RESUMEN: La presente contribución expone los resultados de la investigación desarrollada en el marco del concurso internacional Solar Decathlon LAC 2019, la cual tuvo por objetivo el diseño y ...construcción de un prototipo de vivienda económica TUHOUSE (Technically Unique House Using Solar Energy), a escala 1:1, capaz de incorporar estrategias sostenibles y bioclimáticas acordes con la región tropical. Para esto se llevó a cabo una metodología de taller de diseño, basada en el trabajo interdisciplinario entre distintas áreas de la Arquitectura y la Ingeniería, pertenecientes a diversos programas de las Universidades de San Buenaventura y Autónoma de Occidente (Cali, Colombia). El principal aporte metodológico fue lograr aquel trabajo interdisciplinario desde las etapas iniciales, lo cual se suma a que estudiantes y profesores participaran en la construcción del prototipo para finalmente verificar su comportamiento con las pruebas del concurso. Entre resultados de la experiencia, se destaca la propuesta urbana con alta habitabilidad y densidad, y la comprobación de estrategias pasivas de diseño enfocadas en la envolvente del prototipo, que pueden ser replicadas en condiciones similares, pero también la importancia del interrogante sobre la validez del modelo de confort térmico propuesto para regiones tropicales.
RESUMEN El desempeño bioclimático de edificaciones en escenarios de cambio climático ha sido ampliamente estudiado desde la perspectiva termo-energética, pero escasamente abordado desde la ...suficiencia lumínica interior. Esta escasez está relacionada con la invariabilidad de los datos de radiación en los archivos climáticos disponibles de escenarios futuros. La presente investigación propone identificar los impactos que, sobre la suficiencia lumínica, tendría la variabilidad de datos de radiación en archivos climáticos de escenarios futuros. La metodología incluye la adaptación de archivos climáticos disponibles y la realización de simulaciones computacionales de luz natural para espacios de trabajo hipotéticos localizados en Medellín, Colombia. Los resultados evidencian diferencias en la métrica Spatial Daylight Autonomy - SDA de hasta 18% en diversos escenarios futuros. Como conclusión, se plantea la necesidad de afinar las predicciones sobre la disponibilidad lumínica exterior que permitan optimizar las evaluaciones de desempeño lumínico en escenarios de cambio climático.
El presente trabajo expone una serie de recomendaciones de diseño en cuanto al confort térmico para aulas escolares localizadas en la ciudad de Cali, Colombia, ubicada en el trópico. Se expone el ...aporte conceptual de diversos autores; la aplicación de una metodología analítico-empírica, a partir de la aplicación de la técnica de Auditoría Ambiental de Percepción del Usuario (AAPU) para el análisis de la situación real y la verificación del desempeño térmico de las estrategias de diseño a partir de herramientas de simulación en estado transitorio. Entre los principales resultados resalta la baja correspondencia entre los modelos de confort térmico (analítico y adaptativo) y la situación medida, la expresada por los estudiantes, la relevada mediante equipamiento de precisión y la simulada.
This work presents the results of research made within the framework of the Solar Decathlon LAC 2019 international competition, which aimed at designing and building a prototype of a TUHOUSE ...(Technically Unique House Using Solar Energy) affordable dwelling, at a 1:1 scale, a house that is capable of incorporating sustainable and bioclimatic strategies for the tropical region. The methodology consisted of a design workshop with interdisciplinary work from the different architecture and engineering areas in programs at the Universities of San Buenaventura and Autonoma de Occidente (Cali, Colombia). The main contribution of the methodology was to achieve interdisciplinary work from the initial stages, alongside students and teachers participating in the construction of the prototype, before finally checking its performance using the contest’s tests. Among the results that stand out from of this experience, are an urban proposal with high habitability and density, the testing of passive design strategies focused on a prototype envelope that can be replicated in similar conditions, but also the importance of the question about the validity of the thermal comfort model proposed for tropical regions.
The bioclimatic performance of buildings under climate change scenarios has been extensively studied from a thermo-energy perspective but hardly studied at all from the perspective of indoor daylight ...sufficiency. This shortcoming is related to the invariability of radiation data in the available weather files of future scenarios. This research proposes identifying the impacts that the variability of radiation data in weather files of future scenarios would have on daylight sufficiency in indoor spaces. The methodology includes the adaptation of available weather files and the running of daylight simulations for hypothetical workspaces located in Medellín, Colombia. The results show differences in the Spatial Daylight Autonomy – SDA metric of up to 18% in different future scenarios. In conclusion, the need is outlined to refine predictions of outdoor daylight availability that allow improving daylight performance evaluations under climate change scenarios.

Today, airspace control has the challenge of merging information from independent and heterogeneous systems in order to minimize air safety risks and facilitate the decision-making process. One of ...the main risks for air operations is meteorology because convective formations like Torre cumulus or cumulonimbus could generate several dangerous phenomena such as icing, wind gusts, and thunderstorms, among others, that can affect the air operation safety. Based on previous works that allow the automatic identification of convective phenomena through the fusion of multispectral satellite images and other sources as winds and Meteorological Aerodrome Report (METAR), and establishing a common georeferenced coordinates system like WGS-84, for all sources, it can generate a system that could calculate early alerts about hazardous weather conditions in the aircrafts proximality for air traffic control system. For this, a meteorological analysis system can generate information about convective clouds calculating area, heights, temperatures, risk level and position of the meteorological formation. Parallelly the convective cloud is surrounded by optimal elliptical forms centered on the convective formation, generating a meteorological object. On the other hand, there is a system responsible for monitoring the information of the surveillance sensors. This system fused the air traffic sensors available like primary and secondary radar signals and ADS-B sensors in a unique WGS-84 coordinates system. Finally, in a georeferenced raster-type graphing system or in a Geographic Information System (GIS), the meteorological and surveillance information is correlated projecting the track routes generates by air traffic system and traces generated by meteorological objects in order to establish times and high-risk areas, early. With this information, the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) system users, could minimize risk areas and reorganize the air traffic flow. This methodology then, would contribute to the decision-making process of ATC, facilitating the air flow reorganization and minimizing meteorological risks. For the development of this project a cooperative experimental methodology by subsystems was used. It was based on an operational knowledge and normal operating procedures of the Colombian Air Force, integrated with radar tracking technologies that implement decision trees. These alerts allow the air traffic controller to assess the risk and in accordance with the evaluation, if necessary, reorganize the air traffic flow for a specific area before the aircraft enter areas of bad weather mitigating the risks.
In the design of low cost housing without air conditioned incorporated, the design of windows for guaranteeing adequate lighting levels seems to be an efficient architectonic strategy. In that ...context, computational simulation results to be an invaluable resource for predicting luminous performance. With the aim to obtain reliable and useful results in daylighting simulation, it´s important, among other, to specify adequate sky types and to use correct metrics. This paper describes the daylight incorporation process into Solar Decathlon 2015´s MIHOUSE prototype and evidences the difficulties founded in the daylight performance evaluation process by using Daylight Factor in the municipality of Cali, Colombia.
Este artículo describe el proceso de incorporación de iluminación natural en el prototipo Mihouse de Solar Decathlon 2015. Se evidencian las dificultades encontradas en el proceso de evaluación del desempeño lumínico, a partir de la métrica Daylight Factor aplicada en Cali, Colombia. El diseño de aberturas para garantizar niveles lumínicos óptimos resulta ser una estrategia fundamental para el diseño arquitectónico de vivienda de bajo presupuesto, principalmente si no se prevén sistemas de acondicionamiento térmico. Ante este panorama, la simulación computacional es un recurso indispensable para predecir el comportamiento lumínico.
