To analyze the diagnostic value of color Doppler imaging (CDI) of blood flow in the retrobulbar vessels of eyes with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).
Pertinent publications were retrieved from the ...Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, PubMed and the ISI Web of Knowledge up to October 2012. Changes in peak systolic velocity (PSV), end diastolic velocity (EDV) and resistive index (RI) of the ophthalmic artery (OA), central retinal artery (CRA) and short posterior ciliary artery (SPCA) of POAG eyes and normal controls were evaluated by CDI. Subgroup analyses were conducted according to whether patients received IOP-lowering drugs treatment and were defined as treated and untreated.
PSV and EDV were statistically significantly reduced in the OA of POAG eyes (P = 0.0002; P<0.00001; respectively), with significant heterogeneity (P(heterogeneity)<0.00001, I² = 94%; P(heterogeneity)<0.00001, I² = 85%; respectively). Similar results were demonstrated for the CRA (P<0.00001; respectively) and SPCA (P = 0.005; P<0.00001; respectively), with significant heterogeneities for both the CRA (P(heterogeneity)<0.00001, I² = 81%; P(heterogeneity)<0.00001, I² = 98%; respectively) and the SPCA (P(heterogeneity)<0.00001, I² = 96%; P(heterogeneity)<0.00001, I² = 93%; respectively). Significant increases in RI were found in all retrobulbar vessels (P<0.00001; respectively), with significant heterogeneities (P(heterogeneity)<0.00001, I² = 95%; P(heterogeneity)<0.00001, I² = 94%; P(heterogeneity)<0.00001, I² = 97%; respectively).
This meta-analysis suggests that CDI is a potential diagnostic tool for POAG.

BackgroundThe outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has posed stress on the health and well-being of both Chinese people and the public worldwide. Global public interest in this new issue ...largely reflects people’s attention to COVID-19 and their willingness to take precautionary actions. This study aimed to examine global public awareness of COVID-19 using Google Trends.MethodsUsing Google Trends, we retrieved public query data for terms of “2019-nCoV + SARS-CoV-2 + novel coronavirus + new coronavirus + COVID-19 + Corona Virus Disease 2019” between the 31st December 2019 and the 24th February 2020 in six major English-speaking countries, including the USA, the UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Dynamic series analysis demonstrates the overall change trend of relative search volume (RSV) for the topic on COVID-19. We compared the top-ranking related queries and sub-regions distribution of RSV about COVID-19 across different countries. The correlation between daily search volumes on the topic related to COVID-19 and the daily number of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 was analyzed.ResultsThe overall search trend of RSV regarding COVID-19 increased during the early period of observing time and reached the first apex on 31st January 2020. A shorter response time and a longer duration of public attention to COVID-19 was observed in public from the USA, the UK, Australia, and Canada, than that in Ireland and New Zealand. A slightly positive correlation between daily RSV about COVID-19 and the daily number of confirmed cases was observed (P < 0.05). People across countries presented a various interest to the RSV on COVID-19, and public awareness of COVID-19 was different in various sub-regions within countries.ConclusionsThe results suggest that public response time to COVID-19 was different across countries, and the overall duration of public attention was short. The current study reminds us that governments should strengthen the publicity of COVID-19 nationally, strengthen the public's vigilance and sensitivity to COVID-19, inform public the importance of protecting themselves with enough precautionary measures, and finally control the spread of COVID-19 globally.
Introduction
The early diagnosis and detection could greatly improve the clinical outcome of gastric cancer (GC) patients. However, the non-invasive biomarkers for GC detection remain to be ...identified.
Method
We used online databases (GEPIA, UALCAN, Kaplan-Meier plotter, TIMER, and MEXPRESS) to explore the association between H19 or metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) expression in tissues and the occurrence, development, prognosis, the levels of immune cell infiltration, and methylation of GC; the correlation between mRNA expression and DNA methylation levels of genes were also examined. Methylation levels of H19 or MALAT1 in peripheral blood were compared between 150 GC patients and 100 healthy controls (HCs). Predictive nomograms were constructed among female and male groups for GC diagnosis. The calibration curves, Hosmer–Lemeshow test, and decision curve analysis were also used to examine the nomograms’ predictive ability and clinical values.
