EBSCOhost sells subscriptions to five different versions of the CINAHL database. On its CINAHL web pages, EBSCOhost provides a link to a chart which shows differences among these products in terms of ...numbers of journals indexed and numbers of journals in full text. This chart does not, however, address the quality of journals within each of the versions of the database. This article compares indexing and full text coverage of core Nursing and Allied Health journals among the five versions of CINAHL. For core nursing journals, the most current NAHRS list was consulted. For core allied health journals, the 1996 Brandon Hill list was consulted. In addition to these resources, Web of Science titles for each field were also used. Most core nursing journals were indexed in all versions of CINAHL while full text coverage varied significantly. In contrast, core allied health journals were significantly better covered in some versions of CINAHL than in others, in both indexing and full text coverage. However, core allied health journals were overall less well-covered than core nursing titles.
Literature on telehealth care delivery often addresses clinical, cost, technological, system, and organizational impacts. Less is known about interpersonal behaviors such as communication patterns ...and therapeutic relationship-building, which may have workforce development considerations. The purpose of this study was to conduct a systematic literature review to identify interpersonal health care provider (HCP) behaviors and attributes related to provider–patient interaction during care in telehealth delivery. Electronic searches were conducted using five indexes/databases: CINAHL, ERIC, PsychInfo, ProQuest Dissertations, PubMed; with hand-searching of the immediate past 10 years of five journals. Search concepts included: communication, telehealth, education, and health care delivery. Of 5261 unique article abstracts initially identified, 338 full-text articles remained after exclusion criteria were applied and these were reviewed for eligibility. Finally, data were extracted from 45 articles. Through qualitative synthesis of the 45 articles, we noted that papers encompassed many disciplines and targeted care to people in many settings including: home care, primary and specialist care, mental health/counseling, and multi-site teams. Interpersonal behaviors were observed though not manipulated through study designs. Six themes were identified: HCP-based support for telehealth delivery; provider–patient interactions during the telehealth event; environmental attributes; and guidelines for education interventions or evaluation of HCP behaviors. Although unable to identify current best practices, important considerations for practice and education did emerge. These include: perceptions of the utility of telehealth; differences in communication patterns such as pace and type of discourse, reliance on visual cues by both provider and patient especially in communicating empathy and building rapport; and confidentiality and privacy in telehealth care delivery.
Beginning in 2012 and continuing to the present day, the ALCTS/ALA administers a national survey to collect preservation statistics. When the survey began, it included something unique in library ...history -- that is several questions that illuminated the intersection of disasters and preservation activities. Unfortunately, due to concerns about the length of the survey, questions about that topic were dropped after 2013. This means our field has information about said intersection for only two years. Furthermore, because the reports about these surveys focused on broader issues of preservation, the reports did not fully explore the findings of those years. This article returns to the data sets for the 2012 and 2013 ALCTS/ALA Preservation surveys to more fully explore their findings and to discuss their implications.

The Joint Commission issued a Sentinel Event Alert in August 2011 to address the radiation risks related to diagnostic medical imaging. The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and Nebraska ...Coalition for Patient Safety (NCPS) sent a survey to Nebraska hospital radiology departments in May 2012 to solicit responses regarding radiation safety management practices. Survey results demonstrate that Nebraska hospitals perform well in many radiation safety efforts, but lack in others, as well as the need for additional research to track or compare progress. Nebraska's experience can serve as a model for other states to perform similar radiation safety management research.
This dissertation inquires into the phenomenon that formal graduate education course work influences the role transition of clinical practice nurse experts to novice nurse educators. Throughout this ...research study, the following research questions were addressed: What are the steps (or processes) that novice nurse educators utilize in the creation of didactic course materials? How does expertise in clinical practice skills influence the expert nurse clinician in the creation of course content as a novice nurse educator? What are the teaching/learning strategies that the novice nurse educators implement into their didactic content design? Semi-structured interviews of eleven novice nurse educators were conducted. Participants were obtained nationally from public, private, rural and urban universities. Data collection occurred through demographic inquiry and semi-structured interviews. Using van Manen's (1997) approach to human science research, all interviews were analyzed using the hermeneutic phenomenological approach. The analysis and interpretation of data revealed one overarching pattern, "Bridging the Gap Between Clinical Practice and Academia" and the consolidation of the above themes into the following, (1) "How Does One Become an Educator?", (2) "Planning and Processing" and (3) "Implementing Effective Teaching Strategies." Each of the themes was supported in the review of literature and indicate a need for further attention in practice, research and policy.
Background: Finger and hand prints are formed during the late first and second trimester of foetal development, after which they remain unchanged. Their expression may be influenced by both genetic ...and environmental factors. Some studies have suggested that a reduced total finger ridge count (TFRC) and, in particular, a reduce total a–b ridge count (TABRC), may be associated with schizophrenia.
Aim: To study these two variables in a large, ethnically homogenous sample and to compare our findings with those of other recent studies.
Method: Finger and hand prints of 150 people with DSM-III-R schizophrenia were compared with those of 92 healthy controls.
Results: Patients had a reduced mean TABRC (
P=0.03) compared with controls. There was a significant (
P=0.02) linear trend for lower TABRC and increasing incidence of schizophrenia

, implying a continuous increase in the risk for schizophrenia with reduction in TABRC. No significant difference between groups was observed for TFRC.
Conclusion: These results provide further evidence that dermatoglyphic abnormalities exist in at least some patients with schizophrenia and that the a–b ridge count may be a marker of disruption, probably environmental, that occurs when the developing brain may also be particularly vulnerable to such insult. These findings support the concept that some cases of schizophrenia may be due to adverse intrauterine events.
