Emerging evidence supports the intuitive link between chronic health conditions associated with air pollution and the vulnerability of individuals and communities to COVID-19. Poor air quality ...already imposes a highly significant public health burden in Northwest India, with pollution levels spiking to hazardous levels in November and early December when rice crop residues are burned. The urgency of curtailing the COVID-19 pandemic and mitigating a potential resurgence later in the year provides even more justification for accelerating efforts to dramatically reduce open agricultural burning in India.
The study of the coupling to collective states of the Si28 projectile and Sm154 target in fusion mechanism is reported. Understanding such couplings is important as they influence the barrier height ...and the formation probability of the compound nuclei, which in turn may be related to the synthesis of superheavy elements in heavier systems. In the present work, before performing the coupled-channel calculations, we wish to obtain an experimental signature of coupling to projectile and target excitation through barrier distribution (BD) study. To this end, the BDs of the Si28+Sm154 and O16+Sm154 systems have been compared using existing fusion data, scaled to compensate for the differences between the nominal Coulomb barriers and the respective coupling strengths. However, the large error bars on the high-energy side of the fusion BD prevent any definite identification of such signatures. We have, therefore, performed a quasi-elastic (QE) scattering experiment for the heavier Si28+Sm154 system and compared its results with existing QE data for the O16 projectile. Since QE BDs are precise at higher energies, the comparison has shown that the BD of Si28+Sm154 is similar to that of O16+Sm154 to a large extent except for a peaklike structure on the higher energy side. The similarity shows that the Sm154 deformation plays a major role in the fusion mechanism of Si28+Sm154 system. The peaklike structure is attributed to Si28 excitation. In contrast with previous studies, it is found that a coupled-channel calculation with vibrational coupling to the first 2+ state of Si28 reproduces this structure rather well. However, an almost identical result is found with the rotational coupling scheme if one considers the large positive hexadecapole deformation of the projectile. A value around that given by Möller and Nix (β4≈0.25) leads to a strong cancellation in the re-orientation term that couples the 2+ state back to itself, making that state look vibrational in this process. Thus, unlike the existing fusion data, our new QE results contain subtle details about the fusion mechanism of Si28+Sm154 system. They even show a sensitivity to the Si28 hexadecapole deformation and hence may be capable of giving a physically reasonable estimate for β4 in an indirect way.
Objective: To develop a validated Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) method through Quality by Design (QbD) approach for the determination of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (tenofovir DF) ...in bulk, pharmaceutical formulation and stress conditions.
Methods: The analytical target profile (ATP) was to develop a simple, accurate, precise, specific, and robust method with the Critical Quality Attribute (CQA) being retention time, theoretical plate and peak tailing. Derived from the risk assessment studies, four high-risk factors were screened using resolution V irregular fraction design. Organic modifier strength, flow rate and injection volume were further optimized using Box-Behnken design (BBD). The optimized method condition was validated and applied for the determination of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulation. The stability of the analyte in stress conditions was determined. All experiments were performed using reverse-phase Acquity UPLC BEH C18 (1.7 µm, 1 mm X 50 mm) column coupled in-line with Synapt G2 mass spectrometer in positive electrospray ionization (ESI) mode with electron multiplier analog-to-digital detector.
Results: Optimized method condition eluted analyte at 3.40 min and the m/z 520 ratified the analyte peak. The method was validated and was found to be specific, linear in the range of 20-100 µg/ml (R2 = 0.9998) with accuracy between 98.71% - 101.17% and precise. The limit of detection and quantification were 5.50 µg/ml and 16.68 µg/ml respectively. Analyte degraded completely in acid and basic environment, however, stable in oxidative and photolytic conditions.
Conclusion: The validated method developed through the systematic and rational QbD approach bespoke superior quality. The QbD approach not only justified the entire process but also eliminated uncertainties.
Background
Parathyroid lesions are identified by subjective enhancement and washout patterns on computed tomography (CT). We have previously proposed “percentage arterial enhancement” (PAE) as an ...objective index and now aim to validate its performance prospectively.
Methods
Dual‐phase CT was performed in 40 consecutive primary hyperparathyroidism patients. PAE was calculated as {arterial phase Hounsfield unit (HU)‐unenhanced phase HU}/unenhanced phase HU × 100. PAE > 128.9% was considered parathyroid.
Results
PAE had 94.2% sensitivity, 100% positive predictive value (PPV) in lateralization, and sensitivity and PPV of 93.9% in quadrant localization of single‐gland disease. PAE failed to identify two lesions: an intrathyroidal parathyroid carcinoma in the background of multinodular goiter and another lower enhancing cystic parathyroid adenoma. PAE had 60% sensitivity, and 100% PPV to identify multigland disease. The mean effective dose was 2.74 mSV.
