The volume contains a collection of research articles by leading experts in group theory, and reports of several accessible surveys of recent research in the area. The compilation provide an overview ...of the diversity of themes and applications that interest today's group theorists. The topics covered in this volume include: character theory, combinatorial group theory, varieties of groups, conjugacy classes, profinite groups, graphs connected with groups, subgroup structure, representation theory.
The electrochemical properties of the title compound reveal electronic interactions between two dicobalt-dicarbon clusters via a 1,12-para-carborane cage.
Experts in the theory of finite groups and in representation theory provide insight into various aspects of group theory, such as the classification of finite simple groups, character theory, groups ...with special properties, table algebras, etc. Information for our distributors include: This book is co-published with Bar-Ilan University (Ramat-Gan, Israel).
The authors conducted a longitudinal study on two samples of patients, fulfilling Research Diagnostic Criteria for schizoaffective disorder and for major affective disorder, respectively. The ...long-term course in patients defined cross-sectionally as schizoaffective was very heterogeneous. Ten different patterns of course were identified. In schizoaffectives showing a bipolar course with the occurrence of pure affective episodes, the outcome was not different from that in patients with a cross-sectional diagnosis of major affective disorder, whereas in schizoaffectives whose course was characterized by the occurrence of schizodepressive episodes only, or of schizodepressive and schizophrenic episodes, the outcome was significantly poorer than in patients diagnosed as affective.
Samples of health Rs from Australia, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, & Sweden completed a questionnaire aimed at assessing their experiences of their parents' childrearing practices. For purposes of ...comparison, emotional warmth, rejection, & overprotection obtained in a previous factor analytic study were used. The most pronounced differences occurred between the Dutch & the Swedish samples, on the one hand, & the Italian & Australian samples on the other, with the Danish sample in between. Differences in perceived parental practices should be considered when comparing personality characteristics &/or psychopathological conditions in Rs from different countries. 3 Tables, 16 References. A comparison of 85 Italian & 49 Swedish patients consecutively admitted for compulsory treatment at 8 psychiatric units (N = 5 in Italy & 3 in Sweden); focus is on the effects of Italy's 1985 ...Psychiatric Reform Law, designed to discourage compulsory admissions to mental hospitals. Sociodemographic information forms & psychological assessments & scales indicate that the 2 groups are quite similar: the largest proportion had a low educational level & belonged to lower social groups, & the same proportion had previous psychiatric admissions. More Swedish than Italian patients had lived alone prior to admission & were more often referred by people other than relatives, eg, medical or social welfare workers, who accompanied them to the hospital. Italian patients remained hospitalized for shorter lengths of time than did the Swedish, despite having been admitted with more diagnoses of dangerousness, while the Swedish were more often admitted for odd or improper behaviors. 13 Tables, 11 References.
