Avtorica v članku obravnava »begunsko problematiko« v oddaji Odmevi na slovenski javni televiziji. Zanima jo, kako konvencionalna naturalizirana pravila novinarske prakse in uprizarjanje nevtralizma ...kot sestavnega dela profesionalne samopredstave političnega novinarstva določajo obravnavo teme.
Based on the assumptions that digital media are used as integrated structures or “polymedia repertoires” and that media practices cannot be treated as unrelated practices performed on distinct ...platforms, the present study examined the digital sociability of young people and their media prosumption in a polymedia environment. Data were collected from group interviews of 67 12- to 19-year-olds and 59 personal visualised media sketches. The study focused on teenage engagement with news as part of their media repertoires and their understanding of what news is in the context of general platform sociability conditions, including a state of permanent connectedness and constant anticipation of something new. Their sociability based on permanent activity and affective engagement was enabled and framed by the algorithmically produced regime of visibility and the promise of liveness. The findings indicated that an important consequence of the increased fragmentation of activities is the naturalisation of the performance of multiple media practices at the same time. Although the complexity of such performance, even among teenagers, revealed socially distinctive categories, clear hierarchies between types of practices—such as watching news or pop culture, online shopping and doing homework—and the cultural differentiation of the dominant contexts for these practices—such as school and leisure—were eroded. The contexts of school, home, and leisure thus collapse, and the definition of important news journalism becomes highly unstable, with the distinction between pop and politics generally disintegrating.
Through the perspective of the concept of generations and generationally specific digital sociality, the paper analyses the transformation of reading as a practice and as an experience. Based on ...analysis of interviews with teenagers, it is argued that in today’s polymedia environment users are constantly shifting between platforms and live in constant anticipation of something new, being permanently occupied, and constant affective engagement represent a condition for an algorithmically produced regime of visibility that normalises the distracted multitasking they engage in. In the context of constant digital work, there remains little space for practices beyond social platforms. The authors argue that in the young interviewees’ perception book reading does not hold the status of a cultural authority and that the role played by reading in distributing cultural capital has been reshaped.
Predavanja so tako zaradi tesne integracije v siceršnjo medijsko pro-trošnjo izgubila svojo ritualno distinktivnost in lokacijo zunaj komodificirane digitalne kulture.
The article argues for audience studies that draw on the analysis of artefactual, spatial, temporal and sensorial aspects of media consumption and build on so- -called medium theory and the theory of ...practice in sociology. In part two of the article, we interpret the results of a qualitative empirical study regarding the daily use of media technology among young people aged 19–29 years. The study finds that the circumstances in which digital media have colonised all spheres of public life and in which online social life has become completely naturalised have led to constant online connectivity as well as highly fragmented and dispersed communication practices of users as they move among different media. The analysis of media consumption diaries points to radical mediatisation, which is playing an important role in the changing generational structure of feeling.

The article argues for the audience studies, which draws on the analysis of artifactual, spatial, temporal, and sensorial aspects of media consumption and builds on, that is, the so-called medium ...theory and theory of practice in sociology. In the second part of the article, we interpret the results of a qualitative empirical study regarding the daily use of media technology among young people, aged between 19 and 29 years. The study finds that circumstances, under which digital media have colonized all spheres of public life and under which online social life has become completely naturalized, have led to constant online connectivity as well as highly fragmented and dispersed communication practices of users moving between different media. The analysis of media consumption diaries points to radical mediatization, which plays an important role in the changing generational structure of feeling.

In this article I investigate the representation of the "refugee problem" in the Odmevi current affairs program on Slovenian national TV. I aim to explore how conventional, naturalized codes and ...neutralism as a constitutive element of professional self-presentation in political journalism determined the treatment of the "refugee problem". In this context, I analyze the selection of external or "accessed" voices in the Odmevi studio interview, the discursive framing of interviewees and their placement into the show's narrative. The main findings are a) that the selection and b) the discursive treatment of studio guests in Odmevi's interviews caused or rather enabled the debate on the "refugee problem" to be narrowed to the sphere of legitimate controversy represented by partisan politics. The selection and treatment of accessed voices (interviewees and guests) created the so-called opinion or discursive tunnel, which consequently led to the complete symbolical marginalization of all views that fell outside the parliamentary mainstream and its interests, and hence to treating the problem as a mere sequence of events.
This study investigates jeans use as well as the discursive practices that framed jeans-wearing in 1960s and 1970s socialist Yugoslavia. We adopt a practice theory approach that goes beyond the ...expressive capacity of jeans and focuses on their material and practical capacity as an epitome of cultural transformation. Practices discussed include embodied practices enabled by jeans and those that have jeans as their target, such as smuggling, dreaming, remaking, appreciation of authentic jeans and rejection of domestic substitutes, emotions about jeans, wearing jeans, and public narratives regarding jeans. We find that the significance of jeans-wearing was created by difficulty of access, the practice of semi-legal smuggling, contact with the West, and the "Italianness" of jeans. Jeans are conceptualized as a key point of connection between material and social transformation and a new structure of feeling, including the intimate experience of the body and its public presentation. We argue that the study of material artifacts as integral to certain practices helps us approach the larger systemic dimensions of (socialist) subjectivity and social transformation against the backdrop of the symbolic boundaries that divided East and West.
