Effects of heavy sea quarks on the low energy physics are described by an effective theory where the expansion parameter is the inverse quark mass, 1/M. At leading order in 1/M (and neglecting light ...quark masses) the dependence of any low energy quantity on the heavy quark mass is given in terms of the ratio of Λ parameters of the effective and the fundamental theory. We define a function describing the scaling with the mass M. Our study of perturbation theory suggests that its perturbative expansion is very reliable for the bottom quark and also seems to work very well at the charm quark mass. The same is then true for the ratios of Λ(4)/Λ(5) and Λ(3)/Λ(4), which play a major rôle in connecting (almost all) lattice determinations of αMS¯(3) from the three-flavor theory with αMS¯(5)(MZ). Also the charm quark content of the nucleon, relevant for dark matter searches, can be computed accurately from perturbation theory.
In order to further test perturbation theory in this situation, we investigate a very closely related model, namely QCD with Nf=2 heavy quarks. Our non-perturbative information is derived from simulations on the lattice, with masses up to the charm quark mass and lattice spacings down to about 0.023 fm followed by a continuum extrapolation. The non-perturbative mass dependence agrees within rather small errors with the perturbative prediction at masses around the charm quark mass. Surprisingly, from studying solely the massive theory we can make a prediction for the ratio Q0,21/t0=Λt0(0)Nf=2/Λt0Nf=0, which refers to the chiral limit in Nf=2. Here t0 is the Gradient Flow scale of 1. The uncertainty for Q is estimated to be 2.5%. For the phenomenologically interesting Λ(3)/Λ(4), we conclude that perturbation theory introduces errors which are at most at the 1.5% level, smaller than other current uncertainties.
Ikavsko-ekavska zamjena jata karakteristična je za čakavske govore kvarnerskih
otoka, zadarskih otoka, za neke priobalne dijelove sjevernoga primorja
(Novi Vinodolski, Senj, Grobnik), unutrašnjosti ...istarskog poluotoka, Gorskoga
kotara i Like, za pokupsko, prikupsko i žumberačko područje te među govornicima
stare dijaspore (Lukežić 1990). Govori pokupskoga i prikupskoga
područja u kojima je dosada identificiran ikavsko-ekavski refleks jata određeni
su također pripadnošću čakavskome narječju. U ovome radu analizirat će se
ikavsko-ekavski refleks jata u govorima Banskog Kovačevca, Banskih Moravaca,
Banske Selnice, Kablara te Slunjske Selnice. Ovi su punktovi smješteni
na desnoj obali Kupe, 20-ak km istočno od Karlovca. Njihovo današnje stanovništvo
naseljeno je nakon osmanlijskih pustošenja s područja zapadne Bosne
i Pounja, a povjesničar Radoslav Lopašić naziva ih Vlasima (Oko Kupe i
Korane, 1895). Provedena terenska ispitivanja u svima su govorima potvrdila
one jezične osobine koje su u relevantnoj literaturi dosada klasificirane uglavnom
kao značajke štokavskoga narječja (zamjenica štȍ za neživo, četveroakcenatski
sustav, promjena -l na kraju riječi ili sloga u o ili a, novo jotovanje,
umetak -ov/-ev u množini većine jednosložnih imenica muškoga roda, čuvanje
aorista i dr.). Uz poneke iznimke, refleks jata u analiziranim govorima većinom
slijedi pravilo Jakubinskoga i Meyera, stoga ovi rezultati istraživanja nameću
potrebu revidiranja dosadašnjih spoznaja o prostiranju izoglose ikavsko-
-ekavske zamjene jata.

