Interstitial pregnancy is a rare entity that usually leads to the rupture of the uterus. The difficulty and delay in diagnosing this condition have been reported to cause high mortality rates. Here, ...we present the case of a 36-year-old woman who presented to the emergency department with severe epigastric pain and hemodynamic instability. Her current gestational age (GA) could not be accurately measured as she was unbooked and had irregular periods. However, by abdominal examination, the GA was estimated to be 38 weeks, whereas by ultrasound it was approximately 28 weeks. It was also noted that the uterus was empty, and the fetus was found in the abdominal cavity. Hence, a working diagnosis of uterine rupture was made and the patient was taken for emergency laparotomy. The patient delivered an alive 1.2 kg baby. Intraoperatively, the placenta was implanted in the interstitial part of the right fallopian tube. The placenta was then excised and right salpingectomy was performed, following which the abdomen was closed in layers. Postoperatively, the patient made an uneventful recovery and was discharged home in stable condition; however, the baby passed away due to complications related to extreme prematurity.
General Anxiety Disorder has become an increasing problem in the youth population. The authors conducted a survey of youth ages 16-24, on what life is like for those who are living with anxiety. In ...this cohort of 200, the youngest participants were the least likely to be diagnosed, see a professional, and take medication for their anxiety. A significant number said that anxiety affects their day-to-day lives and also causes many physical side effects.
The aim was to evaluate the disinfection of E. coli, S. aureus and S. mutans cultured on Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) resin polymer using microwave disinfection and sodium perborate (DC). Biofilms ...of E. coli, S. aureus and S. mutans were cultured on the PMMA denture base for 24, 36, 48 and 96 h. Specimens were subjected to three disinfection protocols, including microwave disinfection in distilled water (MW-DW), sodium perborate (denture cleaning tablet) with distilled water (DC-DW) and a combination of MW-DC-DW for 1 to 5 min. Colony-forming units among the study groups were analyzed using Kruskal–Wallis and Mann–Whitney tests. For E. coli and S. aureus cultured on PMMA, the MW-DC-DW group displayed complete disinfection at 2 min of exposure. However, for both bacteria, the MW-DW disinfection group showed zero CFU at 3 min. DC disinfection for E. coli and S. aureus displayed zero CFU at 5 min of exposure (p ≤ 0.05). For S. mutans, MW-DC-DW and MW-DW displayed zero CFU count at 1 min and 2 min, respectively. In DC-treated samples, CFU were significantly zero at 4 min when compared with the control at each growth time. A combination of MW irradiation with DC (sodium perborate) showed higher disinfection percentage of bacterial species on PMMA polymer denture bases compared to MW and DC alone. PMMA disinfection using DC displayed a lower antimicrobial disinfection percentage than the combined use of MW and DC as well as MW alone at 1 min or 2 min disinfection for E. coli, S. aureus and S. mutans.
Various disinfecting agents showing variable success in disinfecting polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) are available. The aim of our study was to evaluate the antifungal efficacy of sodium perborate ...(denture cleaning tablet-DC), microwave irradiation, and their combination for eradicating candida albicans (C. albicans) from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) denture base polymer. One hundred and sixty-eight PMMA resin specimens (30 × 30 × 15 mm) were divided into four groups, including control (no disinfection), microwave disinfection in distilled water (MW-DW), sodium perborate with distilled water (DC-DW), and a combination of MW-DC-DW (n = 10). Biofilms of C. albicans were cultured on the PMMA resin denture base specimens for 96 h. The samples were exposed to three different antifungal regimes, i.e., MW, denture cleaning agent-sodium perborate (DC) and DW, and a combination of MW-DC-DW for 1 to 5 min. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was performed to evaluate colony formation. The colony-forming units (CFU) among the experimental groups were assessed using ANOVA, a Kruskal–Wallis test, and a Mann–Whitney test. The mean CFU values were compared with the control for each disinfecting regime at 96 h growth time. For MW-DC-DW, the CFU were significantly low at 2 and 3 min of exposure when compared with the control (DW) (p < 0.05). For the MW-DW treated group, the CFU were significantly low at 3 min of exposure when compared with the control (DW) (p < 0.05). It was also found that for DC-DW, the CFU were significantly low at 5 minutes when compared with the control specimens (DW) (p < 0.05). Microwave disinfection in combination with sodium perborate is a more effective disinfecting regime against C. albicans than that of microwave disinfection and sodium perborate alone.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of 17% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and ethanolic extract of Sapindus mukorossi (S. mukorossi) in combination with canal shaping on ...surface properties of ProTaper Gold rotary endodontic file. Sixteen F1 ProTaper Gold rotary files underwent the standard protocol for root canal treatment using two irrigants (S. mukorossi and 17% EDTA) in single-rooted decoronated teeth. Eight unused files were used as a control. All files were examined under an atomic force microscope (AFM) to evaluate surface roughness (Ra) and root mean square (RMS). Data were analyzed using the t-test. RMS and Ra values of the control file were 1.37 and 0.607, respectively. The mean RMS (3.70 ± 1.41) and mean Ra (2.89 ± 1.41) in EDTA group were significantly higher than the control file (p < 0.05). The mean RMS in the S. mukorossi group (1.77 ± 0.66) did not show any significant difference with the control (p > 0.05). The Ra of S. mukorossi group (1.09 ± 0.05) was significantly higher than the control file (p < 0.05). Moreover, the mean RMS and Ra were found to be significantly higher in the EDTA group compared to the S. mukorossi group (p < 0.05). The mean Ra and RMS values of the ProTaper Gold files used to prepare canals using 17% EDTA and S. mukorossi irrigation were significantly higher than the control files. The EDTA-treated ProTaper Gold rotary files demonstrated higher surface Ra and RMS than the S. mukorossi files.
