RESUMO O propósito deste artigo é aproximar o significado do pensar calculador de Heidegger e a teoria sobre a sociedade do risco de Beck, considerando suas interpelações com o significado da técnica ...na modernidade. Porém, mais que tratar das aproximações entre ambos os pensadores, este estudo pretende também demonstrar a importância da filosofia da técnica de Heidegger para pensar o sentido do cálculo do risco e do risco do cálculo na sociedade do risco. Assim, argumenta-se que a teoria do risco de Beck confirma e atualiza o pensamento de Heidegger sobre a técnica moderna, quando se observa que o pensar calculador, que dirige e controla o modo de ser na era do técnico, manifesta-se hoje com toda claridade na sociedade do risco global.
ABSTRACT The purpose of this paper is to bring the meaning of Heidegger’s calculative thinking and Beck’s risk society theory closer, as well as their interpellations with the meaning of technique in modernity. Nevertheless, more than dealing with the convergences between both thinkers, this study also intends to demonstrate the importance of Heidegger’s technique philosophy in order to investigate the meaning of risk calculation and of calculation risk in risk society. Therefore, it argues that Beck’s risk theory confirms and updates Heidegger’s thinking on modern technique, as one observes that calculative thinking, which directs and controls the way of being in the age of technicality, clearly manifests itself nowadays, in the global risk society.
The effects of Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection on patients with rheumatic diseases have not been extensively studied. Our aim was to compare the clinical course of patients with rheumatoid ...arthritis and spondyloarthritis, categorized according to the use or not of biologic disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs), during and after infection by CHIKV.
Patients from a northeastern Brazilian city that suffered an epidemic outbreak of Chikungunya fever (CHIK) between Oct 2015 and Jul 2016, on regular follow-up in a longitudinal registry of rheumatic patients (BiobadaBrasil), were invited to participate. Participants underwent a standardized clinical interview and collection of blood sample for serological tests (IgM/IgG) for CHIKV. A positive IgG was considered evidence of previous CHIKV infection.
105 patients (84 with rheumatoid arthritis, 17 with ankylosing spondylitis, and 4 with psoriatic arthritis) were evaluated. Most patients (58, 55.2%) were on therapy with bDMARDs. The overall prevalence of seropositivity for CHIKV was 47.6% (39.7% in patients on bDMARDs and 57.4% in those exclusively on conventional synthetic (cs-) DMARDs (p = 0.070). Among seropositive patients, asymptomatic disease had similar frequency in those treated and not treated with bDMARDs (39.1% versus 33.3%, respectively; p = 0.670). However, patients exclusively on csDMARDs presented significantly higher prevalence of articular symptoms beyond 3 months and switched treatment more often than patients on bDMARDs (p < 0.05 for both comparisons).
Among rheumatic patients with CHIK, those on bDMARDs had shorter persistence of articular symptoms and switched treatment scheme less often than patients exclusively treated with csDMARDs.
Resumo: O artigo visa a confrontar o visível otimismo de Pierre Lévy sobre a cibercultura como espaço de produção da inteligência coletiva e da educação para a democratização social, com a postura ...crítica de David Lyon acerca da cultura da vigilância e seus efeitos sociopolíticos, na era da cibercultura. De cunho filosófico e qualitativo, cuja fonte de pesquisa é essencialmente bibliográfica, trata-se de um estudo comparativo que busca estabelecer as diferenças elementares entre a postura de Lévy e Lyon sobre a cibercultura. Em consequência, e reconhecendo as teses de Lyon sobre a ilusão do anonimato e os riscos do fim da privacidade, na era da cibercultura, o estudo termina por apontar alguns indicativos sobre as novas práticas educativas nesse contexto.
Abstract: This paper tries to confront Lévy’s visible optimism about cyberculture as a space for the production of collective intelligence and education for social democratization, with David Lyon’s critical stance on the culture of vigilance and its socio-political effects. Philosophical and qualitative, whose research source is essentially bibliographic, it is a comparative study, in which one seeks to establish the elementary differences between Lévy and Lyon’s posture on cyberculture. Consequently, and rrecognizing Lyon’s theses on the illusion of anonymity and the risks of the end of privacy in the age of cyberculture, the article concludes by pointing out some indications about the new educational practices in this context.
The tuberculin skin test is not an ideal screening test for the patients with rheumatoid arthritis to identify cases of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) prior to the start of treatment with ...anti-TNFs, as it responds inadequately to late hypersensitivity, which is fundamental for producing a response to the inoculated antigen. Assays based on detection of the production of IFNγ in vitro by mononuclear peripheral cells stimulated by specific antigens are more specific than PPD in detecting LTBI. The problematic of this study, in particular, can be formulated as follows: born of the critique of the model of technological civilization, is Hans Jonas’s proposal of ethics capable of overcoming the challenges of the theory of action of the present time? Or is it an ethics that represents only the other side of the same coin of the technified world, whose moral action drives everything to calculation and planning and, therefore, another indication of the man of technique as anticipated by Heidegger’s suspicion?
Objective
Most reports on serious infections (SI) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients treated with biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) are from the USA and Western Europe. ...Data from other regions are largely missing. We report data from South American countries with different backgrounds and health-care systems but similar registries.
Methods
We merged 2010–2016 data from two registries, BIOBADABRASIL (Brazil) and BIOBADASAR (Argentina), which share the same protocol, online platform and data monitoring process. Patients with active RA were included when they began the first bDMARD or a conventional synthetic DMARD (csDMARD, control group). The SI incidence rate (IR) per 1000 patient/years and adjusted IR ratio (aIRR) were estimated for bDMARDs and csDMARDs.
Results
Data were analysed for 3717 RA patients with an exposure of 13,380 patient/years. The 2591 patients treated with bDMARDs (64% tumour necrosis factor-α inhibitors (TNFi)) had a follow-up of 9300 years, and the 1126 treated with csDMARDs had an exposure of 4081 patient/years. The SI IR was 30.54 (CI 27.18–34.30) for all bDMARDs and 5.15 (CI 3.36–7.89) for csDMARDs. The aIRR between the two groups was 2.03 (1.05, 3.9

