Epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) is a rare autosomal recessive genodermatosis characterized by an impairment of cellular immunity. It clinically manifests as widespread, long-lasting, pityriasis ...versicolor-like macules and flat, wart-like papules, usually occurring in early childhood. There is a risk of development of multiple skin cancers in the third decade, primarily in sun-exposed skin. EV-associated human papillomaviruses have been implicated in a number of cutaneous lesions in non-EV populations, such as seborrheic keratoses or psoriasis. They have also been implicated in the development of nonmelanoma skin cancer, especially in immunosuppressed patients. Patients affected with EV are not able to eliminate oncogenic viruses within lesions, leading to a malignant transformation.
To describe the dermoscopic characteristics of EV cutaneous tumors by performing histopathologic correlation.
Cutaneous lesions and tumors from two patients affected by EV were included. Clinical and dermoscopic images were obtained and excision with ulterior histopathology was performed in all suspicious tumors and characteristic lesions.
Dermoscopy and histology of pityiriasis versicolor-like macules, wart-like papules, seborrheic keratosis-like tumors, psoriasis-like plaques, collision tumors, and Bowen in situ carcinoma are described.
Dermoscopy in EV tumors correlated with histopathologic findings and improved the differential diagnosis of tumors in this disease.

An unusual case of chronic dypshagia associated with impaired quality of life in a 73-years old patient with past medical history of tongue squamous cell carcinoma. Prior esophagogastroduodenoscopy ...(EGD) with formalin-fixed biopsies has demonstrated inespecific findings. A few months later, new EGD was performed and esophageal stricture with sloughed mucosa was shown. With formaline and fresh biopsies was made the diagnosis of esophageal lichen planus. With medical treatment and dilations the patient had a good outcome. This is an underdiagnostic disease that has been associated with squamous cell carcinoma and impair quality of life due to the dysphagia. Immunohistochemistry can be useful for diagnosis and fresh biopsies should be considered to increase diagnostic sensitivity.
Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome is a rare but severe drug hypersensitivity reaction with potentially life-threatening consequences. It is characterised by ...fever, extensive maculopapular exanthema, lymph node enlargement, abnormal blood cell counts, and organ-related complications. Diagnosis can be challenging due to incomplete or non-specific symptoms, and it can sometimes manifest as a purely systemic disease. Discontinuation of the causative drug is essential. Treatment may involve corticosteroids and supportive care. Genetic screening for specific markers, such as human leucocyte antigen (HLA)-A*68, A11:01, and A29:02, can help identify individuals at risk for severe reactions to benznidazole, a drug used to treat Chagas disease. This case report describes the rarity and severity of DRESS syndrome, underscoring the potential benefit of genetic screening to prevent adverse reactions in patients with Chagas disease.

This is a cross-sectional analysis of baseline data from 2189 Caucasian men and women (age 55-75 years, BMI 27-40 Kg/m
) from the PREDIMED-Plus study (http://www.predimedplus.com/). All participants had ≥3 components of the metabolic syndrome. Inactive time, physical activity and time in bed were objectively determined using triaxial accelerometers GENEActiv during 7 days (ActivInsights Ltd., Kimbolton, United Kingdom). Multiple adjusted linear and logistic regression models were used. Isotemporal substitution regression modelling was performed to assess the relationship of replacing the amount of time spent in one activity for another, on each outcome, including measures of adiposity and body composition, biochemical parameters and blood pressure in older adults.
Inactive time was associated with indicators of obesity and the metabolic syndrome. Reallocating 30 min per day of inactive time to 30 min per day of time in bed was associated with lower BMI, waist circumference and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) (all p-values < 0.05). Reallocating 30 min per day of inactive time with 30 min per day of LPA or MVPA was associated with lower BMI, waist circumference, total fat, visceral adipose tissue, HbA1c, glucose, triglycerides, and higher body muscle mass and HDL cholesterol (all p-values < 0.05).
Inactive time was associated with a poor cardio-metabolic profile. Isotemporal substitution of inactive time with MVPA and LPA or time in bed could have beneficial impact on cardio-metabolic health.
