We have carried out a spectral classification by the activity types for a subsample of blazars from the BZCAT v.5 Catalogue, namely the Flat Spectrum Radio Quasars (FSRQ) candidates, designated in ...the catalogue as BZQ subtype objects. The classification is based on the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) homogeneous medium-resolution optical spectroscopy and along with the standard BPT-type diagnostic diagrams, we have applied our newly introduced fine classification scheme with subtypes of quasars and considering many more features. Out of 1909 BZQ objects, 618 having SDSS spectra were classified, resulting in 445 broad-line QSOs, 19 narrow-line QSOs, 138 broad-line Seyferts, 8 narrow-line Seyferts, and 2 Emission-line galaxies without a proper classification. We have calculated the absolute magnitudes and luminosities for all objects to distinguish QSOs from Seyferts, as defined by the Catalogue of QSOs and Active Galaxies, -22m.25 separation limit. This way 148 objects changed their BZCAT subtypes between BZQ to BZG, and also 6 BZQ objects to BZU.
New enantiomerically enriched unsaturated tailor-made amino acids have been obtained. As a starting amino acid synthon for the asymmetric synthesis of tailor-made unsaturated amino acids, Ni(II) ...square-planar complexes of Schiff’s bases of propargylglycine, allylglycine and glycine with chiral auxiliary (S)-2-N-(N’-benzylprolyl)-aminobenzophenone ((S)-BPB) were used. The Cα-alkylation of propargylglycine, allylglycine and glycine moieties resulted in the asymmetric synthesis of novel (S)-α-propargylglycine, (S)-α-allylglycine and glycine derivatives containing an aromatic group in the side chain (de 80–95,5%). After purification and cleavage of the metal complexes, the amino acids were isolated in high enantiomeric purity (ee >99%). Of the obtained seven tailor-made amino acids four showed inhibitory activity to collagenase G. The amino acid with an acetylene bond in the side chain (IC50 = 1.29 ± 0.02 mM) had the best result. Molecular docking showed that the amino acids with activity to collagenase G contained hydrogen and π-π bonds with the enzyme.

Abstract This chapter outlines the epidemiology of brucellosis in the Russian Federation and in five countries bordering Russia. Since the Soviet Union‘s dissolution, Russia and the newly formed ...independent republics have failed to maintain policies to control brucellosis and other zoonotic diseases. Many of these republics, due to weak animal control and prevention systems and dangerous food preparation practices, are still burdened with the human cost of brucellosis. The final summary of this section provides an example of the successful transboundary cooperative efforts between Arizona and Mexico, which could be applied to the situation between Russia and the bordering independent republics.

We report measurements of the exclusive neutral pion electroproduction cross section off protons at large values of $x_B$ (0.36, 0.48 and 0.60) and $Q^2$ (3.1 to 8.4 GeV$^2$) obtained from Jefferson ...Lab Hall A experiment E12-06-014. The corresponding structure functions $d\sigma_L/dt+\epsilon d\sigma_T/dt$, $d\sigma_{TT}/dt$, $d\sigma_{LT}/dt$ and $d\sigma_{LT'}/dt$ are extracted as a function of the proton momentum transfer $t-t_{min}$. The results suggest the amplitude for transversely polarized virtual photons continues to dominate the cross-section throughout this kinematic range. The data are well described by calculations based on transversity Generalized Parton Distributions coupled to a helicity flip Distribution Amplitude of the pion, thus providing a unique way to probe the structure of the nucleon.
Aging is emerging as a druggable target with growing interest from academia, industry and investors. New technologies such as artificial intelligence and advanced screening techniques, as well as a ...strong influence from the industry sector may lead to novel discoveries to treat age-related diseases. The present review summarizes presentations from the 7
Annual Aging Research and Drug Discovery (ARDD) meeting, held online on the 1
to 4
of September 2020. The meeting covered topics related to new methodologies to study aging, knowledge about basic mechanisms of longevity, latest interventional strategies to target the aging process as well as discussions about the impact of aging research on society and economy. More than 2000 participants and 65 speakers joined the meeting and we already look forward to an even larger meeting next year. Please mark your calendars for the 8
ARDD meeting that is scheduled for the 31
of August to 3
of September, 2021, at Columbia University, USA.
A new and convenient synthesis of optically pure ( S )-2-amino-5-arylpent-4-ynoic acids (alkynylated amino acids) is reported. ( S )-2-Aminopent-4-ynoic acid-Ni-( S )-BPB was prepared and then ...functionalized via Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions to give ( S )-2-amino-5-arylpent-4-ynoic acid-Ni-( S )-BPB. The reaction conditions for the cross-coupling reaction were optimized and twelve derivatives were synthesized. Afterwards the Ni-complexes were cleaved to obtain the free ( S )-2-amino-5-arylpent-4-ynoic acids with excellent optical purity. The prepared ( S )-2-amino-5-arylpent-4-ynoic acids were tested for biological activity and selectively showed high inhibitory activity against aldose reductase (ALR2) over ALR1. Molecular docking studies have also been carried out to identify the putative binding mode of the compounds in these enzymes.
