Nuclear factor kappaB (NF-kappaB) is thought to play an important role in the expression of genes expressed in response to ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. In this report, the activation of ...NF-kappaB in rat skeletal muscle during reperfusion following a 4-h ischemic period was studied. NF-kappaB activation displayed a biphasic pattern, showing peak activities from 30 min to 3 h postperfusion and 6 h to 16 h postperfusion, with a decline to baseline binding activity levels between 3 h and 6 h. Inhibition of NF-kappaB activation was investigated using proline dithiocarbamate (Pro-DTC). NF-kappaB binding activity during reperfusion was significantly reduced by intravenous administration of Pro-DTC. Additionally, Pro-DTC resulted in decreased muscle edema and neutrophil activity, with an increased percentage of muscle survival compared with vehicle controls. These results demonstrate that NF-kappaB is activated during reperfusion in a biphasic manner and that the regulation of the initial phase of NF-kappaB activation affords physiological protection against a severe ischemic stress. Selective inhibition of NF-kappaB during early reperfusion may therefore be a therapeutic intervention for I/R injury.
Enterobiasis is undoubtedly one of the most common human helminths infections through the world, with an estimate of 1000 million cases worldwide. Although adult worms and their eggs are frequently ...found in inflamed appendices, but the role of the parasite in producing appendicitis in humans still remains controversial. Although acute appendicitis may occur at any age, but it is relatively rare at the extremes of age. A histopathological study of infested appendices with Enterobius vermicularis was performed in Khuzestan province, south western Iran, during 2001 to 2003. All 40 samples had surgically been removed during the emergency operations and histopathological process with (H&E) staining has been performed for each. One of the main objects of this work was to collect more data about the possible role of this highly prevalent human round worm as a causative agent of appendicitis in humans, leading to different types of appendicitis in this part of the country. In this occasion over the slide examinations of the tissue sections, fewer cases than expected, with worm infested appendices were seen exclusively affected with this parasite.

Skin cancer can be treated by various methods. Radiotherapy has been a useful therapeutic modality in the treatment of skin cancers in areas which are difficult to cure by other methods. Varskin2 is ...a fast, accurate and user friendly code for beta dosimetry. It can be used for dose optimization calculation especially in beta source over the human skin. We have calculated depth dose distribution of 166Ho using Varskin2 code by adding of 166Ho data to the library of Varskin2 code. After adding radionuclide of 166Ho data to the library of code, it has been run for various input parameters: density, air gap thickness, radiation time and different source geometry, skin absorbed depth dose variation from the skin surface. Absorbed depth dose variation has been calculated for166Ho beta source, in different form of sources such as point, 2-D disk, cylindrical and spherical shapes. The result show that skin absorbed depth dose variation is an exponential function because short range of beta ray. The result are in agreement with experimental data have been measured by Lee et al. The result show 2-D disk source makes the minimum damage to skin cells.
A previously proposed basis of spheroidal orbitals has been used to evaluate the low-energy spectrum of magnetic molecules H2 and H3 embedded in a magnetic field of 2,35.108T. Arguments of symmetry have been applied in order to improve the variational treatment. The calculated spectra of these magnetic molecules indicate their great stability regarding any dissociation and confirm that magnetic polymers of hydrogen are stable.