Conclusions
PAE is a specific CT index for parathyroid lesions with less radiation exposure. Areas of caution include intrathyroidal and cystic lesions.
Cough is a prevalent symptom of many illnesses of the respiratory system. The assessment of its intensity and event frequency could provide useful clinical data in the assessment of chronic cough ...patients .The MEMS vibration sensor is placed in neck either as batches or robes. The band-like filter patch was put on the body of the patient. Sensor is driven by batteries that allow patient mobility and connect to a smartphone phone. Smartphone transmits information to a cloud-based health platform that provides additional information and alerts medical staff. The machine learning algorithms collect and analyze the sound of the coughs to personalize it to the user based on its pitch and sound profile, which is unique to each person based on the size and capacity of his or her lungs. When coughing indicates an impending attack, the device transmits a message to the dedicated cloud-based software via the nearest cellular communications tower. A text message is then automatically sent to one or more caretakers ' smartphones, alerting them to early indications of an assault by the client. If various caregivers are present, the first person to react may use the smartphone to give a response text message to all others, notifying them of being with or on the manner to the patient. The doctors could use recordings of coughing to help diagnose an illness. The device issues an alert only to caregivers, because sending an audio file would consume a significant amount of battery power. However, when the wearable sensor batch is recharging, it could be provisioned to forward sound files to the patient's doctor.

Orthogonal Frequency Division several Access (OFDMA) is a access that is numerous where the regularity musical organization is divided in to range subcarriers and each individual is assigned a subset ...of this subcarriers to be used. Although t he OFDMA framework provides a mechanism for a person to distribute information throughout the pair of assigned sub-carriers, it nevertheless departs the appropriate concern of just how to designate sub-carriers to users. The subcarrier resource allocation issue is complex for both charged energy minimization along with price maximization both in uplink and downlink situations. The allocation issue has gotten active desire for the r esearch community and has now been examined from, essentially, two views: schemes that look for to attenuate the quantity of send energy and the ones that look for to obtain throughput that is optimum. Analysis a few of the crucial algorithms which were proposed for efficient subcarrier allocation is completed in t their paper
Abstract
Background
Survivors of invasive group B Streptococcus (iGBS) disease, notably meningitis, are at increased risk of neurodevelopmental impairment. However, the limited studies to date have a ...median follow-up to 18 months and have mainly focused on moderate or severe neurodevelopmental impairment, with no previous studies on emotional-behavioral problems among iGBS survivors.
Methods
In this multicountry, matched cohort study, we included children aged 18 months to 17 years with infant iGBS sepsis and meningitis from health demographic surveillance systems, or hospital records in Argentina, India, Kenya, Mozambique, and South Africa. Children without an iGBS history were matched to iGBS survivors for sex and age. Our primary outcomes were emotional-behavioral problems and psychopathological conditions as measured with the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL). The CBCL was completed by the child’s primary caregiver.
Results
Between October 2019 and April 2021, 573 children (mean age, 7.18 years) were assessed, including 156 iGBS survivors and 417 non-iGBS comparison children. On average, we observed more total problems and more anxiety, attention, and conduct problems for school-aged iGBS survivors compared with the non-iGBS group. No differences were found in the proportion of clinically significant psychopathological conditions defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (Fifth Edition).
Conclusions
Our findings suggested that school-aged iGBS survivors experienced increased mild emotional behavioral problems that may affect children and families. At-risk neonates including iGBS survivors need long-term follow-up with integrated emotional-behavioral assessments and appropriate care. Scale-up will require simplified assessments that are free and culturally adapted.
The use of β-lactam (BL) and β-lactamase inhibitor combination to overcome BL antibiotic resistance has been validated through clinically approved drug products. However, unmet medical needs still ...exist for the treatment of infections caused by Gram-negative (GN) bacteria expressing metallo-β-lactamases. Previously, we reported our effort to discover pan inhibitors of three main families in this class: IMP, VIM, and NDM. Herein, we describe our work to improve the GN coverage spectrum in combination with imipenem and relebactam. This was achieved through structure- and property-based optimization to tackle the GN cell penetration and efflux challenges. A significant discovery was made that inhibition of both VIM alleles, VIM-1 and VIM-2, is essential for broad GN coverage, especially against VIM-producing P. aeruginosa. In addition, pharmacokinetics and nonclinical safety profiles were investigated for select compounds. Key findings from this drug discovery campaign laid the foundation for further lead optimization toward identification of preclinical candidates.
