Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) demonstrate strong potential for various important applications due to their well tunable structures and compositions through metal and organic linker engineering. As ...an effective approach, topology evolution by controlling linker conformation has received considerable attention, where solvents and acids have crucial effects on structural formation. However, a systematic study of such effects remains under investigated. Herein, we carried out a methodical study on the topology evolution in Zr-MOFs directed by solvothermal conditions with various combinations of three common solvents and six different acids. As a result, three Zr-MOFs with different topologies, scu (HIAM-4007), scp (HIAM-4008), and csq (HIAM-4009), were obtained using the same Zr6-cluster and tetratopic carboxylate linker, in which structure diversity shows significant influence on their corresponding photoluminescence quantum yields. Further experiments revealed that the acidity of acids and the basicity of solvents strongly influenced the linker conformation in the resultant MOFs, leading to the topology evolution. Such a solvent- and acid-assisted topology evolution represents a general approach that can be used with other tetratopic carboxylate linkers to realize structural diversity. The present work demonstrates an effective structure designing strategy by controlling synthetic conditions, which may prove to be powerful for customized synthesis of MOFs with specific structure and functionality.
Herein, we demonstrate the successful utilization of reticular chemistry as an excellent designing strategy for the deliberate construction of a zirconium–tetracarboxylate metal–organic framework ...(MOF) inspired by the Olympic rings. HIAM-4017, with an unprecedented (4,8)-c underlying net topology termed jcs, was developed via insightful reconstruction of the rings and judicious design of a nonsymmetric organic linker. HIAM-4017 exhibits high porosity and excellent chemical and thermal stability. Furthermore, excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) was achieved in an isoreticular MOF, HIAM-4018, with a large Stokes shift of 155 nm as a result of introducing the hydroxyl group to the linker skeleton to induce OH···N interactions. Such interactions were analyzed thoroughly by employing the time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT). Because of their good thermal and chemical stability, and strong luminescence, nanosized HIAM-4017 and HIAM-4018 were fabricated and used for Cr2O7 2– detection. Both MOFs demonstrate excellent sensitivity and selectivity. This work represents a neat example of building structure- and property-specific MOFs guided by reticular chemistry.
Zirconium-based metal–organic frameworks (Zr-MOFs) have been extensively studied due to their very rich structural chemistry. The combination of nearly unlimited carboxylic acid-based linkers and Zr6 ...clusters with multiple connectivities has led to diverse structures and specific properties of resultant Zr-MOFs. Herein, we demonstrate the successful use of reticular chemistry to construct two novel Zr-MOFs, HIAM-4040 and HIAM-4040-OH, with zfu topology. Based on a thorough structural analysis of (4,4)-connected lvt-type Zr-tetracarboxylate frameworks and a judicious linker design, we have obtained the first example of a Zr-pentacarboxylate framework featuring unprecedented 5-connected organic linkers and 5-connected Zr6 clusters. Compared with HIAM-4040, a larger Stokes shift is achieved in HIAM-4040-OH via hydroxyl group induced excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT). HIAM-4040-OH exhibits high chemical and thermal stability and is used for HClO detection in aqueous solution with excellent sensitivity and selectivity.
Objective
The levels of platelet-related inflammation indicators and sarcopenia have been reported to affect the survival of patients with cancer. To evaluate the prognostic influence of platelet ...count (PLT), platelet lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic immune inflammation index (SII), and SII combined with sarcopenia on the survival of patients with gastric cancer (GC).
Methods
A total of 1133 patients with GC (812 male and 321 female, average age: 59.43 years) were evaluated. Receiver-operating characteristic curves were used to determine the best cutoff values of PLT, PLR, and SII, and univariate and multivariate Cox risk regression models were used to evaluate whether SII is an independent predictor of overall survival (OS). The prognostic SS (SII-sarcopenia) was established based on SII and sarcopenia. Finally, a comprehensive analysis of the prognostic SS was performed.
Results
SII had the strongest prognostic effect. The SII and OS of patients with GC were in an inverted U-shape (adjusted HR = 1.07; 95% CI 0.97–1.19; adjusted
P
= 0.179). In patients with SII > 1800, SII was negatively correlated with OS (adjusted HR = 0.57; 95% CI 0.29–1.12; adjusted
P
= 0.102), however, there is no statistical difference. Interestingly, a high SS was associated with a poorer prognosis. The higher the SS score was, the worse the OS (
P
< 0.001).
Conclusion
SII is an independent prognostic indicator of GC, and high SII is related to poor prognosis. A higher SS score had worse survival. Thus, the prognostic SS is a reliable predictor of OS in patients with GC.
