Enteroviruses (EVs) and Hepatitis A Viruses (HAVs) are human pathogens with a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations. The monitoring of sewage samples enables to monitor the EVs and HAVs in ...circulation among the general population and recognize possible outbreaks. This study focused on the molecular characterization and phylogenetic analysis of the EVs and HAVs identified in 33 sewage samples collected every 15 days at the influent of a wastewater treatment plant located in Northern Italy from March to October 2016. According to the results of the molecular characterization, the most frequently identified viruses were Echovirus 6 (E-6), E-11 and HAV-IA. The phylogenetic analyses indicated the rapid genetic evolution of E-6 and E-1; noteworthy, most E-11 strains clustered with a strain isolated from a clinical sample collected in the same geographical area over the same period by our laboratory. Most of the HAV strains detected clustered with epidemic HAV-IA strains identified during the European hepatitis A outbreak that occurred in 2016–2017 affecting men who have sex with men (MSM). The detection of environmental HAV strains before and at the beginning of its spread amongst humans demonstrated that this outbreak could have been predicted by monitoring sewage samples. Moreover, conducting a genetic comparison between the HAV and EV strains identified in sewage and clinical samples may improve knowledge of viral epidemiology. EV and HAV molecular environmental surveillance may prove useful for identifying viral circulation and for issuing early warning alerts on possible outbreaks among the human population.
When choosing the technology options to develop a wireless sensor network (WSN), it is vital that their performance levels can be assessed for the type of application intended. This book describes ...the different technology options (MAC protocols, routing protocols, localization and data fusion techniques) and provides the means to numerically measure their performance, whether by simulation, mathematical models or experimental test beds. Case studies, based on the authors’ direct experience of implementing wireless sensor networks, describe the design methodology and the type of measurements used, together with samples of the performance measurements attained. Communications and signal processing engineers, researchers and graduate students working in wireless sensor networks will find this book an invaluable practical guide to this important technology.

This study is a quantitative content analysis of activist groups' use of dialogic tools on Web sites. The study was done in order to understand how activist groups use the Web to communicate with ...their publics in comparison to for-profit corporations. The Web is considered a powerful tool for activists and allows them to communicate better with their publics. Use of the Web should allow activist groups to level the field with corporations by enabling them to get their message out and interact better with their public. Dialogic communication is a necessity for activist groups. By measuring the use of dialogic communication by activists in comparison with corporations, this study uncovers how well activist groups are using the World Wide Web for purposes of dialogic communication with their publics.

The objective of this research is to analyze the narratives of ex-workers of BANESPA - Banco do Estado de Sao Paulo, today Santander, which has undergone significant adjustments, especially in the 1990s and triggered major impacts on objectivity and subjectivity of its workers. These impacts directly affected the health of these workers with the onset of many pathologies to the work. These are measures that reflect the changes in L.O (Labor Organization) are related to these pathologies. We use categories such as bank restructuring, job precariousness, captures the subjectivity, financial mainstream economy, among others by reference to the restructuring of banking work, this research analyzes data from bibliographic, documentary and empirical data (interviews) as the OT directly impacted the health, particularly of bank Banespa. It started from the hypothesis that L.O bank and its new forms of subjectivity, or Arrest of subjectivity, established a new link in the psychophysical-banking work, meeting the changing needs of accumulation, but doing so at the expense of a significant lowering of the health of these workers. In conclusion, we note that the L.O work organization is a major focus of onset of illness between banks.
Design challenges refer to a difficulty of corresponding human and contextual complexity (i.e. needs, roles, and resources) in design practices. Such an issue calls for combining deep investigations ...with relevant design experiences. We propose a workshop for disentangling and discussing design practices by adopting the Theatre of the Oppressed techniques. These techniques allow enacting personal performances as well as the construction of a shared narrative about the participants' roles, needs, and resources. By this workshop, we aim to improve the participants' competence in understanding people's needs and developing a design solution accordingly. Finally, possible outcomes are: a special issue of an international peer reviewed journal, and/or a live performance that the conference attendees can enjoy as an experiential design occasion.
Poly ADP-ribose polymerases (PARP) are key proteins involved in DNA repair, maintenance as well as regulation of programmed cell death. For this reason they are important therapeutic targets for ...cancer treatment. Recent studies have revealed a close interplay between PARP1 recruitment and G-quadruplex stabilization, showing that PARP enzymes are activated upon treatment with a G4 ligand. In this work the DNA binding properties of a PARP-1 inhibitor derived from 7-azaindole-1-carboxamide, (2-6-(4-pyrrolidin-1-ylmethyl-phenyl)-pyrrolo2,3-bpyridin-1-yl-acetamide, compound 1) with model duplex and quadruplex DNA oligomers were studied by NMR, CD, fluorescence and molecular modelling. We provide evidence that compound 1 is a strong G-quadruplex binder. In addition we provide molecular details of the interaction of compound 1 with two model G-quadruplex structures: the single repeat of human telomeres, d(TTAGGGT)
, and the c-MYC promoter Pu22 sequence. The formation of defined and strong complexes with G-quadruplex models suggests a dual G4 stabilization/PARP inhibition mechanism of action for compound 1 and provides the molecular bases of its therapeutic potential.
