The Qiantang Estuary is characterized by high suspended sediment concentrations, due to the world-famous tidal bore. In this study, continuous sediment concentrations has been observed in the inner ...Qiantang Estuary in April, June, September and November of 2018, by fixing an OBS on a floating platform. The results show that SSC have both tidally and seasonal variations, in particular influenced by the tidal bore. In summer and autumn the tidal ranges were relatively large and the time series of SSC were spike-similar. In spring and winter the tidal ranges were relatively smaller and the time series of SSC were similar to a sine/cosine curve. SSC is largest in autumn, followed by summer and winter, and smallest in spring. SSCs in the summer and autumn correlate positively with tidal range but the correlations in spring and winter are less insignificant. SSC depends mainly on the tidal range given the tidal range is large enough. Under relatively smaller tidal range, the relative importance of other factors such as river discharge, bed level changes and winds, etc., on the sediment concentrations would be increased.
Bridgman directional solidification and laser remelting experiments were carried out on Nd11.76Fe82.36B5.88 and Nd13.5Fe79.75B6.75 alloys. Microstructure evolutions along with solidification ...parameters (temperature gradient G, growth velocity V and initial alloy composition C0) were investigated. A solidification microstructure selection map was established, based on the consideration of solidification characteristics of peritectic T1 phase. In Bridgman directional solidification experiments, with the increasing growth velocities, the morphology of T1 phase changed from plane front or faceted plane front to dendrites. In laser remelting experiments, a transition from primary γ-Fe dendrites to T1 dendrites was found. Theoretical predictions are in good agreement with experimental results.
We examine the absorption and resonance Raman spectra of mass-selected Sc clusters, and obtain the spectra of tetramers of Sc. Tetramers are produced in a sputtering source and mass filtered with a ...Wien filter, then neutralized and deposited in an Ar matrix. The absorption spectrum indicates several new optical transitions at 350, 451, 538, and 563 nm. Raman resonances were excited at 488 nm with transitions at 222, 166, and

We report a high-frequency GaN high-electron-mobility transistor based on the InAlGaN/AlN/GaN heterostructure. A device with an 8-nm-ultrathin barrier layer and a 50-nm-long gate exhibits a maximum ...current density of 2.22 A/mm, a peak extrinsic transconductance of 0.97 S/mm, and a low on-resistance Ron of 0.94 Ω·mm. Furthermore, an excellent small-signal RF performance is acquired. The device after de-embedding reveals a high current-gain cutoff frequency (fT) of 182 GHz and a high power-gain cutoff frequency (fmax) of 402 GHz simultaneously. To the best of our knowledge, the fmax reported in this work is the highest achieved to date in GaN-based HEMTs fabricated by a conventional process. These outstanding performances clearly demonstrate the great potential of an ultrathin quaternary barrier for millimeter-wave power applications.
We report on an observation of the luminescence spectrum of mass-selected CuAg in an argon matrix. Although no Raman spectrum is obtained, an emission progression up to

A series of phosphonothioic acid derivatives of (S)-2-hydroxyglutarate with various alkyl or aryl ligands to the central phosphorus atom was examined for stereoselective inhibition of the glutamate ...carboxypeptidase, carboxypeptidase G. The inhibitory potencies of these stereoisomers were compared to corresponding synthetic phosphonic acid analogues in order to reveal the significance of the sulfur ligand of the phosphonothioic acid motif upon the inhibition of this metallopeptidase. The acquisition of the individual phosphonothioic acid diastereomers was achieved through the resolution of the respective phosphonate ester precursors. In all cases, the (+)p-diastereomers of these phosphonothioic acid derivatives of (S)-2-hydroxyglutarate were found to be more potent inhibitors of glutamate carboxypeptidase than the corresponding (-)p antipodes with the most dramatic difference observed for the butyl isomers (13.6-fold). Based upon Ki values obtained, the most potent inhibitor of the series by nearly an order of magnitude was the (+)p-n-butylphosphonothioic acid derivative, revealing specific structural and stereochemical requirements by this glutamate carboxypeptidase. With the exception of the (+)p-n-butyl analogue, the isosteric replacement of oxygen with sulfur of the phosphonic acid moiety did not enhance inhibitory potency.
beta-adrenergic receptors (beta-ARs) play an important role in cardiac remodeling, which is the key pathological process in various heart diseases and leads to heart failure. However, the regulation ...of beta-AR expression in remodeling hearts is still unclear. This study aims to clarify the possible mechanisms underlying the regulation of beta.sub.1 - and beta.sub.2 -AR expression in cardiac remodeling. The rat model of cardiac remodeling was established by subcutaneous injection of isoproterenol(ISO) at the dose of 0.25 mg#183;kg.sup.-1 #183;d.sup.-1 for 7days. We found that the expression of beta.sub.1 - and beta.sub.2 -ARs decreased in the remodeling heart. The mechanisms may include the inhibition of DNA transcription and the increase of mRNA degradation. cAMP-response element binding protein(CREB) is a well-known transcription factor of beta-AR. However, the expression and activation of CREB was not changed in the remodeling heart. Further, human Antigen-R (HuR), a RNA binding protein, which binds to the 3'-untranslated region of the beta-AR mRNA and promotes RNA degradation, was increased in the remodeling model. And in vitro, HuR deficiency reversed the reduction of beta-AR mRNA induced by ISO. Therefore, the present findings indicate that HuR, but not CREB, is responsible for the reduction of beta-AR expression in ISO induced cardiac remodeling.

Detection of circulating tumor cells (CTC) is an important liquid biopsy technique that has advanced considerably in recent years. To further advance the development of technology for curing cancer, ...several CTC technologies have been proposed by various research groups. Despite their potential role in early cancer diagnosis and prognosis, CTC methods are currently used for research purposes only, and very few methods have been accepted for clinical applications because of difficulties, including CTC heterogeneity, CTC separation from the blood, and a lack of thorough clinical validation. Although current CTC technologies have not been truly implemented, they possess high potential as future clinical diagnostic techniques for individualized cancer. Here, we review current developments in CTC separation technology. We also explore new CTC detection methods based on telomerase and nanomaterials, such as in vivo flow cytometry. In addition, we discuss the difficulties that must be overcome before CTC can be applied in clinical settings.