Despite evidence for the established role of a professional learning community in supporting teacher professional learning and development, it is still among the most under-utilized resources ...available to teachers. The current study in a major educational institution in the Gulf sets an example for establishing professional learning communities (PLCs) in unusually challenging academic contexts. These contexts often lack support from the administration for teacher professional learning and development, and there is minimal collaboration among colleagues. While synthesizing ideas from mainstream literature and social psychology, the study expands the conceptual base for establishing PLCs and offers a strategic vision for developing highly effective teachers through participation in a synergistic PLC. Following Interpretive Research Paradigm, the study employed ethnographic research methodology to understand how the participants in the study describe themselves and their actions as well as their interactions with others. Based on a thematic analysis conducted using NVivo software, the findings suggest that goal-oriented collaboration of teachers in a PLC, where empathy, maturity, and abundance mentality are practised, can prepare teachers for professional excellence, leading to significant improvements in student learning and achievement. Utilizing Europium(III), compounds having eight-coordination geometry of the type Eu(hfpd)3L2 and Eu(hfpd)3Lʹ were synthesized hfpd = 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoro-2,4-pentanedione, L = tri-octyl-phosphine ...oxide (TOPO) and Lʹ = 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), Neocuproine (neoc) and bathocuproine (bathoc) and characterized through elemental, FTIR, CV and Proton-NMR techniques. Photoluminescent studies and quantum yield helped to understand the role of coordination environment and ligands on the emission intensity. Luminescence decay curves served as the basis for calculating the excited-state lifetimes of the synthesized complexes. JO parameters (Ω2, Ω4) and asymmetry ratio were also evaluated to study the coordination environment around the central metal ion. Solid-state complexes exhibited an intense, monochromatic bright red emission, as characterized by its Commission International de l’Eclairage (CIE) color coordinates. Owing to red luminescence and semi-conducting properties, these Eu(III) complexes can be employed as red-emitting material for fabricating lighting devices.

Dysprosium (Dy3+) containing four single-molecule complexes with 1,3-diketone ligand, TFPB (4,4,4-trifluoro-1-phenyl-1,3-butadionate) along with neutral co-ligands of varying denticity were ...synthesized and two of them were explored as potential sources of near-white light emission. The choice of ligand as well as the coordination surroundings of Dy(III) ion significantly influence the blue (B: 4F9/2 → 6H15/2) and yellow (Y: 4F9/2 → 6H13/2) emissions. The inclusion of the auxiliary ligand such as topo in D1 leads to reduction in emission intensity compared to D2-D4 due to less effective sensitization. At room temperature, the CIE color coordinates for complexes D1 and D4 approach the coordinates of perfectly balanced and idealized white light (0.333, 0.333). Furthermore, Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) values for D1 and D4 characterize them as cold-white-light emitters, while the complexes D2 and D3 are categorized as a neutral-light emitter. In addition to their visible emissions, the semi-conducting properties and suitable deactivation lifetime corresponding to these synthesized complexes (D1-D4) have also been extensively studied and found potential applications in basic research, security printing, sensors, detectors and OLEDs.

Uterine rupture during pregnancy is a critical obstetric complication associated with maternal and fetal mortality and morbidity. We present a case of uterine rupture at 27 weeks of gestation, ...following a previous cornual pregnancy managed laparoscopically. Our case report underlines the importance of multilayered uterine wall repair following the resection of cornual ectopic pregnancy to avoid such potentially catastrophic sequelae.