Abstract
The National Genomics Data Center (NGDC), part of the China National Center for Bioinformation (CNCB), provides a family of database resources to support global research in both academia and ...industry. With the explosively accumulated multi-omics data at ever-faster rates, CNCB-NGDC is constantly scaling up and updating its core database resources through big data archive, curation, integration and analysis. In the past year, efforts have been made to synthesize the growing data and knowledge, particularly in single-cell omics and precision medicine research, and a series of resources have been newly developed, updated and enhanced. Moreover, CNCB-NGDC has continued to daily update SARS-CoV-2 genome sequences, variants, haplotypes and literature. Particularly, OpenLB, an open library of bioscience, has been established by providing easy and open access to a substantial number of abstract texts from PubMed, bioRxiv and medRxiv. In addition, Database Commons is significantly updated by cataloguing a full list of global databases, and BLAST tools are newly deployed to provide online sequence search services. Luminescent metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are emerging as one of several promising materials to study light-harvesting and energy-transfer processes. However, it is still a big challenge to tune ...and direct energy transfer in luminescent MOFs-based light-harvesting system. Herein, a series of new light-harvesting zinc-based luminescent MOFs with seh underlying topology were reported by successfully integrating 2,1,3-benzothiadiazole and its derivative-based carboxylic acids and pyridine-contained linkers into one structure. The strong spectra overlap between the emission and absorption spectra of carboxylic acids and pyridine-type linkers afforded an ideal platform to realize efficient energy transfer from the blue to near-infrared range. This work provides a novel approach to the rational design and synthesis of MOFs-based multicomponent light-harvesting materials with tunable energy transfer to mimic natural photosynthetic processes.
Recently, albumin-globulin ratio (AGR), a serological indicator that reflects nutritional status and systemic inflammatory, has been reported to be associated with the prognosis of various cancers. ...However, there is currently no research report on its relationship with cancer cachexia.
This study aimed to explore the prognostic value of AGR in patients with cancer cachexia through a multicenter retrospective analysis.
We recruited 2,364 patients with cancer cachexia and randomly divided the patients into training and validation cohorts at a ratio of 7:3. The optimal stratification method was used to determine the optimal cutoff value of AGR. The survival curve was evaluated by the Kaplan-Meier method. Cox regression proportional-hazards model was used to determine independent prognostic factors in patients with cancer cachexia. The time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve was used to compare the prognostic performance of different malnutrition evaluation tools.
The optimal cutoff value of AGR is 1.24 in patients with cancer cachexia. Increasing AGR was associated with survival in a dose-response manner with a forward L-shape. Compared with the high AGR group, the low AGR group had a shorter overall survival; and there was consistency in training and validation cohorts. In the stratified analysis of TNM stage, AGR has good prognostic distinguishing ability for advanced patients. Multivariate survival analysis determined that low AGR was an independent risk factor affecting all-cause mortality in patients with cancer cachexia. In addition, compared with other malnutrition evaluation tools, AGR could effectively stratify the prognosis of patients with cancer cachexia.

The water level fluctuations, rainstorms, and plants could lead to the variation in soil properties in the water-level fluctuation zone (WLFZ) and thus may influence the soil erosion resistance (soil erodibility, Kr, and critical shear stress, τc). However, variation in soil properties and its influence on the dynamic change of soil erosion resistance to overland flow in the WLFZ of the Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR) still unclear and need to be further quantified. Therefore, soil samples from different elevations were collected along a slope profile at different times in the WLFZ of the TGR, then the soil properties and plant biomass were measured and the soil detachment capacity (Dc) were estimated by conducting a scouring experiment. Then the Kr and τc were obtained according to the linear relationship between Dc and shear stress. The results indicated that most measured soil properties suffered low variability but organic matter content showed the moderate variability. Kr varied from 0.10 to 0.17 s m−1 and τc varied in the range of 1.56–2.24 Pa for all sampling points, and both showed spatial and temporal variations. Kr decreased with increasing elevation until reaching a minimum value and then increased spatially, while it showed a decreasing trend or a decreasing trend followed by an increasing trend over time for different elevation segments temporally. τc increased with increasing elevation spatially and increased or showed an increase followed by a decrease over time for different elevation segments temporally. Kr was significantly influenced by clay, silt, and sand content, mean weight diameter and soil organic matter content, while τc was only affected by clay content. These research results highlight the dynamic change of soil erosion resistance and are helpful for understanding the spatial and temporal variations in soil erosion resistance in the WLFZ of the TGR area.
Bovine rhinitis B virus (BRBV) has been frequently identified in cattle diagnosed with bovine respiratory disease complex (BRDC) in recent years, suggesting its potential contribution to BRDC. The ...goal of this study was to develop a TaqMan-based real-time quantitative RT-PCR assay for efficient BRBV detection. A pair of primers and a probe were designed based on the 3D gene of the BRBV genome. The assay was specific for BRBV and able to exclude bovine rhinitis A virus, foot-and-mouth disease virus and Senecavirus A. The limit of detection of the assay was 4.46 copies per reaction. copies/μl. The reproducibility of the assay was acceptable, with the standard deviations of cycle threshold values lower than 1.00 in both intra- and inter-assay. Of 200 samples collected from 150 head of cattle in recent years in China, 11% (22/200) of the samples tested positive in the assay, i.e., 4.6% (7/150) of the cattle were BRBV positive. This study provides an efficient diagnostic tool for the epidemiological investigations of BRBV.
