Genera of Phytopathogenic Fungi (GOPHY) is introduced as a new series of publications in order to provide a stable platform for the taxonomy of phytopathogenic fungi. This first paper focuses on 21 ...genera of phytopathogenic fungi: Bipolaris, Boeremia, Calonectria, Ceratocystis, Cladosporium, Colletotrichum, Coniella, Curvularia, Monilinia, Neofabraea, Neofusicoccum, Pilidium, Pleiochaeta, Plenodomus, Protostegia, Pseudopyricularia, Puccinia, Saccharata, Thyrostroma, Venturia and Wilsonomyces. For each genus, a morphological description and information about its pathology, distribution, hosts and disease symptoms are provided. In addition, this information is linked to primary and secondary DNA barcodes of the presently accepted species, and relevant literature. Moreover, several novelties are introduced, i.e. new genera, species and combinations, and neo-, lecto- and epitypes designated to provide a stable taxonomy. This first paper includes one new genus, 26 new species, ten new combinations, and four typifications of older names.

Puccinia psidii has long been considered a significant threat to Australian plant industries and ecosystems. In April 2010, P. psidii was detected for the first time in Australia on the central coast ...of New South Wales (NSW). The fungus spread rapidly along the east coast and in December 2010 was found in Queensland (Qld) followed by Victoria a year later. Puccinia psidii was initially restricted to the southeastern part of Qld but spread as far north as Mossman. In Qld, 48 species of Myrtaceae are considered highly or extremely susceptible to the disease. The impact of P. psidii on individual trees and shrubs has ranged from minor leaf spots, foliage, stem and branch dieback to reduced fecundity. Tree death, as a result of repeated infection, has been recorded for Rhodomyrtus psidioides. Rust infection has also been recorded on flower buds, flowers and fruits of 28 host species. Morphological and molecular characteristics were used to confirm the identification of P. psidii from a range of Myrtaceae in Qld and compared with isolates from NSW and overseas. A reconstructed phylogeny based on the LSU and SSU regions of rDNA did not resolve the familial placement of P. psidii, but indicated that it does not belong to the Pucciniaceae. Uredo rangelii was found to be con‐specific with all isolates of P. psidii in morphology, ITS and LSU sequence data, and host range.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSEAlthough reperfusion is associated with improved outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke undergoing endovascular treatment, many patients still do poorly. We ...investigated whether CTP modifies the effect of near-complete reperfusion on clinical outcomes, ie, whether poor clinical outcomes despite near-complete reperfusion can be partly or fully explained by CTP findings. MATERIALS AND METHODSData are from the Safety and Efficacy of Nerinetide in Subjects Undergoing Endovascular Thrombectomy for Stroke (ESCAPE-NA1) trial. Admission CTP was processed using RAPID software, generating relative CBF and CBV volume maps at standard thresholds. CTP lesion volumes were compared in patients with-versus-without near-complete reperfusion. Associations between each CTP metric and clinical outcome (90-day mRS) were tested using multivariable logistic regression, adjusted for baseline imaging and clinical variables. Treatment-effect modification was assessed by introducing CTP lesion volume × reperfusion interaction terms in the models. RESULTSCTP lesion volumes and reperfusion status were available in 410/1105 patients. CTP lesion volumes were overall larger in patients without near-complete reperfusion, albeit not always statistically significant. Increased CBF <34%, CBV <34%, CBV <38%, and CBV <42% lesion volumes were associated with worse clinical outcome (ordinal mRS) at 90 days. CTP core lesion volumes did not modify the treatment effect of near-complete recanalization on clinical outcome. CONCLUSIONSCTP did not modify the effect of near-complete reperfusion on clinical outcomes. Thus, CTP cannot explain why some patients with near-complete reperfusion have poor clinical outcomes.
A database of 15,617 point measurements of dimethylsulfide (DMS) in surface waters along with lesser amounts of data for aqueous and particulate dimethylsulfoniopropionate concentration, chlorophyll ...concentration, sea surface salinity and temperature, and wind speed has been assembled. The database was processed to create a series of climatological annual and monthly 1°×1° latitude‐longitude squares of data. The results were compared to published fields of geophysical and biological parameters. No significant correlation was found between DMS and these parameters, and no simple algorithm could be found to create monthly fields of sea surface DMS concentration based on these parameters. Instead, an annual map of sea surface DMS was produced using an algorithm similar to that employed by Conkright et al. 1994. In this approach, a first‐guess field of DMS sea surface concentration measurements is created and then a correction to this field is generated based on actual measurements. Monthly sea surface grids of DMS were obtained using a similar scheme, but the sparsity of DMS measurements made the method difficult to implement. A scheme was used which projected actual data into months of the year where no data were otherwise present.

