Control and management in a large water resource system is discussed. A model of the system is presented. The control problem is stated so as to accomplish prescribed goals assuring desired ...performance of the system. The resulting control system is split into three interdependent subsystems: water retention control, water distribution control and water quality control subsystems. A mathematical formulation of each control unit is derived. The final decision making and control structure is found to be multiobjective and hierarchical. Chosen simulation results are presented, reflecting some features important for control structure design.
