This paper analyses the reasons of teachers’ commitment in special schools from Prahova County where an increasing number of children with severe and multiple disabilities, institutional tasks and ...responsibilities. We have used as methods documents’ analysis (legislative documents, curricula documents, job description etc.) and group-interview with teachers. An important finding of our research is that the teachers’ commitment is positively correlated with the wellbeing and achievement of children with disabilities. Other reasons for teachers’ commitment are the positive emotional attachment to children with disabilities and their families and the responsibility to maintain professional knowledge. These results indicate that teachers’ commitment from special schools is a predictor or an echo of their humanity and loyalty.
This paper proposes to identify the gratitude practice of a group of 40 master students at Petroleum-Gas University of Ploiesti, young people that have been raised in a society dominated by ...capitalist values: individualism, consume, competition, efficiency, and financial power. Research objectives have followed to analyse the gratitude level for their lives, to the investigated master students, to identify the important persons from their lives and the changes determined by the exercise of Gratitude Journal. Content analyse of the journals demonstrated the lack of gratitude practice of master students, their focus on negative aspects of their lives, the limited number of persons their feel gratitude for, the negative perception on today society, but also positive changes in their lives as a consequence of the exercise of Gratitude Journal completion (reflections considering their own live, the important persons and the importance of spending time with family, the satisfaction for making charitable activities).
The professional satisfaction level could be determined by different variables: salary, promotion criteria, working conditions, appreciation, colleagues, school policy etc. and could be presented as ...a complex phenomenon with many connotations for school actors. The objective of the actual study is to analyze professional satisfaction level of teachers from pre-university level and demonstrate the necessity to increase teacher satisfaction level in order to render the professional performances more efficient.
Our paper aims to present an investigation with reference to difficulties which 20 caregivers that are working in a Care and Assistance Centre are confronted with. We were interested to analyse the ...sources for caregivers’ difficulties in their work with adults and elders with mental disabilities and we have reached to the following findings: caregivers mentioned as sources for their difficulties lack of appreciation for their work (85%), beneficiaries’ symptoms and aggressiveness (80%) and their limited expertise in caring for elders with mental disabilities (70%). Suggestions concerning the necessity of developing trainings and counselling services for caregivers are also discussed here.

This paper is a narrative approach of the accounts for six children with Down's syndrome from special and mainstream schools of Ploiesti. The analysis highlighted the commonalities across the ...accounts: personal and social identity, health and psychophysical development, scholar integration, services and programmes. Using documents analysis, semi-structured interview, narrative analysis, we have reached to the following findings: these children do not differentiate themselves from their peers; mainstream school integration is more adequate for academic competencies development; special school integration stimulate more socio-emotional competences. Our findings lead us to the necessity of developing counselling programs for children with D.S. and their families.

In Romania, abused children have difficulties in integration process into the social protection centres, and more, when they get out of the centres, their psychological profile is not improved. In ...this context our paper aims to investigate self esteem level to 21 abused children from an Emergency Reception Centre in order to develop a possible framework for a counselling program. Our findings obtained by documents analysis, observation, self esteem scale and questionnaire indicated that all investigated subjects developed cognitive, affective and behavioural disorders, 81% have a low self esteem and 59% have a low emotional self control. Another important finding is the presence of irrational thoughts about themselves, the others and the future (career and family foundation). Our results have indicated the need for a counselling program for abused children focused on self esteem and positive thinking development.
Even if adoption is perceived as a very intense social and personal phenomenon from an emotional point of view, it remains a theme that is too little analyzed, known and recognized, promoted and ...valued in Romania. Based on the current and potential major risks of adoption services in our country, the present article analyzes, with help from specialized literature in the field, the intolerance and stigmatization of biological parents, adopted children and adopting parents. By the results of empirical and scientific research set out in this article, we want to draw attention to the implications intolerance and stigmatization have on adoption, and to lead the way toward changing the mentality of society in supporting this legal measure in favor of the abandoned child.
This paper contains a preliminary study that explores the perception of speech and language therapists from special schools, Prahova County, towards computer-based therapy. Using documents' analyse ...and individualised interview, we have reached to the conclusion that all investigated speech and language therapists know the advantages and disadvantages of computer-based therapy, but they are used on an average level, more for documentation purposes than to correct speech activities or reduce language disorders of children with disabilities. More, they are using in an overwhelming proportion computer programs especially in a demonstrative purpose (in order to obtain first didactic degree) and less in current practice.
Starting from our previous research on abused children, we have found that in Emergency Reception Centres specialists are focused more on children evaluation (made by centres' psychologist) than on ...their counselling needs. In this context, our paper aims to analyse the impact of an individualised and group counselling program developed with abused children integrated in an Emergency Reception Centre. Our findings have emphasised important changes regarding personal, social and prospective self of counselled children. For example we found that self esteem has increased from 20% to 64% of counselled children, and prospective self have increased from 30% to 85%. The implementation of the individual and the group counselling program have developed self image of abused children and their chances to scholar and social integration.
This article aims to promote alternative ways to ensure counselling services for children with special needs, their families and teachers from special schools. On the basis of an analysis of ...international literature, legislative and curricular documents and the results obtained from investigating the perception of special schools' teachers towards counselling, we suggest counselling programs for parents and teachers to help them develop their counselling skills.
