Renal damage associated with proteinuria. Experimental studies have demonstrated that proteins filtered by the glomerulus induce a proliferation of proximal tubular cells accompanied by an increased ...synthesis of many vasoactive and proinflammatory substances. The appearance of interstitial cellular infiltrates, a well-known finding in proteinuric diseases, precedes progressive tubulointerstitial fibrosis. Activation of the transcription factor κB (NF-κB) plays a pivotal role in the renal damage induced by proteinuria. In this scenario, any therapeutic intervention that reduces proteinuria should be beneficial for the kidney. Drugs that block the renin-angiotensin system angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor antagonists (ARA) have repeatedly shown striking antiproteinuric and renoprotective properties, both in experimental and clinical studies. Studies in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetic nephropathy as well as in non-diabetic nephropathies have confirmed that the renoprotection obtained with ACEI/ARA is closely related with their antiproteinuric effect and is largely independent of blood pressure changes. However, resistance to the antiproteinuric effect of ACEI/ARA is a common clinical observation. Several therapeutic measures (that is, adequate blood pressure control, early introduction of ACEI/ARA, dietary protein restriction, low salt diets, weight loss in overweight patients, addition of a diuretic, increasing ACEI/ARA dose titrated against proteinuria levels, combined therapy ACEI plus ARA, addition of drugs with antiproteinuric effect such as non-dihydropiridine calcium channel blockers or NSAIDs) may increase the proteinuria reduction induced by ACEI and ARA.

Abstract The objective of this article is to determine which variables, that are directly associated with the competitiveness of MSME’s established in the municipality of Hermosillo Sonora, have been more affected by SAR-CoV-2 (which causes COVID-19). The methodological approach was quantitative, exploratory, descriptive, and non-experimental, taken from a sample consisting of 309 companies. The variables which were more susceptible to the effects of COVID-19 and determinants of competitiveness, in order of importance, were as follows: human resources, strategic planning, and marketing. We recommend the implementation of strategies that foster and incentivize an MSME’s permanence and success as a positive and relevant means of responding and controlling the impact caused by COVID-19
Some surface-initiated related bearing failures have their source in standstill corrosion. This can be an important issue in transportation, energy, pulp and paper and other industries where bearings ...run long journeys generating relatively high temperatures or being in contact with humidity and then they stop overnight were they get cold, in this way producing condensation of humidity around the contacts. This condensation can generate pitting corrosion (depending on temperatures and environment). Pitting corrosion can be very mild and without consequences but sometimes it is the source of small cracks and spalls. When the bearing runs again, these surface defects will be triggered by rolling contact fatigue and can propagate, eventually producing a large spall and a bearing failure. The present paper investigates the interaction of the phenomenon of pitting corrosion with rolling contact fatigue and proposes an engineering concept model where the main parameters are investigated giving some indication of safe and unsafe combinations for spall propagation from standstill corrosion.
