Every year, more and more foreign students are enrolled at the Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies in Prešov of the Technical University in Kosice. For this reason, Slovak Language for Foreign ...Students was introduced as a compulsory subject in the 1st year of bachelor’s study. The purpose of the paper was to emphasize the teaching of Slovak as a foreign language and thus help to overcome the problems of foreign students in studying professional subjects. The aim is to provide them with suitable tailor-made study material within the blended form of teaching. Slovak language teachers at the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities used mixed innovative methods and forms of study and tried to increase the language and communication skills of students. The paper compares the results of e-exercises and the final e-test of 140 foreign students from different study programmes in the first year of their bachelor study in the winter semester 2021. Slovak language teachers were able to identify students’ strengths and weaknesses based on the results of experimental research. Elimination of the most frequent mistakes will help students to increase the level of technical Slovak language, which they can apply during the study of professional subjects and in future practice in Slovak companies. The university-wide Moodle platform was used for blended learning in teaching Slovak as a foreign language at the Faculty.
The purpose of the paper is to point out the possibilities of teaching and learning Slovak as a foreign language. The course Slovak as a foreign language allowed foreign students to overcome problems ...while studying professional subjects in manufacturing technologies. The goal was the creation of suitable professional study material tailored for technical specialization students. Slovak language teachers used mixed methods and forms of study (face-to-face and online). They tried to improve the Slovak language communication skills of manufacturing technologies students. The results of e-exercises and the final e-test of 120 foreign students in the 1st year of bachelor's studies in the summer semester of 2022 were compared. Later the strengths and weaknesses of students were found. The level of professional Slovak terminology was improved by eliminating the most common mistakes. The Moodle platform was used for learning and teaching Slovak as a foreign language as well as Slovak professional terminology.
The pandemic situation in Slovakia has shown that e-learning teaching within educational institutions has not received sufficient attention so far. The purpose of the paper is to stress the ...importance of e-learning application in foreign language teaching as well as show the possibilities of creating new educational portals for university students using professional foreign language texts. The KEGA project “Innovative Methods and Forms of Education for Needs and Development of Language and Communication Skills within Technical Professional Foreign Language Study Material” is still ongoing at the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities. The aim is to emphasize the importance of foreign language training for future engineers, and at the same time to look for modern and innovative mixed methods of education, which includes the use of e-learning. The paper compares the study results of more than 200 students in different study programmes at the Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies in Prešov Technical University of Košice achieved during the academic year 2020/2021. The research findings prove that the experimental group of students from different study programmes achieved the best study results in those manufacturing technologies e-tests which are closely connected with their study programme. The results confirm that English teaching focused on tailor-made professional texts and topics within the engineering levels of studies was effective. Teachers also identified the strengths and weaknesses of students within tasks to practice language competencies. By applying e-tests students were able to improve their language skills, which can be practised in selected foreign companies or in their future careers as engineers, technicians, managers or computer programmers.

The aim of the research was to find out whether the specification of the e-tests has an impact on the success of bachelor students at the Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies Technical University of Košice within the online assessment. The achieved results of 82 students in different study programmes in winter semester 2021 were compared. The research proved that the experimental group of students achieved the best results in those progressive manufacturing technologies e-tests which were closely to their study programme.
The research aimed to point out the effective use of ICT in foreign language teaching and learning by engineers. The problem with the evaluation of students during their studies or at the end of the ...academic year arose when the Technical University of Košice was forced to switch to a distance form of education. The experiment took place in the winter semester of 2021/2022 within the compulsory English Language in Technical Practice course. Mixed methods were used to compare the results of e-tests within the four study programmes - Automotive Production Technologies, Computer-Aided Manufacturing Technologies, Industrial Management and Intelligent Technologies in Industry. The research employed both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research design involved collecting data using online tests completed by students and sent to the teacher. A quantitative method was conducted to evaluate the students’ online tests. The qualitative research method allowed for the analysis and interpretation of data from the experimental testing. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that different types of Moodle tasks can be successfully applied to e-testing as part of English course assessment at the university level. The study aimed to determine the level of language skills of the 80 first-year engineering students at the Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies in Prešov Technical University of Košice who participated in the experiment. The university-wide learning management system, the Moodle platform, was used during the study and in the final online tests. The results of the e-tests revealed the level of language skills, and teachers were able to identify the weaknesses and strengths in teaching professional study material. The hypothesis concerning language skills was confirmed. The best evaluation was achieved by 43 students (53.8%) in reading professional texts with understanding, and only 21 students (26.3%) were successful in grammar. It was emphasized that reading comprehension is an integral and inseparable part of the teaching process at the Technical University. The correct understanding of the professional text has a huge benefit and significance in their practice and future professions.
The author of the paper deals with teachers’ professional ethics and the current theoretical and practical implementation. She stresses the need for an ethics of teaching to be included in the ...theoretical and practical training of future teachers. She discusses ethics theories by Slovak and other authors and demonstrates the extent to which they are applied in practice. The author considers that an ethics of teaching should be a tool of the professional and moral practice of each teacher. The current situation in the Slovak educational system is rather unfavourable, and there is often a contradiction between the theoretical knowledge and its practical implementation in the everyday work of the teacher.

The article demonstrates application of distance learning in foreign language teaching at the Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies in Presov. The study of a foreign language is very closely ...connected with professional subjects. There is a close connection with many engineering disciplines within all study programs. The method of distance learning is an important part of the modern education. The implementation of blended learning to the study process is needed for the newly accredited study programs at the Faculty. The article presented innovative methods and forms of education for needs and development of language and communication skills within technical professional foreign language study material. The paper deals with face-to-face and e-learning forms of study. The study material is obtained on the Moodle platform and it is accessible to all students of bachelor and engineering manufacturing technologies studies within individual professional texts. The presented e-learning course is an innovative tool which provides study of professional technical educational material in the form of independent work with a computer. This form of study also regulates the interaction of students with a teacher. Presented online collaboration contributes to the improvement of the efficiency of foreign language knowledge formation through the introduction of upgraded teaching professional educational study materials; stimulates interest in the study of foreign languages using innovative information and communication technologies; responsiveness of the feedback and the possibility of direct consultation with the teacher in the educational environment of the Moodle platform. I note that foreign language skills and the ability to communicate in a foreign language create a kind of "added value" for each individual, increasing their self-confidence even professionally. At present, knowledge of one foreign language is often not sufficient for employers. The trend and the reality is that many positions will welcome if the new candidate for the offered position also speaks two foreign languages. It is a priority of education, culture, communication possibilities and communication in a foreign language environment. Modernization and innovativeness in the education process should be an essential objective of current higher education institutions.