Results
Using multiple online databases, we found that the mRNA expressions of H19 and MALAT1 in tissues were related to the occurrence of GC, and such expressions were associated with immune cell infiltration of GC and negatively correlated with DNA methylation levels of H19 and MALAT1. H19 gene, H19C island, and MALAT1B island, as well as 20 CpG sites were hypermethylated in peripheral blood of GC patients compared with HCs; similar results were also found in female and male groups (P < .05 for all). The combination of H19c3, H19c4, MALAT1b12, and age, as well as the combination of H19b7, H19c1, H19c5, and age in the nomograms could distinguish GC patients from HCs in the female group and male group, respectively.
Conclusion
We found statistically significant hypermethylation of H19 and MALAT1 promoters in GC patients, and meaningful sensitivity and specificity of MALAT1 and H19 methylation in discriminating GC and HCs were observed in both female and male groups, which indicates that the peripheral blood-based DNA methylation of H19 and MALAT1 could act as potential non-invasive biomarkers for the diagnosis of GC.
Although previous studies have found that parenting style significantly predicts emotional and behavioral problems (EBPs) among Chinese adolescents, the mechanism between different parenting styles ...and EBPs requires in-depth investigation. In our study, we aimed to investigate the mediating effect of resilience, a positive psychological characteristic, between parenting style and EBPs among Chinese adolescents.
In this cross-sectional study, we used a multistage stratified cluster random sampling method to collect data in Shenyang, Liaoning Province from November to December 2019. Self-developed questionnaires were distributed to 1028 adolescents aged 10-18. Finally, the study consisted of 895 participants. The bootstrap method was used to investigate the role of resilience as a mediator in the relationship between different parenting styles and EBPs from a positive psychology perspective.
The mean score of EBPs was 12.71 (SD = 5.77). After controlling for variables such as gender, age, left-behind children, family type and family income, resilience partially played a mediating role in the associations of paternal rejection (a × b = 0.051 BCa95%CI:0.023,0.080), maternal rejection (a × b = 0.055 BCa95%CI: 0.024, 0.086), paternal emotional warmth (a × b = -0.139 BCa95%CI: -0.182, -0.099) and maternal emotional warmth (a × b = -0.140 BCa95%CI: -0.182, -0.102), with EBPs. The effect sizes were11.28%, 11.51%, 40.76%, and 38.78%, respectively.
Resilience could partially mediate the relationship between parenting style and EBPs, highlighting that parents should adopt a positive parenting style and that resilience improvement could be effective in reducing EBPs among Chinese adolescents.

Objective. To investigate the effect of downregulated matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) gene on the proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle, migration, and invasion of human retinoblastoma (RB) cell line ...in vitro. Methods. Small hairpin RNA (shRNA) targeting MMP-2/MMP-9 was designed and transfected into WER1-Rb-1 cells. 48 hours after transfection, qRT-PCR and western blot technique were used to investigate the inhibitory effect of MMP-2 and MMP-9 shRNAs. Cell viability was examined by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Cell cycle arrest was detected using a flow cytometer while apoptosis was tested with Annexin V/PI kit. Transwell chamber assay was performed to detect the migration and invasion ability of the WER1-Rb-1 cells. Results. After transfection of MMP-2/MMP-9 shRNA, there was a significant decrease in the expressions of both mRNA and protein in the shRNA groups compared with the negative and vector controls. The results of MTT assay suggested that the cell viability was significantly decreased in shRNA groups (p<0.05). Cell apoptosis also increased significantly in shRNA groups compared with the negative and vector controls (p<0.05). The flow cytometer analysis proved that the proportion of the G1 phase increased and the proportion of the G0 phase reduced significantly by the transfection of MMP-2/MMP-9 shRNA (p<0.05). The migration and invasion ability were also significantly decreased in the groups of MMP-2/MMP-9 shRNA (p<0.05). Conclusions. Cell viability, migration, and invasion ability of RB cells are inhibited, and apoptosis is induced after downregulation of MMP-2/MMP-9 through RNA interference. MMP-2 and MMP-9 may be potential targets in the gene therapy of RB.

