ID15A is a newly refurbished beamline at the ESRF devoted to operando and time‐resolved diffraction and imaging, total scattering and diffraction computed tomography. The beamline is optimized for ...rapid alternation between the different techniques during a single operando experiment in order to collect complementary data on working systems. The high available energy (up to 120 keV) means that even bulky and highly absorbing systems may be studied. The beamline is equipped with optimized focusing optics and a photon‐counting CdTe pixel detector, allowing for both unprecedented data quality at high energy and for very rapid triggered experiments. A large choice of imaging detectors and ancillary probes and sample environments is also available.

). Here, the contamination rates observed for a smaller constant area unit (the 0.66-cm

window area of the holder) were statistically analyzed. Therefore, a statistical difference in rate distributions between RGSH (Return Grid Sensor House) and EDR (European Drawer Rack) and between FDTS and either SiOCH or parylene was shown for the coarse particles but not for the fine particles. The contamination rates were found to be low, confirming the efficiency of the long-term air purification system. The rates tend to vary with the astronaut occupancy rates. Surfaces of spacecraft for long-duration exploration left unmanned during dormancy periods can be considered safe from biocontamination.
Abstract
Future long-duration human spaceflight will require developments to limit biocontamination of surface habitats. The MATISS (Microbial Aerosol Tethering on Innovative Surfaces in the ...international Space Station) experiments allowed for exposing surface treatments in the ISS (International Space Station) using a sample-holder developed to this end. Three campaigns of FDTS (perFluoroDecylTrichloroSilane) surface exposures were performed over monthly durations during distinct periods. Tile scanning optical microscopy (×3 and ×30 magnifications) showed a relatively clean environment with a few particles on the surface (0.8 to 7 particles per mm
2
). The varied densities and shapes in the coarse area fraction (50–1500 µm
2
) indicated different sources of contamination in the long term, while the bacteriomorph shapes of the fine area fraction (0.5–15 µm
2
) were consistent with microbial contamination. The surface contamination rates correlate to astronauts’ occupancy rates on board. Asymmetric particles density profiles formed throughout time along the air-flow. The higher density values were located near the flow entry for the coarse particles, while the opposite was the case for the fine particles, probably indicating the hydrophobic interaction of particles with the FDTS surface.

), but leading to a significant coverage-rate (>2% in 20 years). Varied shapes were displayed in the coarse (50–1500 µm
2
) and fine (0.5–50 µm
2
) area fractions, consistent with scale dices (tissue or skin) and microbial cells, respectively. The 200–900 µm
2
fraction of the coarse particles was systematically higher on FDTS and SiOCH than on Parylene, while the opposite was observed for the <10 µm
2
fraction of the fine particles. This trend suggests two biocontamination sources and a surface deposition impacted by hydrophobic coatings.
BACKGROUND:Knowledge is scarce about the role of massive weight loss in facial age perception. The aim of this study was to verify whether there is a change in the perception of facial age when ...comparing people with morbid obesity before surgery and 1 year after the procedure.
METHODS:Patients with morbid obesity have been analyzed, through a prospective cohort, before and 1 year after undergoing bariatric surgery. Seven plastic surgeons estimated the age of each subject.
RESULTS:Seventy patients participated. Five patients were excluded because of the exclusion criteria. There was no drop-off among the subjects participating in this cohort. Before surgery, the mean facial age perception was 40.8 years; after surgery, mean facial age perception was 43.7 years (95 percent CI, 0.58 to 2.95; p = 0.004). Men older than 40 years, with a preoperative body mass index between 40 and 49.9 kg/m, weight greater than 127.65 kg before surgery, and percentage of excess weight lost greater than 75.13 percent demonstrated greater perceived facial aging.
CONCLUSION:Massive weight loss appears to produce facial aging.

Cirurgia bariátrica é um tratamento eficaz para obesidade mórbida. Alguns fatores psicológicos podem impactar no resultado pós-operatório relacionado a perda de peso. Investigar a influência das ...expectativas e motivações pré-operatórias e presença de outros transtornos psicológicos que tem potencial de estarem ligados ao desfecho desfavorável foi o objetivo desta pesquisa. Este estudo retrospectivo, caso controle considerou 44 casos de fracasso para 88 controles de sucesso numa amostra randomizada de pacientes operados num serviço de referência de um Hospital Escola. Os resultados revelaram que expectativas relacionadas a diminuição do preconceito social e melhoria da capacidade e condições de trabalho estão associadas a resposta insatisfatória na perda do excesso de peso esperada neste procedimento cirúrgico. Falhas em tratamentos prévios para controle da obesidade foram apontadas como indicador favorável relacionado ao sucesso na perda de peso pós cirurgia. E não houve associação de outros transtornos psicológicos com o resultado de fracasso.

The "Square Kilometre Array" (SKA) is a large international radio telescope project characterised, as suggested by its name, by a total collecting area of approximately one square kilometre, and ...consisting of several interferometric arrays to observe at metric and centimetric wavelengths. The deployment of the SKA will take place in two sites, in South Africa and Australia, and in two successive phases. From its Phase 1, the SKA will be one of the most formidable scientific machines ever deployed by mankind, and by far the most impressive in terms of data throughput and required computing power. With the participation of almost 200 authors from forty research institutes and six private companies, the publication of this French SKA white paper illustrates the strong involvement in the SKA project of the French astronomical community and of a rapidly growing number of major scientific and technological players in the fields of Big Data, high performance computing, energy production and storage, as well as system integration.
Background
Obstructive sleep apnea–hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is considered a comorbidity associated with morbid obesity, mainly because of the large neck circumference. Depending on its severity, ...OSAHS can interfere in many homeostasis systems, for example, the central nervous system (CNS). Neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and S100B protein derived from astrocytes are considered sensitive biochemical markers of cerebral injury. We evaluated serum S100B and NSE levels in this study with the aim of detecting possible cerebral injury as a consequence of OSAHS.
Methods
This was a transverse study with data from 25 morbidly obese patients with OSAHS. Blood samples were collected before and after polysomnography (PSG) to determine S100B and NSE protein levels. We also analyzed data evaluating depression and excessive daytime sleepiness.
Results
S100B levels were higher after 0.029 (0.010–0.199) mg/l compared to before 0.010 (0.010–0.025) mg/l on PSG (
P
= 0.002). S100B levels were expressed as means and IQ25–IQ75. NSE levels did not show significant differences before and after PSG.
Conclusion
Our study shows a significant increase in S100B level after PSG compared to before. This suggests that there is a CNS astrocyte reaction because of possible cerebral hypoxemia in morbidly obese patients with OSAHS.
