We present the physics program of the Belle II experiment, located on the intensity frontier SuperKEKB e+e- collider. Belle II collected its first collisions in 2018, and is expected to operate for ...the next decade. It is anticipated to collect 50/ab of collision data over its lifetime. This book is the outcome of a joint effort of Belle II collaborators and theorists through the Belle II theory interface platform (B2TiP), an effort that commenced in 2014. The aim of B2TiP was to elucidate the potential impacts of the Belle II program, which includes a wide scope of physics topics: B physics, charm, tau, quarkonium, electroweak precision measurements and dark sector searches. It is composed of nine working groups (WGs), which are coordinated by teams of theorist and experimentalists conveners: Semileptonic and leptonic B decays, Radiative and Electroweak penguins, φ1 and φ2 (time-dependent CP violation) measurements, φ3 measurements, Charmless hadronic B decay, Charm, Quarkonium(like), tau and low-multiplicity processes, new physics and global fit analyses. This book highlights "golden- and silver-channels", i.e. those that would have the highest potential impact in the field. Theorists scrutinised the role of those measurements and estimated the respective theoretical uncertainties, achievable now as well as prospects for the future. Experimentalists investigated the expected improvements with the large dataset expected from Belle II, taking into account improved performance from the upgraded detector.

The Belle II Theory Interface Platform (B2TiP) was created as a physics prospects working group of the Belle II collaboration in June 2014. It offered a platform where theorists and experimentalists ...could work together to elucidate the potential impacts of the Belle II program, which includes a wide scope of physics topics: B physics, charm, τ, quarkonium physics, electroweak precision measurements, and dark sector searches.

We discuss the role of the U(1) axial symmetry for the scalar and pseudoscalar meson mass spectrum of QCD at finite temperature, above the chiral transition at T sub(c), using a chiral effective ...Lagrangian model, which, in addition to the usual chiral condensate , also includes a (possible) genuine U(1)A-breaking condensate that (possibly) survives across the chiral transition. The motivations for considering this Lagrangian (and a critical comparison with other effective Lagrangian models existing in the literature) are presented. A detailed comparison between the case N sub(f) > or = 3 and the (remarkably different) case N sub(f) = 2 is performed. The results obtained in the case N sub(f) = 2 are also critically compared with the available lattice results.
The B0, B0s, B+ and Λ0b hadron production asymmetries are measured using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1, collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton ...collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The measurements are performed as a function of transverse momentum and rapidity of the b hadrons within the LHCb detector acceptance. The overall production asymmetries, integrated over transverse momentum and rapidity, are also determined.
The production cross-section of J/ψ pairs is measured using a data sample of pp collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of s√=13TeV, corresponding to an integrated ...luminosity of 279±11pb−1. The measurement is performed for J/ψ mesons with a transverse momentum of less than 10GeV/c in the rapidity range 2.0<y<4.5. The production cross-section is measured to be 13.5±0.9±0.8nb. The first uncertainty is statistical, and the second is systematic. The differential cross-sections as functions of several kinematic variables of the J/ψ pair are measured and compared to theoretical predictions.
A search is performed for the central exclusive production of pairs of charmonia produced in proton-proton collisions. Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb super(-1) collected ...at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, J/psiJ/psi and J/psipsi(2S) pairs are observed, which have been produced in the absence of any other activity inside the LHCb acceptance that is sensitive to charged particles in the pseudorapidity ranges (-3.5, -1.5) and (1.5, 5.0). Searches are also performed for pairs of P-wave charmonia and limits are set on their production. The cross-sections for these processes, where the dimeson system has a rapidity between 2.0 and 4.5, are measured to be sigma super(J/psiJ/psi) = 58 + or - 10(stat) + or - 6(syst) pb, sigma super(J/psipsi(2S)) = (ProQuest: Formulae and/or non-USASCII text omitted) + or - 10(syst) pb, sigma super(psi(2S)psi(2S)) < 237 pb, sigma super( chi c0 chi c0) < 69 nb, sigma super( chi c1 chi c1) < 45 pb, sigma super( chi c2 chi c2) < 141 pb, where the upper limits are set at the 90% confidence level. The measured J/psiJ/psi and J/psipsi/(2S) cross-sections are consistent with theoretical expectations.
A search for the rare decays B0s→τ+τ− and B0→τ+τ− is performed using proton--proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3fb−1 ...collected in 2011 and 2012. The τ leptons are reconstructed through the decay τ−→π−π+π−ντ. Assuming no contribution from B0→τ+τ− decays, an upper limit is set on the branching fraction B(B0s→τ+τ−)<6.8×10−3 at 95\% confidence level. If instead no contribution from B0s→τ+τ− decays is assumed, the limit is B(B0→τ+τ−)<2.1×10−3 at 95\% confidence level. These results correspond to the first direct limit on B(B0s→τ+τ−) and the world's best limit on B(B0→τ+τ−).

A search for the charmless B0s→η′ϕ decay is performed using pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of ...3 fb−1. No signal is observed and upper limits on the B0s→η′ϕ branching fraction are set to 0.82×10−6 at 90% and 1.01×10−6 at 95% confidence level.
An amplitude analysis of the decay Λ0b→D0pπ− is performed in the part of the phase space containing resonances in the D0p channel. The study is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated ...luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 of pp collisions recorded by the LHCb experiment. The spectrum of excited Λ+c states that decay into D0p is studied. The masses, widths and quantum numbers of the Λc(2880)+ and Λc(2940)+ resonances are measured. The constraints on the spin and parity for the Λc(2940)+ state are obtained for the first time. A near-threshold enhancement in the D0p amplitude is investigated and found to be consistent with a new resonance, denoted the Λc(2860)+, of spin 3/2 and positive parity.