= 0.034) for the first 6 months of treatment but subsequently increased to 8.26 (4.32, 15.76

< 0.001). The SI IR for bDMARDs decreased over time in both registries, dropping from 36.59 (28.41–47.12) in 2012 to 7.27 (4.79–11.05) in 2016.
Conclusion
While SI remains a major concern in South American patients with RA treated with bDMARDs, a favourable trend toward a reduction was observed in the last years.

Que significa pensar na modernidade? Ou ainda, qual a relação entre o pensamento, a linguagem e a técnica em nossa época? Estas questões iniciais movem este trabalho, que tem como objetivo: analisar, ...a partir da perspectiva heideggeriana, a atividade do pensar técnico na modernidade. De um lado, os olhos que contemplam, com o pensar meditativo; do outro, os olhos que calculam, com o pensar calculador. Além de evidenciar a relação existente entre o pensar e a técnica moderna, este estudo pretende, também, demonstrar de que forma essas implicações perpassam a questão da essência da linguagem. Para tanto, foram utilizadas principalmente as obras de Heidegger que dialogam com esta temática, tais como: Construir, habitar, pensar (2001); A caminho da linguagem (2003), A questão da técnica (2012), O que quer dizer pensar? (2002), O fim da filosofia e a tarefa do pensamento (1966), Serenidade (2001).
Influenciado por filósofos como Hegel, Marx e Heidegger, Herbert Marcuse é considerado um dos representantes da Teoria Crítica do Século XX. Através da formulação de uma teoria social crítica, ele ...buscou compreender, as condições sociais de seu tempo no que diz respeito à cultura, à antropologia, à tecnologia, ao trabalho, ao capitalismo, ao totalitarismo, entre outros temas afins. Com o objetivo de compreender seu posicionamento teórico a respeito dos problemas filosóficos da tecnologia, este trabalho, cuja coleta de dados é essencialmente bibliográfica, resgata inicialmente o posicionamento marcuseano, pontuando as análises, as influências e as principais conclusões de Marcuse acerca da tecnologia expostas em suas principais obras escritas entre os anos de 1941 a 1964. De posse desta caracterização, pretende-se aprofundar o sentido político e crítico de seu pensamento acerca da tecnologia, sobretudo, no que diz respeito à categoria do uso político da tecnologia, da racionalidade tecnológica, da unidimensionalidade e da emancipação. Por fim, analisa-se a crítica marcuseana da tecnologia e a sua importância para a atualidade, considerando as manifestações atuais da globalização e da sociedade da informação. Deste modo, conclui-se com as principais perspectivas que o pensamento marcuseano pode apontar na direção de uma transformação qualitativa da condição humana no tempo presente.
