EPR and IR spectroscopies, mass spectrometry, cyclic voltammetry, and X-ray diffraction. ...The effect of substituents on the spectral and electrochemical properties was studied. It was shown that substituents at position 3 of the verdazyl tetrazine ring, regardless of their nature, cause a significant shift of the oxidation and reduction potentials to the anodic region. The results obtained suggest that the synthesized compounds can be used as an electroactive components in rechargeable organic batteries.
Enteroviruses (EV) are important pathogens causing human disease with various clinical manifestations. To date, treatment of enteroviral infections is mainly supportive since no vaccination or ...antiviral drugs are approved for their prevention or treatment. Here, we describe the antiviral properties and mechanisms of action of leucoverdazyls-novel heterocyclic compounds with antioxidant potential. The lead compound,
, demonstrated low cytotoxicity along with high antioxidant and virus-inhibiting activity. A viral strain resistant to
was selected, and the development of resistance was shown to be accompanied by mutation of virus-specific non-structural protein 2C. This resistant virus had lower fitness when grown in cell culture. Taken together, our results demonstrate high antiviral potential of leucoverdazyls as novel inhibitors of enterovirus replication and support previous evidence of an important role of 2C proteins in EV replication.
We consider a new mechanism for the removal of the angular momentum from an X-ray binary system and the change in its orbital period - the mass loss in the form of a wind from an accretion disc. Both ...observations and models predict powerful winds from discs in X-ray transients. We have obtained an analytical estimate for the increase in the orbital period of a binary system with a wind from the disc during an outburst, and quantitative estimates are given for the systems XTE J1118+480, A0620-00 and GRS 1124-68. Resulting rate of period grow is of order of the observed rates of secular decrease in the period. We also compare the predicted rate of change in the period of a binary system due to the flow of matter into the disc and outflow from the second Lagrange point with the observations. It is concluded that the above mechanisms cannot explain the observed secular decrease in the period of the three X-ray Novae, and it is necessary to consider a circumbinary disc that drains the binary's angular momentum.
Pieces of data on the synthesis and antitumour activity of 4-aminoquinazolines are summarized and analyzed. Key methods for the synthesis of these compounds are considered, primarily ...cyclocondensation of carboxylic acid derivatives, as well as the oxidation of quinazolines and the cyclization of disubstituted thioureas. Improvements of synthetic schemes for erlotinib, gefitinib and lapatinib, which are the best-known pharmaceuticals based on compounds of the title class, are also considered. Synthetic strategies and biological activities for new 4-aminoquinazoline derivatives that are EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors, multiactive compounds, and labelled compounds for use as positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agents are discussed. The bibliography includes 263 references.
Enteroviruses are non-enveloped viruses of Enterovirus genus, Picornaviridae family, causing a variety of human diseases: from acute respiratory and intestinal infections to more severe pathologies ...including poliomyelitis, encephalitis, myocarditis, pancreatitis. Currently, no approved direct-acting antiviral drugs for treatment of enterovirus infections exists, whereas vaccination is available only for prevention of poliomyelitis and enterovirus 71 infection. Therefore, it is promising to conduct a search for inhibitors of enteroviruses life cycle in drug development to treat enterovirus infections. Here, antiviral properties of stable free radicals, verdazyls, and their precursors, leucoverdazyls, were investigated. It has been shown that leucoverdazyls vs verdazyls increased the survival of permissive cell culture infected with coxsackievirus. The activity range of the lead leucoverdazyl against RNA-containing and DNA-containing human viruses (in the viral yield reduction assay) and its proposed mechanism of action (time of addition assay) was studied. The lead compound suppressed reproduction of group B enteroviruses in vitro, with modest activity against influenza A virus and no activity against herpes virus type 1 and adenovirus type 5. The maximum decrease in viral titers was observed upon its addition to infected cells during early and middle stages of the virus life cycle. Thus, we concluded that the studied compound has a pronounced inhibitory activity against group B enteroviruses not belonging to the class of capsid binder inhibitors, without virucidal properties. Previously, we described antioxidant properties of leucoverdazyls. It is known that many viral infections are accompanied by production of reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress, and some compounds with antioxidant properties exhibit antiviral potential. Targeted chemical modifications of leucoverdazyls and further studies of leucoverdazyl mechanism of action as well as in vivo animal studies are needed. However, the results obtained may be useful for future development of new antiviral drugs to treat enteroviral infections.
