In this paper we propose a new parallel architecture based on Big Data technologies for real-time sentiment analysis on microblogging posts. Polypus is a modular framework that provides the following ...functionalities: (1) massive text extraction from Twitter, (2) distributed non-relational storage optimized for time range queries, (3) memory-based intermodule buffering, (4) real-time sentiment classification, (5) near real-time keyword sentiment aggregation in time series, (6) a HTTP API to interact with the Polypus cluster and (7) a web interface to analyze results visually. The whole architecture is self-deployable and based on Docker containers.
This paper presents LinguaKit, a multilingual suite of tools for analysis, extraction, annotation and linguistic correction, as well as its integration into a Big Data infrastructure. LinguaKit ...allows the user to perform different tasks such as PoS-tagging, syntactic parsing, coreference resolution (among others), including applications for relation extraction, sentiment analysis, summarization, extraction of multiword expressions, or entity linking to DBpedia. Most modules work in four languages: Portuguese, Spanish, English, and Galician. The system is programmed in Perl and is freely available under a GPLv3 license.

In the surroundings of the Los Barrios de Luna area (León province, NW Spain), a very complete succession of Palaeozoic sedimentary rocks crops out. This geological series constitutes a historical ...reference for the study of geology in the Cantabrian Zone, and contains elements (diverse lithologies, fossils and sedimentary structures) which make it a magnificent "classroom" for demonstrating various aspects of fieldwork in Geology. The value of part of this geological series, comprising four Cambrian and Ordovician formations, is reflected in the recent design and implementation of a guided tour, the installation of an information board on the site, and the production of an explanatory leaflet.
En los alrededores de la localidad de Los Barrios de Luna (provincia de León, NW de España) aflora una sucesión muy completa de rocas sedimentarias de edad paleozoica. Esta serie geológica constituye un referente histórico para el estudio de la geología de la Zona Cantábrica y contiene elementos (diversas litologías, fósiles y estructuras sedimentarias) que hacen de ella una magnífica escuela para mostrar algunos aspectos del trabajo en Geología. Recientemente, una parte de esta serie geológica, constituida por cuatro formaciones de edad Cámbrico y Ordovícico, ha sido puesta en valor mediante el diseño y realización de una ruta guiada, un panel de sitio y un folleto explicativo.
ObjectiveTo determine the incidence and clinical predictors of invasive bacterial infection (IBI) in well-appearing children who present to the emergency department (ED) with fever and ...petechiae.DesignA prospective, observational, multicentre study was conducted in 18 hospitals between November 2017 and October 2019.PatientsA total of 688 patients were recruited.Main outcome measuresThe primary outcome was the presence of IBI. Clinical features and laboratory test results were described and related to the presence of IBI.ResultsTen IBIs were found (1.5%), comprising eight cases of meningococcal disease and two of occult pneumococcal bacteraemia. Median age was 26.2 months (IQR 15.3–51.2). Blood samples were obtained from 575 patients (83.3%). Patients with an IBI had a shorter time from fever to ED visit (13.5 hours vs 24 hours) and between fever and rash onset (3.5 hours vs 24 hours). Values for absolute leucocyte count, total neutrophil count, C reactive protein and procalcitonin were significantly higher in patients with an IBI. Significantly fewer patients with a favourable clinical status while in the observation unit were found to have an IBI (2/408 patients, 0.5%) than when clinical status was unfavourable (3/18, 16.7%).ConclusionsThe incidence of IBI among children with fever and petechial rash is lower than previously reported (1.5%). The time from fever to ED visit and to rash onset was shorter in patients with an IBI. Patients with a favourable clinical course during observation in the ED are at lower risk of IBI.
La hemodiálisis es un tratamiento con gran impacto en el medio ambiente. Un ciclo de diálisis equivale al consumo diario 3,5-4 personas y el consumo anual medio de electricidad de un centro se ...equipara al de aproximadamente 2,5 a 3 hogares (9 kWh/día por hogar). La huella de carbono (kg CO2 equivalente) es la medida de las emisiones directas e indirectas de gases de efecto invernadero y está influida por la producción de los distintos materiales utilizados y el transporte de estos, de los pacientes y el personal sanitario. En este contexto se hace necesario conocer el impacto real de cada centro en el mediomabiente y actuar de una manera sostenible. El objetivo de esta revisión es analizar la huella medioambiental que genera la diálisis, repensar los procesos y plantear estrategias de gestión con el fin de aportar herramientas aplicables a cualquier unidad para reducir el impacto negativo de esta actividad. Cada centro debe medir y hacer seguimiento de indicadores, fijar su estándar, diseñar planes de mejora y realizar seguimiento anual de manera multidiciplinar.
Hemodialysis is a treatment with a significant environmental impact. One dialysis cycle is equivalent to the daily consumption of 3.5-4 people, and the average annual electricity consumption of a center is equivalent to that of approximately 2.5 to 3 households (9 kWh/day per household). The carbon footprint (kg CO2 equivalent) measures direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions and is influenced by the production of the various materials used, their transport, patients, and healthcare personnel. In this context, it is necessary to understand the real impact of each center on the environment and act sustainably. The aim of this review is to analyze the environmental footprint generated by dialysis, rethink processes, and propose management strategies to provide tools applicable to any unit to reduce the negative impact of this activity. Each center must measure and monitor indicators, set its own standards, design improvement plans, and carry out annual monitoring in a multidisciplinary manner.
RESUMEN Introducción y objetivos: Existe un creciente interés en el desarrollo de dispositivos para el tratamiento de la insuficiencia mitral (IM) de forma mínimamente invasiva. Para este propósito, ...disponer de un modelo experimental que reproduzca las condiciones de la enfermedad sería de gran utilidad. Nuestro objetivo fue validar un modelo experimental de IM en cerdos. Métodos: Para esta fase de creación del modelo se han utilizado 3 cerdos de raza large white, de 2 meses de edad y un peso de 25 ± 3 kg. Se provocó un infarto en el territorio de la arteria circunfleja que afectó la perfusión del músculo papilar posteromedial, y posteriormente se sometió al animal a una sobrecarga de volumen mediante creación de un shunt arteriovenoso, con la conexión de la aorta y la pulmonar mediante un tubo de dacrón. Se realizó análisis mediante ecocardiografía y resonancia magnética antes de la intervención y a las 8 semanas, y posteriormente el animal fue eutanasiado para realizar el estudio anatomopatológico. Resultados: De los 3 cerdos, 1 falleció durante la intervención por fibrilación ventricular y los otros 2 sobrevivieron al procedimiento y fueron eutanasiados como estaba previsto a las 8 semanas.
