This article offers a philological study of the borrowings from Castilian and Spanish in Moroccan Arabic during the 19th and early 20th centuries. It draws mainly on two sources: Father Patricio de la Torre's Vocabulista and Father Lerchundi's Vocabulario. A study is made of a total of 473 voices found in the Spanish spoken by Moors and Jews, the haquitía and the lingua franca.
While there is sufficient evidence of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy's effectiveness in allowing patients to deal with chronic pain, the effectiveness in cognitive fusion, one of the six core ...components of the Psychology Flexibility Model, has yet to be established. The aim of this article is to assess whether psychological interventions decrease cognitive fusion.
The Web of Science, SCOPUS, Medline, and PsycINFO databases were searched for primary studies up to June 2024. Studies with a cognitive fusion measure in which chronic pain patients received a psychological intervention were included. A methodological quality scale was applied to the selected studies and the average effect sizes (Hedges g) were calculated.
This review included 18 articles with 24 studies (19 pre-post/follow-up studies and five randomized control trials). Cognitive fusion decreased significantly after the intervention. The effect sizes were small/medium at post-test, g = -0.39, p < .001, 95% CI -0.52, -0.26; and medium at long-term follow-up, g = -0.55, p < .001, 95% CI −0.74, -0.36. A similar tendency was found for studies with RCTs at post-test, g = -0.61, p = .006, 95% CI −1.05, -0.17, short-term follow-up, g = -0.79, p < .001, 95% CI −1.18, -0.40 and long-term follow-up, g = -0.58, p = .003, 95% CI -0.95, -0.20). Moderator variables such as unemployment, gender, pain intensity, level of depression before the intervention, and duration and intervention modality were identified.
Psychological interventions tended to decrease cognitive fusion in chronic pain patients. Nonetheless, more clinical trials are needed to establish the role of cognitive fusion in psychological flexibility.
•We studied the effectiveness of psychological interventions in cognitive fusion.•Patients with chronic pain were the population of interest.•Cognitive fusion decreased significantly at post-test and follow-up stages.•Moderator variables (e.g., gender, depression and pain intensity) were identified.•Further clinical trials are needed for stronger conclusions.

Abstract
Objective
The need for measuring emotional functioning in patients with chronic pain was recognized decades ago. The Initiative on Methods, Measures, and Pain Assessment in Clinical Trials ...(IMMPACT) proposed the Profile of Mood States for this purpose. However, to date, its factor structure has not been confirmed in these patients.
Methods
We set out to use confirmatory factor analysis to test the theoretical structure of seven factors: Tension-Anxiety, Depression-Dejection, Anger-Hostility, Vigor-Activity, Fatigue-Inertia, Confusion-Bewilderment, and Friendliness.
Participants
The sample consisted of 588 Spanish adult patients with chronic pain.
Results
The original structure could not be verified according to the obtained fit indices (e.g., root-mean-square error of approximation = 0.11). For this reason, we carried out a second study that relied on exploratory factor analysis to evaluate the structure in half of the cases and confirmatory factor analysis to validate it in the other half. The factor structure detected in the exploratory factor analysis was not satisfactory, nor could it be validated with confirmatory factor analysis (e.g., normed fit index between 0.54 and 0.56).
Conclusions
The factor structure of the Profile of Mood States could not be satisfactorily confirmed. Consequently, other mood measures and shorter, optimized versions of the POMS are discussed as possible alternatives.
The Vocabulista, written by Father Patricio de la Torre in Tangier at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century, includes a total of 183 proverbs that we present in this article. Some of ...them appear in Andalusian sources (az-Zağğāli, Ibn ʕĀṣim and Alonso del Castillo) and others remain in the current Moroccan proverbs. We offer in this work its linguistic and stylistic presentation, as well as a comparative study with these sources. We have also incorporated two appendices with all sayings and a glossary.