This study conducted among middle school students in Liaoning Province, China, from April to May 2016, A cross-sectional survey was administered to 1,028 students aged 10-19, using instruments such as the Behavior Questionnaire-Revised (SBQ-R), Children's Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale (CPIC), and revised version of Inventory of Parent Attachment (IPPA-R).
Binary logistic regression analysis revealed that adolescents aged 15-19, adolescents with strong perceptions of parental conflict were at high risk of suicide intention. Adolescents living in rural areas, adolescents with high mother-child attachment, adolescents with high father-child attachment were at low risk of suicide intention. Furthermore, parent-child attachment played a mediating role between two dimensions of parental conflict perception (resolved situations and response effect) and suicide intention.
The study concludes that adolescents living in urban areas, older adolescents, adolescents with a high level of parental conflict intensity, and those with low levels of parent-child attachment are at high risk of suicide intention. parent-child attachment played a mediating role between two dimensions of parental conflict perception (resolved situations and response effect) and suicide intention. Thrombolytic agents have thus far yielded limited therapeutic benefits in the treatment of thrombotic disease due to their short half-life, low targeting ability, and association with serious adverse ...reactions, such as bleeding complications. Inspired by the natural roles of platelets during thrombus formation, we fabricated a platelet-based delivery system (NO@uPA/PLTs) comprising urokinase (uPA) and arginine (Arg) for targeted thrombolysis and inhibition of re-embolism. The anchoring of uPA to the platelet surface by lipid insertion increased the thrombotic targeting and in vivo circulation duration of uPA without disturbing platelet functions. Nitric oxide (NO) generated by the loaded Arg inhibited platelet aggregation and activation at the damaged blood vessel, thereby inhibiting re-embolism. NO@uPA/PLTs effectively accumulated at the thrombi in pulmonary embolism and carotid artery thrombosis model mice and exerted superior thrombolytic efficacy. In addition, the platelet delivery system showed excellent thrombus recurrence prevention ability in a mouse model of secondary carotid artery injury. The coagulation indicators in vivo showed that the platelet-based uPA and NO co-delivery system possessed a low hemorrhagic risk, providing a promising tool for rapid thrombolysis and efficient inhibition of posttreatment re-embolism.
The uPA/Arg-coloaded platelet delivery system provided a unique combination to achieve targeted delivery of uPA to thrombi, prolonged the circulation duration of uPA and prevented the recurrence of thrombi with limited haemorrhagic risk. Display omitted
Background
The global burden of digestive diseases has been rising in the last 30 years. The rates and trends of incidence, deaths, and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) for digestive diseases ...need to be investigated.
Methods
We extracted the data on overall digestive diseases and by cause between 1990–2019 from the Global Burden of Diseases 2019 website, including the absolute number and the corresponding age-standardized rates of incidence (ASIR), deaths (ASDR), and DALYs (ASDALYs).
Results
Globally, the incident cases, deaths, and DALYs of digestive diseases in 2019 increased by 74.44, 37.85, and 23.46%, respectively, compared with that in 1990, with an increasing ASIR of 0.09%, as well as decreasing ASDR and ASDALYs of 1.38 and 1.32% annually. The sociodemographic index (SDI) of overall digestive diseases showed a slight increase in ASIR from low to middle-low regions. The downtrend in ASDR and ASDALYs was found in all SDI regions. The burden of incidence was higher in females, while the burden of deaths and DALYs was higher in males for the overall digestive diseases and most causes. The estimated annual percentage changes were significantly associated with the baseline ASIR, ASDR, and ASDALYs for the overall digestive diseases, and the negative correlations between ASDR, ASDALYs, and human development index both in 1990 (

Conclusion
The findings indicate that digestive diseases remain a significant public health burden, with substantial variation across countries, sexes, and age groups.