U radu se prikazuju morfološka obilježja imenica u mjesnome govoru Crnoga Luga, koji je dijelom zapadnoga poddijalekta kajkavskoga goranskoga dijalekta. Glavni je cilj istraživanja utvrditi ...vlastitosti u crnoluškoj imeničkoj sklonidbi. Sekundarno, na temelju podudarnosti s obližnjim kajkavskim gorskokotarskim govorima, drugi je cilj rada smjestiti govor Crnoga Luga u širi dijalektološki kontekst u svjetlu goranske morfologije.
The paper describes the morphology of nouns in the
local dialect of Crni Lug in Gorski Kotar, which belongs to the western subtype
of Gorski Kotar Kajkavian dialect. The conclusions are based on the
transcription of the recorded noun paradigms in the area of Crni Lug. The
recordings where made in the summer and winter of 2020. Nouns are classified
into three declension types:
a-
,
e-
and
i-
type according to the grammatical morpheme in genitive singular.
Nouns of the masculine and neuter gender of the Crni Lug dialect belong to the
a-
type, and nouns of the feminine gender
are divided into
e-
and
i-
type. Each case and case continuation
is described separately. In addition, its origin is described separately in
relation to the current situation in which the specifics of the deviation are
determined, and examples of nouns in the dialect of Crni Lug are given as
confirmation.
U radu se iznose rezultati istraživanja fonologije mjesnoga govora Šišljavića, mjesta u istočnome karlovačkome Pokuplju. Riječ je o govoru koji pripada Ivšićevoj turopoljsko-posavskoj skupini tzv. ...revolucionarnih govora. Prozodija se, među ostalim, odlikuje metatonijom neoakuta u dugi silazni naglasak u zad-
njem/jedinom i u većini nezadnjih slogova (tipovi letȋ, mlȃtim), retrakcijom (metataksom) ishodišnoga neocirkumfleksa (tip psekel) te retrakcijom kratkoga naglaska s ultime, pri čemu je kratka penultima naknadno produžena (tipovi vĩno, võda). Samoglasnički sustav karakterizira, u osnovi, jednačenje jata i šva te postojanje različitih odraza za ishodišno duge i naknadno produžene samoglasnike. Iz konsonantizma izdvajamo nekoliko specifičnosti: izostanak velara x, prisutnost palatalnoga spiranta ś te para afrikata č i ć. Izdvojene značajke povezuju ga s jedne strane s nizom kajkavskih govora širega pojasa južno od Zagreba, te s druge strane s obližnjim govorima plješivičko-ozaljskoga tipa sa sličnim (ili istim) konsonantskim obilježjima.
Gorski kotar prepoznat je u hrvatskoj dijalektološkoj literaturi već pri prvim istraživanjima kao tronarječno područje, a kao eklatantan primjer jezične raznolikosti nerijetko je istican mjesni govor ...Staroga Laza. Upravo nas je uvriježeno mišljenje o Starome Lazu kao punktu svih triju narječja nagnalo na ovo istraživanje.
Govor Staroga Laza spominjan je dosad samo u kontekstu skupine čakavskih govora u Gorskome kotaru, a rezultati su tih pojedinih istraživanja pokazali da se u sredini sela govori najviše čakavskim ikavsko-ekavskim govorom „slavičkoga tipa”, tj. primorskim poddijalektom navedena dijalekta. Taj se čakavski idiom nadovezuje na primorski krak ikavsko-ekavskih čakavskih govora od Zlobina preko Benkovca Fužinskog, Slemena, Slavice i Brestove Drage spajajući se s kontinentalnim poddijalektom ikavsko-ekavskoga dijalekta u Jablanu, Presiki i Vrbovskom. Na istočnoj strani sela, prema Ravnoj Gori, starolaški je govor kajkavski, bliži ravnogorskomu, koji pripada zapadnomu poddijalektu kajkavskoga goranskog dijalekta, a na zapadnoj je strani sela u susjedstvu štokavskih mjesta Općine Mrkopalj bliži novoštokavskomu ikavskom govoru, kakav je u Mrkoplju.
O tome je dosad malo pisano, kao i o većini goranskih čakavaca, što nas je dodatno potaknulo na ispitivanje izvornih starolaških govornika. Ovim se istraživanjem nastoji potvrditi ili opovrgnuti teza o starolaškoj tronarječnosti, tj. analizom prikupljene građe u radu se podastire suvremenija dijalektna slika toga područja.

Here, we demonstrate the computation of a selection of meson and baryon masses on two QCD and five QCD+QED gauge ensembles in this setup, which preserves locality, gauge and translational invariance all through the calculation. The generation of the gauge ensembles is performed for two volumes, and three different values of the renormalized fine-structure constant at the U-symmetric point, corresponding to the SU(3)-symmetric QCD in the two ensembles where the electromagnetic coupling is turned off. We also present our tuning strategy and, to the extent possible, a cost analysis of the simulations with C

We propose a two-dimensional hard-core loop-gas model as a way to regularize the asymptotically free massive continuum quantum field theory that emerges at the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless ...transition. Without fine-tuning, our model can reproduce the universal step-scaling function of the classical lattice XY model in the massive phase as we approach the phase transition. This is achieved by lowering the fugacity of Fock-vacuum sites in the loop-gas configuration space to zero in the thermodynamic limit. Some of the universal quantities at the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition show smaller finite size effects in our model as compared to the traditional XY model. Our model is a prime example of qubit regularization of an asymptotically free massive quantum field theory in Euclidean space-time and helps understand how asymptotic freedom can arise as a relevant perturbation at a decoupled fixed point without fine-tuning.
Tavis-Cummings (TC) cavity quantum electrodynamical effects, describing the interaction of N atoms with an optical resonator, are at the core of atomic, optical and solid state physics. The full ...numerical simulation of TC dynamics scales exponentially with the number of atoms. By restricting the open quantum system to a single excitation, typical of experimental realizations in quantum optics, we analytically solve the TC model with an arbitrary number of atoms with linear complexity. This solution allows us to devise the Quantum Mapping Algorithm of Resonator Interaction with N Atoms (Q-MARINA), an intuitive TC mapping to a quantum circuit with linear space and time scaling, whose N+1 qubits represent atoms and a lossy cavity, while the dynamics is encoded through 2N entangling gates. Finally, we benchmark the robustness of the algorithm on a quantum simulator and superconducting quantum processors against the quantum master equation solution on a classical computer.