We used data from a prospective multicenter observational study in which all patients underwent imaging with multiphase CT angiography as well as CTP. Two blinded reviewers evaluated patients' eligibility for endovascular thrombectomy using published collateral imaging (multiphase CTA) criteria compared with CTP using the selection criteria of the Clinical Mismatch in the Triage of Wake Up and Late Presenting Strokes Undergoing Neurointervention with Trevo (DAWN) and Endovascular Therapy Following Imaging Evaluation for Ischemic Stroke 3 (DEFUSE-3) trials. CTP images were processed using automated commercial software. The outcomes of patients eligible for endovascular thrombectomy according to multiphase CTA, DAWN, or DEFUSE-3 criteria were compared using multivariable logistic regression modeling. Model characteristics were compared using the C-statistic for the receiver operating characteristic curve, the Akaike information criterion, and the Bayesian information criterion.
Eighty-six patients presented beyond 6 hours from onset/last known well (median, 9.6 hours; interquartile range, 4.1 hours). Thirty-five patients (40.7%) received endovascular thrombectomy, of whom good functional outcome (90-day mRS, 0-2) was achieved in 16/35 (47%). Collateral-based imaging paradigms significantly modified the treatment effect of endovascular thrombectomy on 90-day mRS 0-2 (
= .007). The multiphase CTA-based regression model best fit the data for the 90-day outcome (C-statistic, 0.86; 95% CI, 0.77-0.94) and was associated with the least information loss (Akaike information criterion, 95.7; Bayesian information criterion, 114.9) compared with CTP-based models.
The collateral-based imaging paradigm using multiphase CTA compares well with CTP in selecting patients for endovascular thrombectomy in the late time window.

The Fusarium oxysporum species complex (FOSC) is a group of closely related plant pathogens long-considered strictly clonal, as sexual stages have never been recorded. Several studies have questioned ...whether recombination occurs in FOSC, and if it occurs its nature and frequency are unknown. We analysed 410 assembled genomes to answer whether FOSC diversified by occasional sexual reproduction interspersed with numerous cycles of asexual reproduction akin to a model of predominant clonal evolution (PCE). We tested the hypothesis that sexual reproduction occurred in the evolutionary history of FOSC by examining the distribution of idiomorphs at the mating locus, phylogenetic conflict and independent measures of recombination from genome-wide SNPs and genes. A phylogenomic dataset of 40 single copy orthologs was used to define structure a priori within FOSC based on genealogical concordance. Recombination within FOSC was tested using the pairwise homoplasy index and divergence ages were estimated by molecular dating. We called SNPs from assembled genomes using a k-mer approach and tested for significant linkage disequilibrium as an indication of PCE. We clone-corrected and tested whether SNPs were randomly associated as an indication of recombination. Our analyses provide evidence for sexual or parasexual reproduction within, but not between, clades of FOSC that diversified from a most recent common ancestor about 500 000 years ago. There was no evidence of substructure based on geography or host that might indicate how clades diversified. Competing evolutionary hypotheses for FOSC are discussed in the context of our results.
