Students with autism disorders require various adaptations to the learning environment and specific learning strategies, which is a significant challenge for schools and teachers. The success of ...their inclusion depends primarily on the attitude, experience and competence of the school's professional staff, the availability of resources, and the possibility of teamwork. Nevertheless, research shows a lack of critical conditions for implementing inclusive education of these students, which is reflected in an increased risk of their academic and social exclusion and of increasing teachers' workload. Schools also lack flexibility in working with parents. The solution lies in ging beyond the ideals of educational inclusion, respecting equity, and accomplishing the social model of disability treatment.
Pričujoči prispevek na podlagi gradiva Mestne občine Maribor, ki ga hrani Pokrajinski arhiv Maribor, najbolj relevantnih časnikov ter celovitega nabora znanstvene literature osvetljuje manj znane in ...še neznane vidike prvega županskega mandata dr. Alojzija Juvana (1928–1931).
The aim of the study was to analyze the differences in degree of self-determination between students with and without disabilities and to relate these differences to grade point average and gender in ...both groups. Students in both groups were equalized in pairs by age, gender and school program (n = 122; 61 pairs). Results indicate that students with disabilities have a lower level of self-determination than their peers without disabilities. With regards to gender, girls with disabilities have the lowest level of self-determination. An analysis of differences in self-determination by grade point average (GPA) showed that students with and without disabilities who had high GPAs have higher levels of self-determination than students with low GPAs. Results of this study reveal important fields of intervention, especially for students with disabilities.
The article concerns educational work with students who have learning difficulties with foreign languages in Slovenian primary schools. The aim of the research was to investigate current methodical ...and organisational elements of teacher's support in foreign language teaching for students (aged 9-15) with learning difficulties, according to the location of the school, being either urban or rural. A non-random sample was taken, which consisted of foreign language teachers who teach in the Slovenian primary and lower-secondary levels (N = 47). An analysis of the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences between rural and urban schools concerning teacher-support for students with learning difficulties in learning English as a foreign language. The research shows that some of the sources of support for children with learning difficulties are relatively underutilized, even though they have proven to be effective when put into inclusive practice internationally.
Rešitev vidimo v preseganju ideala vzgojnoizobraževalne inkluzije, spoštovanju pravičnosti in uveljavljanju socialnega modela obravnave.
The main part of the article presents the results of most recent empirical study about the qualify of life for families in Slovenia that have a child with intellectual disabilities and other ...developmental disabilities. Using the FQOLS-2006 we analysed nine quality of life domains (Health, Financial Well-Being, Family Relationships, Support from Others, Support Services, Influence of Values, Careers, Leisure, Community Interaction) from the perspective of six measurement dimensions. The study also examines the differences among the measurement dimensions in the nine domains. The sample consisted of 44 families. We used descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (Friedman test). The Family Relationships domain had the highest average rating of all measured domains regarding the quality of family life. The results in the domain of Support from Others are not encouraging, in particular the domain of Support from Services. Families require powerful support programs of qualified professional teams as well as societal and political attention.
This study investigates primary school teachers' sense of efficacy in their work with pupils with learning, emotional, and behavioural difficulties (LEBD), both in mainstream inclusive classrooms and ...in special classrooms for pupils in residential treatment institutions. Using an online questionnaire survey, data were collected on teachers' self-efficacy, efficacy beliefs on their ability to teach LEBD pupils, and perceived ability to apply knowledge from different socio-pedagogical areas. Mainstream classroom teachers perceived higher efficacy in collaborating with parents of LEBD pupils, in most aspects of their ability to handle pupils' learning and behavioural problems, and in most aspects of their ability to use knowledge from different socio-pedagogical areas. Conversely, special classroom teachers perceived higher efficacy in aspects related to their pupils' engagement and comprehension of learning material, and in their classroom management ability, particularly in managing pupils' disruptive behaviour.
